Not only that, but the "side chick" being a direct subordinate at their place of work with Ned being the go to individual for HR issues... Yeah. It's a fucky situation.
I don't know about you but I learned in school that where there is a power dynamic there is no consent. So no, in a way it was not a consensual relationship. Just as students and teachers in post-secondary education, just as bosses and employees, just as landlords and renters, etc. In short, if the disadvantaged person feels that they could not say no then it's non-consensual, which, as it is very hard to prove, is taken as a given. I am no trying to absolve Alex who was known to try to get people to cheat and pressured people into eating and drinking more than they were comfortable with. Aka, known for pushing people's boundaries but the position she found herself in was not one that gave her room for consent and that should not be mocked.
She’s an adult bro if she wanted to she could have came forward if she wasn’t into it and in this day and age we believe women way more then men in this situation so even if Ned would say he would fire her or for not being with him she could just tell everyone and they would believe Alex over Ned 100% so long story short hold Alex just as accountable as Ned she was part of it she’s been getting way less hate then Ned and I don’t think that’s right
@@brennenmalinsky7562 not that simple. It's still your career potentially at stake. People in this situation may find it hard to speak up, for different reasons, the power imbalance, manipulation, fear and so on. That doesn't go away just because you're an adult. That said in this specific situation, she does have responsibility to bare, she's scummy and shouldn't be absolved, I agree that she should also be held accountable so i do get your perspective on that point. The reason Ned gets more hate isn't because Alex is a victim or anything, it's because he's worse in many peoples opinion. He had a wife and two kids, the whole I love my wife bit, and the power dynamic. It's easier to convince, coerce or manipulate if you're more powerful (that's why there are so many RUclipsrs that get into scandals about abuse I guess). Alex was a fan and an employee. "They were making fun of the consensual work place relationship being a big deal like that is a big deal because he is her boss and she is under him" YESSS say it louder for the people in the back. Even though anyone with common sense knows that some people clearly don't have common sense.
Besides it being disgusting that this was a "parody" sketch about the Try Guys being in the absolute right for their reaction, this is just disgusting standing alone mocking "consensual" workplace power imbalance relationships. Also the line about Beyonce was gross.
Yes I agree, and how they decided to casually throw in lines about the tragedy being "violent" and "probably racist". 😑 That skit made my skin crawl. It's beyond cringy.
That has to be so traumatizing for his wife because it’s not just about a consensual workplace relationship between a boss and an employee but the man was married while this is all going on.
Bro ngl I was feeling a little bad for all the flak he was getting, which is inherently understandable, but now nope. He hasn't learned. I don't put it past him to go out of his way to suggest that skit to his friend. If his blind friend can't see what's wrong with that, he's no friend to Ariel and it's trying to justify Ned's actions which adds additional disrespect to her and she's better off leaving Ned because there is zero respect in that relationship. 🚪🚶♀️
Also apparently SNL lost a majority of their cast and crew in 2022 which could explain the shift in humor that SNL is currently projecting. They’re taking REAL scandals and trying to make it seem not as urgent by adding humor to the terrible situation. SNL really flopped for this one.
I did think it was weird they were like why is this such a big news stories so they kissed on a bar and then referenced Beyoncé and like oh if she’s fine they can get over it to like what
Ned himself said in one of their videos that having a relationship (sexual or romantic) with an employee is illegal. Guess his friends did not consume his content
Like miles said on the sketch, “do you think people were just upset that bill Clinton cheated?” But if you look at how snl took jabs at that scandal in the 90s they did the same thing too. I understand the point of the sketch was why are new outlets caring about some RUclips drama but the point is that it’s apart of the bigger narrative about power dynamics and relationships in the workplace but clearly it’s not important to the writers of snl, one of which who happens to know the individual involved in this drama.
Do they have any regard for how hard this is hitting the other Try Guys and Ariel? The lack of respect for online creators on television is getting out of hand! Also the nerve of them to joke about and down play how serious it is to date a subordinate in the work place, especially in an era where the film/television industry is under fire and heavy scrutiny for toxic work place environments!
I don’t like how they painted the try guys that way. Fucking sucks because my Halloween costume this year was gonna be an SNL character and now I don’t even want to support SNL
AND he was the "HR person" like even if Try Guy LLC allowed concentual relationships (which it doenst have to) you have to have outside checks and delegate someone to handle her particular HR needs and check in with her to make sure there isn't an abuse of power.
Miles was on Kelsey's podcast and put it best: there was only one bad take and that's the one SNL went with. Honestly, I think the guess would be thrilled to be made fun of on SNL, if it wasn't for such a sensitive and personal topic.
I don't watch SNL anymore, but when I heard about biscuit I knew it might be the marking of end of an era. Because why would you joke about workplace affairs unless you've had your own?
I doubt Ned asked his friend to do this. His friend just wanted to suck up to Ned. But skits go through so many levels of approval, I’m surprised it made it on air. Why would Lorne approve such a personal skit? Did the other writers and actors hear of the Try Guys once and thought it would get Gen Z views?
the Try Guys thing is SO niche -- it's 100% Ned's friend who spearheaded the sketch I wouldn't be surprised if the crew just trusted the writer and didn't bother to look up what they were making fun of - especially since sketches get written within days of filming
Doesn't Alex also know someone at SNL? I remember not long before this she talked about how she was at the SNL after-party with Post Malone and a bunch of other people. I brought it up to a friend how she tried to do shots with him and then was informed he has major problems with addiction.......gross.
Waaaaahhhhh, how dare they not treat us like the center of the universe. These guys are almost in their 40’s and never graduated from liberal arts college apparently.
the first couple jokes in the sketch were kind of funny tbh. a lot of people on twitter were like "who tf watched the try guys before all this" and how try guys lore might seem silly to outsider and they kind of played into that, but once they actually started satirizing the try guys themselves it becomes painfully evident they totally misunderstand the situation.
Right I think it was just a bonus that it also wasn’t even funny. Like I kept a straight face the entire time watching the skit it wasn’t even intentional it just sucked so bad
The consensual workplace relationship? You mean the fact he cheated on his wife and family with his coworker in public, his coworker who he was the boss of and his coworker who had a fiance?
See I believe Ned has actually 2 friends, one who had a newborn who he mentioned and another people have also seen his name around and who is also a Yale alumni who follows bed and Ned follows him (and it says he is and no writer in his bio) doesn’t have a new born
That's fucking cruel. That genuinely makes me so upset . The other try guys are real people who feel angry, betrayed, heartbroken and people are writing about this and trying to make it funny? That's messed up.
Guys, calm down. SNL makes fun of almost everything. And I don’t think the point of the skit was to make the situation seem stupid. As Americans, we do get dramatic about certain things. Just because the person involved happened to be well known, it’s not like what happened is entirely uncommon. I think SNL’s point was to show that we spend a lot of energy and focus on drama like this, which has become a pretty big talking point, instead of on the things in the world that NEED attention. In the skit, the news reporter woman was continually attempting to get attention back on track to global matters, but the news reporter man , representing Americans, cared too much about the Try Guys situation to let that happen.

He ruined his own career that he built with 3 people.
When the anchor says "so dude had a side chick and you fired him" that's when I realized they missed the point completely and didn't care they did. Yes, he had a side chick, WHILE BEING THE WIFE GUY© OF THE BRAND. That's awful that they would not ever mention that aspect. They're so OK with infidelity, lying, hiding things from their partner, and friends, it's quite telling.
Not only that, but the "side chick" being a direct subordinate at their place of work with Ned being the go to individual for HR issues... Yeah. It's a fucky situation.
They also called the year long affair just a kiss. Like that’s not the same thing
Will Stephen, that's his friends name. Narcissists take care of narcissists.
They picked the worst possible take lie the only wrong one
And Ned, as a boss had a responsibility to not fuck his employee
@@brennenmalinsky7562 I personally know so many women who don’t report because they aren’t believed. “These days” women are still blamed and villainized when they are the ones being coerced. Foh
@@brennenmalinsky7562 for the love of God Brennan did you miss the recap?
The way the reat of the try guys handeld it was beautiful. They realise they can no longer just do one of those "hey guys lets talk" moments and they handeld it professionally while still letting us see that it effected them. More creators need to do this when appoligising because trying to sit down and talk is no longer gonna work past a certan point and they are no longer relatable. More creators need to be like them when appoligising.
It’s takes two to tango. That women knew what she was doing with a married man.
He has TWO friends who work as writers for SNL
He has many concerns a half the staff at encinal went to Yale and he graduated with honors and spoke at graduation
No it was that Ariel and Ned both had seperate SNL writer friends
respect for Becky, she took matters into her own hands by letting people know
That has to be so traumatizing for his wife because it’s not just about a consensual workplace relationship between a boss and an employee but the man was married while this is all going on.
It really didn't surprise me if Ned was the one who have SNL the idea for the skits, he just seems very petty like that.
And it's so unfunny it's on brand with him
this just makes ned look worse. what a friend💀💀
gotta love becky, queen shit of her to not let it slide
Isnt it a little too soon? 😳
That’s been snls thing forever. They write shit every week and get it out asap. Good or bad. Mostly bad.
No such thing, everything is fair in comedy and I mean literally anything
@@crazymonkey0518 too bad it wasn’t funny
Not just boss but freaking company owner!
I did think it was weird they were like why is this such a big news stories so they kissed on a bar and then referenced Beyoncé and like oh if she’s fine they can get over it to like what
Also they made the guy playing Eugene act super flamboyant bc Eugene is gay and Eugene is... Not f*king flamboyant it was so rude
That friend is in fact credited with writing that skit.
I hadn't heard that he was her boss. That's coercive and consensual!
Also the nerve of them to joke about and down play how serious it is to date a subordinate in the work place, especially in an era where the film/television industry is under fire and heavy scrutiny for toxic work place environments!
tell me you dont have class without telling me you dont have class
I don’t like how they painted the try guys that way. Fucking sucks because my Halloween costume this year was gonna be an SNL character and now I don’t even want to support SNL
“He was her boss and she was under him.” I see what you did there. 😂
Becky 😂❤ She’s the OG
If you search who the writers were, his friend was one of the writers
AND he was the "HR person" like even if Try Guy LLC allowed concentual relationships (which it doenst have to) you have to have outside checks and delegate someone to handle her particular HR needs and check in with her to make sure there isn't an abuse of power.
Miles was on Kelsey's podcast and put it best: there was only one bad take and that's the one SNL went with. Honestly, I think the guess would be thrilled to be made fun of on SNL, if it wasn't for such a sensitive and personal topic.
Gen Z?? The Try Guys are in their 30's
I don't watch SNL anymore, but when I heard about biscuit I knew it might be the marking of end of an era. Because why would you joke about workplace affairs unless you've had your own?
Incredible video, please continue to make more
i guess the workplace environment in SNL tolerates scandals and inappropriate behaviors case in point the Horatio Sanz scandal
They should file for defamation
The funny thing is.... It wasn't funny. Lmao
“ she’s under him” 🤣
No pun intended
I doubt Ned asked his friend to do this. His friend just wanted to suck up to Ned. But skits go through so many levels of approval, I’m surprised it made it on air. Why would Lorne approve such a personal skit? Did the other writers and actors hear of the Try Guys once and thought it would get Gen Z views?
BECKY!! YESSSSSS 👏
Literally under him amIwright :333
If you use a stat checker, then you’ll see that the video has 144,806 dislikes and only 30,990 likes. I love this fan base :)
I like what you did there “she was definitely under him”
the Try Guys thing is SO niche -- it's 100% Ned's friend who spearheaded the sketch
I wouldn't be surprised if the crew just trusted the writer and didn't bother to look up what they were making fun of - especially since sketches get written within days of filming
Lol the Keith guy
She is under him. Literally
i don’t think it’s this serious snl does skits based on what’s popular and this was discussed everywhere
Doesn't Alex also know someone at SNL? I remember not long before this she talked about how she was at the SNL after-party with Post Malone and a bunch of other people. I brought it up to a friend how she tried to do shots with him and then was informed he has major problems with addiction.......gross.
They also had the only woman in the skit also being the only one saying it isn't a big deal. Which just felt.... weird and gross.
Waaaaahhhhh, how dare they not treat us like the center of the universe. These guys are almost in their 40’s and never graduated from liberal arts college apparently.
Literally it’s a legal issue??
You make bad choices, you get humiliated. Easy as that. What’s the big deal?
the first couple jokes in the sketch were kind of funny tbh. a lot of people on twitter were like "who tf watched the try guys before all this" and how try guys lore might seem silly to outsider and they kind of played into that, but once they actually started satirizing the try guys themselves it becomes painfully evident they totally misunderstand the situation.
Right I think it was just a bonus that it also wasn’t even funny. Like I kept a straight face the entire time watching the skit it wasn’t even intentional it just sucked so bad
"white guy wife guy try guy Ned" got a chuckle out of me, but that's the only line that was remotely funny
I fucking love the bit, was phone and amazing. They really kill it with the comedy.
Now it's all making sense
The consensual workplace relationship? You mean the fact he cheated on his wife and family with his coworker in public, his coworker who he was the boss of and his coworker who had a fiance?
See I believe Ned has actually 2 friends, one who had a newborn who he mentioned and another people have also seen his name around and who is also a Yale alumni who follows bed and Ned follows him (and it says he is and no writer in his bio) doesn’t have a new born
This puts Yale grads in a bad light for me😂
One of the writers is literally Neds Friends.
Becky’s a queen frrrr
The friend also was in the writing credits for the skit
He's the head of HR how would she have gotten out of it if it went bad. But I think she should be fired too.
SNL has so many alleged boss=employee relationships. Ofc they will defend Ned.
Why take it seriously? It’s high school drama. Millionaires and high school drama.
She was for sure under him 😅
