I love my e82 120d. I've improved it since ownership, b14 kit, e92 m3 upper and lower control arms(front and back) adjustable toe arms, axle bush inserts, remap and some 18" Schnitzers. It's a nice place to be for my drive to work.
Great little review, subbed. Just picked up a 2013 plate with a snapped timing chain, looking forward to sorting it and taking it for a spin. [edit] done 3k miles in it now, really feels great to drive, needed new rear shocks, rear lower control arm bushes lubricating and the standard cloth tape fixes to sort out the creaky interior. Full inlet manifold clean really gives the engine room to breathe, well worth trying one of these cars if you're looking for something different.
@@acidrain55 139k but I've seen them snap anywhere between 90-120k depending on oil changes, pretty much all the N47 & N57 chains are going to snap sooner or later. Rattles from cold at top of the engine is camshaft to hpfp chain, these snap most of the time but I've also seen ones where the middle chain has snapped instead, tell tale signs of middle chain wear is a swooshing noise when hot at around 1500rpm.
The design held up quite nicely. Very handsome, almost cute car.

I've had the 118D, 120D and 123D incarnations of the E82. 118D is the sensible choice, but the 123D is indecently fast, especially at today's money.
