The Spiritborn are epic. Very fitting for the expansion. My only concern is that they might not fit into the main story? Why would a Spiritborn venture out into the Fractured Peaks and almost freeze to death?? Players like myself will have to create a backstory to make it feel viable for this to happen. Thank you for the awesome content man
I think that you will be able to start the campaign as Spiritborn, but "canonically" this character joins the hero(s) in Nahantu, after defeating Lilith
@@ajsti91 that would be interesting however, that will make it so, you cant play the main campaign with them making a problem when it comes to content. However how often do we play the whole campaign I guess.
If the spirit world is a plane of existence like the High Heavens and the Burning Hells but located in Sanctuary, how did the Prime Evils not know of it, sense it, or find it during their invasions and corruptions during D2? Especially Mephisto since his entire arc in D2 was in that region of the world? Surely, a Prime Evil would be able to sense a power of that level nearby.
Yes, I think it's weird. Not a lore expert, though I think that Mefisto spent most of his time in Nahantu trapped in a Soul stone and only briefly got free before we trapped him again in Diablo 2. So maybe this explains it a bit
The sprit world is the unformed land. It’s been mentioned since Diablo 3. The reason Hell doesn’t know of it is because no one ever summoned demons into the unformed land. Demons know sanctuary because one deviant mage clan began summoning demons into the world, they then told the Prime Evils. This never happened for the spirit world, thus it’s untouched. There is absolutely zero lore inconsistency that I’ve seen so far.
I am very excited for this class. At first I didn't like the idea of going back to Nahantu, but now I'm having high hopes that they have thought it well. The lore they presented so far is quite interesting and it makes sense. We knew that there is something else than just Sanctuary, Heavens and Hell, coz we already had this Tragoul or whatever is he called (the Serpent from necromancers beliefs). We also know that nature has power and druids use a connection with the spirits. So seems like Spiritborn have just deeper knowledge about spirit realm as Akarat helped them to discover it. I do miss the paladin and I hope that at some point we will get back to the Western Continent and our holy warriors will show up again. I understand though that the Fractured Peaks already use the theme of Gothic world and the 1st DLC would rather explore some other themes. I am bit scared how they will execute Xinsai if we ever get there. Anyways - great video Nyx, love your lore explanation!
Never been so early. Great job Nyx, will you cover the diablo comics lore too? I really find this class to be interesting and creative, it also fits in with the area. I'm surprisingly excited for Spiritborn.
I've got one problem with Nahantu region - it's quite messy. It's a jungle with all real world's jungle themes put together - we've got Africa inspired witch doctors, Aztec/Maya spiritborn, Tusked riders seemingly India inspired and... centre of the Zakarum Church. And Zakarum Church everywhere, even in the Dry Steppes or Hawezar looks like gothic, medieval Church, but in Nahantu they have pyramids. Quite inconsistent and messy
It's a fantasy world, so I think it's ok to mix different ideas. I don't really mind mixing South America with Africa or India, though it's true that Europe got Western Continent and Fractured Peaks to distinguish between more Western European and Slavic/Orthodox European taste. Zakarum is really weird though, I also find it awkward
@@ajsti91 Yeah even the Zakarum are headquarted in Kehjistan which seems to be inspired by Islamic Turkic Empires (Seljuk, Ottomans etc) but also the Ayyubid Egypt and their current (or former after the events of D4?) headquarters in Caldeum which itself is sort of inspired by Baghdad (Arabic)/Istanbul (Turkic)/Cordoba (Moorish) all mashed together. I for one think it's really interesting how they mash together different cultures.
Anyone feel We could still have a Monk as well as a Spiritborn? Just make the Monk weightier and slower in attacks and movements, more defensive and tanky. Some ideas; Basic attacks, all have short gap closers. They don't have elements are all physical. You could take multiple basic attacks as the bonuses stack and His class mechanic is He gains attack speed and a damage buff for a few seconds after He uses a different basic or core from the last up to around 6 times or so. - Super fast punches that give some attack speed - Flashy kicks that give some move speed - Elbows and knees that give armour penetration - Palm strikes that give fortify Core skills - For Monk; Flame, Lightning, Poison, and Ice Aura. Each aura gives You a passive % resistance against an element of it's kind. And when activated You charge up the aura gain elemental AOE damage for a short time and enhance your next three attacks to deal a % of that element. Technique/Defensive skills, -3 charge chain dash that knocks opponents back a short distance You become unstoppable for 0.25 seconds during each dash. -A knock back 360 kick that stuns when they collide with terrain -Meditate in mid air, becoming unstoppable but rooted in place and unable to attack. Heal HP each second as well as a damage shield. -Thunder clap, clap and do a ring of thunder around You that deals lightning damage and puts a debuff on the enemies meaning they deal 40% less damage and when they're hit they're stunned and the debuff expires, as well as taking an additional small amount of lighting damage. Mastery, These skills will actually use His weapons as all other skills so far are just hands and feet, knees and elbows. Big devastating elemental attacks that You need three "combo points" which are gained from casting your core skills three times or more (Up to five). -Jump into the air and front flip into an over head slam that smashes into the ground and causes a fire explosion that blinds enemies and puts a fire DOT on them as well as some initial damage.. Utimate -Charge up a Chi ball, become unstoppable and rooted while charging and Kamehameha spirit bomb blast a huge area, and does 400% damage to bosses when use for the first time on them. That's all I got so far, making the Monk more of an anti elemental type of Bruiser/Juggernaut/Tank that's more vulnerable to physical damage than a Barb, or Druid e.c.t.
The spirit born sounds like a villains. A cult who sacrifices their children to deities in the hope is that one of them can be possessed and become a warrior to fight in a war you've avoided so well no one knows about you. Paladin would have been easier to explain.
It does sound like it. Maybe they can explain that because of the creation of Witch Doctors as a class in Diablo III? It would need to be explained better because that would be a bit of a hole in the lore. Maybe they can connect the Spiritborn and the Witch Doctors?
I was WAITING for your video on the Spiritborne. I refuse to get my lore content from any other person. ....Any chance you have ANY plans to do lore for Last Epoch?? To be honest, I've tried to find a few videos youtube, and NO ONE has your polish, knowledge, and delivery. It's all mindless and droning, reading from a website.
Such a good question. I started a second playthrough of the LE Campaign for this reason but it was eating up all my time. The answer is that I want to do it, I just don't know when.

It's a great point
Nyx putting out banger after banger on videos.
u so nice ❤
So isnt this just the unformed land from the witch doctor lore?
Good catch
Feels like the unfromed lands from the witch doctors. Plus its diablo's take on the wild gods of wow
"That's... You, by the way"

Probably for the same reason they haven't found tragul. Separate realm. Why would they need to look until now

Comics lore? Didn't know there's one. What's it about?
Such a great question. The answer is yes, eventually.
Spirit realm sounds a lot like what Witch Doctors tap into
The Witch Doctors spoke of these lands before, I dont really feel like this is new lore besides the *loa* type of gods
I'm gonna change the gorilla's name to harambe.

Can they spirit corn the Druid a fucking grizzly bear summon
I guess that's cool, but diablo is meant to be dark and bloody. the spiritborne aesthetic is just...world of warcraft.
Jesus this is stupid , Blizz has no idea
