Hi. Glad to see this video 6 years after I guess... I have a moderate dent that was from the factory defect under the clear coat in the sound hole of my solid spruce top. Yes...I literately meant “in” the sound hole rim, that seems like they dented the wood with the neck clamp while laminating the neck to the body. There was no chipping , the wood did not break, it was just like a small concave surface. I guess I will just fill it up without doing any color. I wonder is the bonding strength enough for the fill n finish? Considering I have a really narrow apply surface, and I need to do all the sanding work later. I checked their website, and I found they now have two types for the clear fill n finish: standard and thin. Do you have any knowledge regarding how much more “thin” the thin type is? And how long do you need to wait for the fill to dry if you don’t use an accelerator? What else advantages do the accelerator gives other than speeding the drying process for this specific product? What is the content of this fill n finish, is it nitro based or some plastic based like poly? I had a very strong background in making hobby models (I was a professional hobby model builder for over 11 years), and I am pretty confident in my scraping and sanding skills. I used to work a lot on plastic and nitro surfaces, but I had never worked on polyurethane surfaces, are there any other tips you can give me? I’d be really thankful if you can get back to me after 6 years you created this video lol!
Thank you so very much for doing this. I just chipped my black Jackson DK-2 and was freaking out over it. I know what to buy and what to do now to fix it. Thank you again!
Tracy, thanks man, you did a great job on this video, I'm inspired to repair a Gretch that has some chips similar to your 8 string. You did a stellar set up on one of my guitars and it plays like butta.
On gloss japanese gloss can you drop fill with just runny superglue and just leave it to level out without sanding? If used runny enough and correct amount shojld fill a dink ? Or is that stupid? Finidh still on guitar. Just for level. ? What superglue is thin enough?
Great video. I used your method on a guitar and it worked great. Do you think it would work on a scratch on a car finish? Seems like it would...just not sure the super glue would hold up being exposed to sunlight, rain, etc.
I found at the local WOODCRAFT store some STICK FAST brand CA BLACK FLEXIBLE (already tinted black) and an activator (activator chemically reacts to instantly harden CA). Used a similar technique only I added 3 steps of sandpaper to 3000 grit (local HD store-)adding 4000 would be better but wasn’t available. At this finish it is approaching a gloss finish. Finished it with automobile polish compound applied by hand on a cotton cloth and this brought it to life matching the black high gloss finish. You have to catch a light reflecting directly from the repair to distinguish the very slight difference of the CA fill.
So I baught a guitar didn’t seem a line scratch before but it looks a little deep and it’s tie die colour any suggestions on how to get rid of this scratch
How do you fix sand threw i had a very scratched guitar and wet sanded it with 1500 its a black stain as you can just make out the grain however i went threw on the horns a little and its almost looks like a clear than the dye and than clear/polly over that. Can the sand threw be fixed or would i have too sand it down too wood and restain it
Best video on this repair I’ve seen yet! Very detailed explanation and great camera work. Thank you sir!
Great vid! I've done many drop fill repairs before and still learned some new things from ya!

Wow, I had to look through quite a few repair vids involving Gluboost before I found one that was anywhere close to my use case. Thanks!
U must be a BA or a Proj Manager (Use Case ;- )
@@philbarrows424 Ex-IT. 😊

Very nice
Good Job, dude - your video gives me the confidence to try a couple of dings in my own solid body electric - thanks :-)
Thanx!!!
how does that stuff work with different colours? my friend has a maroon esp i wanna help him fix a ding on it.
Glu boost supplies the only color tints on the market for CA glues, you can mix the perfect color. gluboost.com
It was smart thing to do to see something on black. Nice video

I am also in Ca. yesterday i nicked my LP, i was wondering how i could contact you to see if you can repair it?
Thanks for the video, but a lighter guitar would have helped me see what you were doing.
That's awesome! Do you have a video doing a natural finish acoustic guitar?
Wyatt's dad Yes go to glu boost.com you’ll see more of my videos
Looks like he removed the electrical tape from around the repair at around 3:43 or so, and then freestyled the scraping/sanding.
Holy crap wow.
hey, if I cant find the first bottle that you used online, are there any alternatives that can work?
use super glue CA gel type
can this be done on a metalic gold finish?
I have a dent in the back of my les Paul transparent wood grain. How would I go about matching red mahoghney?
Hey great video do you do work on your own?
How do I purchase these items when gear up do not ship to UK .
Why no use wood glue?
The product is a glue and finish in one.
hi i have a 2 tone sunburst strat with a ding in yhe finish would this help????
+richard coburn yes, it might look a bit darker due to depth of fill, but will work fine.
Can you use this on your phone
I used nails polish. Kinda works.
Goodness thank u dude

+DragonRoLo Those are tricky for now I would use a perm marker to get close to color, then quik seal with CA. lite sand, and repeat.
+zepdude ended up sanding the top off I am going to stain trucolor and do a burst
+DragonRoLo Sounds good! Good luck!
Can the crack affect the sound of your guitar?
Jake Vallejera It depends how long and deep a crack is in this case no it’s mostly cosmetic
Not Really.
