France is name the eldest daughter of the Christian Church because she was the first kingdom in europe to have a christian king Clovis baptized in what is now the cathedral of Reims in the video.
TECHNICALLY wouldn't it he the romans who were the first????? But I get what you're saying
Thé romans was politheiste not catholique

21:11 It is the Guédelon Castle in Burgundy. They build a castle in the same technics of medieval time since 1990's. Now, you can visit the Castle (witch is not finish) as well as the "village" of artisans, since they have formed a whole range of trades (around wood, stone, metal, fabrics, paints, tools, etc.,) to succeed in build the castle.
It is now a very interesting tourist attraction for lovers of historic buildings.
How long would it take to finish
@@BajanEnglishman51 I don't know. But the guy who started the project was a young man in his twenties at the time. You can find it on some old reporting videos. Today he's starting to be a middle-aged man.
I don't know if they already have a specific end date for the work in mind.
@@BajanEnglishman51 They began in 1997 and estimated that it would take 30 years to build the castle. It is well advanced, but will certainly take a few more years to complete. The project has taken off collectively, and there's no longer any question of building just the castle, but an entire village or even more. So it turned into a lifelong project.
They have their own RUclips channel named: "Guédelon nous bâtissons un château fort". And there are many other documentaries on RUclips.

1:01:17 they globaly said that the cost of the relics was about half of the annual French budget of this time. You can't really make a correct conversion after 800 years, but now the annual budget of France is arround 300 billion euros/dollars. But the productivity was completely different at this time so it would be much less now. But if you want a more accurate conversion based on the value of the money in gold it would be arround 40 million euros/dollars now I guess. But like I said, comparatively to the cost of living, productivity, etc at this time, 40 million was a much much much larger sum than it is now.
Half of the annual French budget and the country didn't go bankruptcy? MADNESS MATE

there were christians in europe (the roman empire) in the 1st century, in Rome, and in Gaul too.
the 1st european christian king was Clovis, king of Gauls in the 5th century.
then the 1st churches were allowed, and built, when the roman emperor Constantin became christian,
in the 4th century.
(the very first official christian kingdom was Armenia, in 301, then Ethiopia).
Oh wow I thought at that point the franks still were worshipping pagan gods
Clovis was king of the Franks (not Gauls) the germanic tribe that conquered Gaul at the fall of the roman empire
@@spicote They don't conquer Gaul. They were part of Gaul, and part of the Gallo-Roman army. They took control of Gaul.
@@romain6275 Wrong. What we call Gaul was a region of what we currently call France, Romandie and Belgium where celtic tribes were living. The Franks were a germanic tribe initially living in what we currently call the netherlands. They indeed helped the roman against other germanic tribes at some point before taking control of some parts when the empire falls.

About your thoughts on the representation of Christ being a sin, that actually was a huge question back in the times, the iconoclast crisis.
The orthodox christians rejected every Christ representation , but when this topic was settled it was admitted that representing Jesus wasn't a sin, and today Orthodox church has maybe more Jesus representations than anyone else 😅
So it's ok since it's to pay hommage
HMMMMM WOW VERY INTERESTING I GOTTA LOOK MORE INTO THIS
@BajanEnglishman51 oh I must admit I didnt think about Protestant's point of view, I was speaking about Catholic and Orthodox Churches which are not in a free interpretation of the Bible, we have to learn from an autority what the Bible says because It has several layers of interprétations, and devoted people gave their life to analyse and teach those learnings through 21 centuries, so we are not allowed to bring a superficial understanding of the Bible ourselves.
So im sorry because i dont know how the Protestant Church deals with it (if there is "a" protestant's point of view, maybe some consider it as a sin and others consider it lawful)
Christian iconography is a subject matter by itself, clerics and scholars wrote tens of thousands pages about it throughout history. Catholics, the largest religious group in the world, have a representation of Christ hanging on a cross in every church, and often in their house. Their rituals include eating Christ’s body and drinking his blood during the « communion ». It’s as a material representation of Christ as it goes.
Protestants, on the other hand, are more defiant toward material representations of Christ. Thus their cross doesn’t include any materialisation of the messiah’s body. However, to emphase his modest origins, they never shy away from displaying nativity scenes - especially around Christmas time - where, although as an infant, Christ is shown with a very human body.
Throughout history, there have been thousands of Christian sects and even today, dozens still exist. They each have their own specificities and you will likely find a few which consider that representing Christ is a sin. But the two largest ones, Catholic (Roman and orthodox) and Protestants don’t think it is.

Thank you for the detailed explanation makes me have a different view on this
(i'm french) and when at 2:20 you ask why we wanted to demolish the eiffel tower : it's because all the parisian people hated this iron lady they said that it was ugly.
How that tides have changed. Now uts the icon of france
if I may add this context,
The Eiffel Tower was initially intended to be demolished after the 1889 World’s Fair (Exposition Universelle) in Paris, an event that showcased advancements in industry, culture, and technology from around the world. The fair often featured temporary structures, which were dismantled once the event concluded. Gustave Eiffel’s tower, built as the centerpiece of the fair, was originally meant to follow this tradition.
However, after the fair, there was significant opposition from Parisians, many of whom found the tower unsightly and out of place in the Parisian skyline. The tower was even referred to as a "metallic monstrosity" by some critics. It wasn’t until it proved valuable as a radio transmission tower that it was saved from demolition.
Today, the Eiffel Tower is one of the most iconic landmarks in the world, symbolizing Paris and France, which is ironic considering how much it was initially disliked.
