      @@nomadexpress , did you notice how close to the ceiling it was when folded away? To get it higher when deployed would require a more complicated system where it pivots out and up as it deploys. Take a look at the Sun-lite 21TH or Sun-Lite 24TH to see how their murphy bed deploys.

    Id put some steel plates under the hinges that make holding bed frame easier when you put back on hinges, if the frame can be set on the steel plates in line with hinges would make doing that by urself much easier, also on that bottom bunk, you could build a fold down back on it like a sofa back that can be folded up for a sofa back, then back down for a bed mode, but youd have have a matress that folds in half.

    Fantastic design! I may “borrow” it. Thinking I may shorten the hinge stud about a 1/2 inch so they don’t have to start at the same time.

    Awesome build, very well done, sir! I noticed some squeaking on the bunk bed when you raised it up, a nylon bushing in-between the legs, and the frame may help with that and preserve that nice paint job. Thanks for posting!

    My utility trailer has a similar hinge setup, and it was impossible to reattach the gate by myself UNTIL... I shortened one pin by half an inch. Now I can get the long pin side started, and then still have a small gap to get the second hinge inserted. FAR easier!!!

      I ended up doing that shortly after I made the video... it was a pain before!! I have never taken the bed off again though...lol.

    I’m literally going to copy your design. Now I have to find the trailer. That’s perfect. Did you do any Black or grey tanks. If so where did you put them !

  • @rebeccagraf2962
    @rebeccagraf2962 2 года назад +2

    Yes! I have watched SO many of these trying to find one even close to what I need. So many perfect little solutions to make it work so well together.
    Do you have any idea how much weight this system adds to your trailer? I don't weld, but not sure I even want to build using wood, because wood can get heavy too. I need to sleep 6 so contemplating split queen fold up bunk beds in the back instead of Murphy bed style.
    BTW, I am a drafting designer and have been thinking of contracting out to design stuff exactly like this. You said you didn't have time to draw it up, but let me know If your interested in selling them. I bet we could get them drawn up.

      2" angle iron is 3.2 lbs per linear foot. The "mesh" is .9 lbs per sqf. So, that double bed frame is just under 100lbs, not counting the wall mount. 3.5lbs per foot is a safe estimate on the 2" square tube.

    • @watsonst04
      @watsonst04  2 года назад +1

      Thanks... I tried to make it the best I could. Yes the beds can really be made any way, so it's easy to flip them a different direction. I wouldn't do wood, just because it's not as strong as metal and probably wouldn't be as compact either. Yes I could probably make these too others..... just sometimes people want the world handed to them for pennies on the dollars and never happy with what ever they get.

    This is the best idea that I have seen. I have a cargo trailer like yours and have a question pertaining to you screwing the angle iron on the wall. You said you had plywood and beadboard that you screwed to. My question is, did you also align angle iron brackets with the wall studs?

    • @watsonst04
      @watsonst04  2 года назад

      Thanks! When I screwed the beds to the walls I used lag bolts as they have alot of bite vs your standard screws (I also spaced them out every 6 inche). Between using lag bolts and the number used it would take about of force to rip them off the wall. Also the plywood is securely fasten to the metal frame of the trailer as well.
