Great job! And a great video too;I've been looking for a video showing the steps to making bunk beds in an RV and this one, in my humble opinion, is the most helpful one I've found! I'll definitely be referencing your videos during my own RV renovation, thanks and keep up the good work!!
It looks great !!! I would have done a triple bunk with a thinner Mattress on the carpet,. Spaced the other 2 beds around the window with thinner mattresses also...
Great job I love the way you build it and put it together, there is one thing that I would love to know, how do I know where to screw the wood to the wall and how big of screws do I need to use
We had windows in the back and I knew there would be supports on each side of the window. We just used like 1.5" metal screws because our frame was all aluminum. You can also get the plans from the manufacturer most of the time and it will help you find studs.
Can you come build a top bunk for me thanks ! Great , helpful , detailed , resourceful bunk build video ! Love ! Great job !!! Will be using this as a main reference !
It's for the slide rollers to roll on instead of the bare wood. On the wood they start digging in and causing ruts in the wood. The metal plates prevent that and help it roll much smoother
How is the humidity with the mattresses just sitting on the plywood? We have dehumidifiers just about everywhere, but we still find some moisture along the bottom corners of our lower bed (his mattress sits on pallets currently)
In the three years we had this rig, we never had any issues with the mattresses molding. We did have one definitely that we'd move around occasionally, but it was usually downstairs next to the island.
We used a couple of little L brackets at the top of the posts and screwed I to the wall just to make sure it doesn't rattle a lot going down the road. Other than that no. It's heavy enough and fits just right that it can't really move
So glad I came across this. We have three boys and I'm wanting to build a bunk bed in our rv
That was a lot of work, but it looks great! Plus, you save so much $ doing it yourself.
It was a bit of work but it's something unique and custom for us and saved a bunch of $$

Good work Jordon, nice, simple build and finished results are amazing 🤩

Thank you! Good luck on your build! Our boys are still enjoying ours! It's held up great through the many miles we have traveled!

These turned out great!

Haha thank you! We are glad it was helpful! Good luck with your build!
in the intro to your video... what was the metal plate you installed under the camper?
It's for the slide rollers to roll on instead of the bare wood. On the wood they start digging in and causing ruts in the wood. The metal plates prevent that and help it roll much smoother
@@HayesHumbleHomestead did you have to custom order the plate?
@@tinaharlow4508 just made it ourselves out of some 1/8" steel plate
What size mattresses were used? Regular twin?
Yup we used regular twin mattresses that were in their bunks in our sticks and bricks house
How long did that take you? We are about to start ours!
It probably took us 4 days or so dealing with rain and what not.
I think I missed it, but how did you secure the frame for the bed to the wall and floor?
Yes we just used some L brackets and secured it to the floor and the wall.
How is the humidity with the mattresses just sitting on the plywood? We have dehumidifiers just about everywhere, but we still find some moisture along the bottom corners of our lower bed (his mattress sits on pallets currently)

All said and done what did the project cost $$?? We are hoping to add bunks to our RV soon, lots of research and planning first!
Off the top of my head I want to say it was around a couple hundred bucks but that was also before lumber went sky high.
Amazon has generic beddys and they are great quality. We bought ours for $40.
That's good to know. I'm super picky about all the fabrics, but I'm certain a review that they are decent quality is helpful to those looking!
Did you attach the frame to the trailer walls? If so how?
We used a couple of little L brackets at the top of the posts and screwed I to the wall just to make sure it doesn't rattle a lot going down the road. Other than that no. It's heavy enough and fits just right that it can't really move
@@HayesHumbleHomestead thank you!
Do you have a list of materials you used? Thanks!
Everything we used is in the description.
Thank you!
