This song was Robert teasing John Paul Jones. When they went to New Orleans on tour, they would stay at the Royal Orleans Hotel and they loved going to gay bars to watch drag shows, etc., because they wouldn't get hassled there like they would going to regular clubs. In the song, the lyrics imply someone bringing back a girl - with whiskers. In an interview he gave to Mojo magazine in 2007, Jones clarified the reliability of this, stating: "The transvestites were actually friends of Richard Cole's; normal friendly people and we were all at some bar. That I mistook a transvestite for a girl is rubbish; that happened in another country to somebody else ... Anyway 'Stephanie' ended up in my room and we rolled a joint or two and I fell asleep and set fire to the hotel room, as you do, ha ha, and when I woke up it was full of firemen!" The "John Cameron" mentioned was a rival of Jonesy's from his session days.
I remember in Hammer of the Gods, it was reported when the firemen (or whomever, possibly Cole) went in the room they found one of the occupants sleeping “with his dick hanging out”. Question is, was that Jonesy or the drag queen?😂
