I got fascinated by narrow boats a while back. And after a while I found your VLog, and I have been enjoying watching your adventures. I finally looked up your blog, and solved the mystery of Michael. I grew up in Los Angeles, and Michael does not sound like any other narrow-boater I have heard before.
Rural England at its finest ..despite cow pats and aggressive trees...but best of all lots of George...and you both of course are always interesting and informative Regards
If we'd needed a bit more time to explore, or had been able to make it to the Nene, the Gold License would have been worth it. As is we came out cheaper. M
I can't help but wonder each time I see those beautiful green rolling fields canal slide whether one day in the future they will be covered in a rolling urban metropolis stretching for miles and towering into the skyline .....
Now that is what i think of when i imagine how the British country side looks like, splendid country views. "Fool's Mission" that sounds like the perfect name for a narrow boat.
More scenery of the beautiful country side please and it would have been fun to see you going through the tight bends. You need a bigger larder seams your running out of food too often, still Lechlade is just up the river nice bun shop there. Keep those Vlogs coming Thanks.
There is footage of the tight bends in there, problem is you really need a drone to get a feel for the meander... from the front of the boat it's not as dramatic. M
I spent 14 days by the river at Radcot during September. I too find the area beautiful and peaceful. The tree you ran into may have been a Crack willow. They are grown to make cricket bats with.I was also informed that Radcot Bridge (on the bywater) is the oldest bridge over the Thames. You can't fail to enjoy the peaceful area.
Hmm. Bizarre... another google rabbit hole; looks like the top cricket bats are made from a hybrid of the Crack Willow and the White Willow called the Cricket Bat Willow, which is apparently from Norfolk? Man the world is full of strange. M
The scenery that way, up there is certainly beautiful, ( "this green and pleasant land" ), so true, you don't get that in LA or Vegas eh Michael, lol, thanks again guys.
Enjoyed video. The Trout at Lechlade is a better pub with really good food. Unfortunately the moorings are taken up with hire boats or private moorings (ours is one of them).
There is a lovely pub in lechlade called the new inn, its dog friendly and the food is very good, I stayed there when working away from home, im not sure but I think you can moor behind it..and a good antique shop..smashing video, im trying to place the first part of music, sounds very led zepp.
We did see the New Inn, but didn't go in. Several interesting shops, and another larger antique store a little walk further from the canal. As for the music, I know, there's something familiar about the start, but I can't place it either. M
Great to see you're enjoying MY River not enough folks go up there.... The aerodrome was Brize Norton where all the large RAF aircraft do their training. There is a good Italian restaurant in Lechlade plus a patisserie owned by them before you get to the (not) Co-op store. Over Ha'penny bridge and turn right. Please can you post shots of YOU using the lock gear as they are so light and easy to use - folks don't realise that...
Hey guys. just remembered something that happened when I was still at school. we had a mix half collie and half Alsatian, she was so pretty and at certain times of the year when she was changing coats she would look like a wolf Anyway I digress, balls remember the superball that hard thing that any dog worth there salt could totally demolish in an half hour or less . well Dusty was the girl . well we had a nabioure who worked for ici in Slough. well one day he brought home a ball bearing from one of the machines, but instead of steal it was made of some kind of rubber. there was no way that she could destroy it and it made the superball look like a flat tennis ball when it bounced. Dusty loved that ball untill one day she went chasing it into the sun she lost sight of it so did I..And that was that . believe me we looked for it for days. And the guy across the way had moved
The latest is that's a project on hold. Expense and disruption were too high for this year's movements, and after the battery move we just decided to leave it and see if we could make the multifuel work better this winter. If not, we might do it next year when she's pulled out for blacking. M
I see Geroge's fur has grown back in.
It always does eventually! M
No Michael, those cows were not far away, you can't fool me, they were toy cows attached to your hat... ;)
After a few weeks away from your channel I now have about 30 videos to watch! What a treat, this video was great, I love George.
Have fun catching up! M

Michael is very definitely unlike any other narrowboater anyone has ever heard before. :-) M
@@MinimalList I am not sure he is from California, but he has definitely spent time there. I look forward to watching more of your videos!
I would say I'm not "from" anywhere, anymore... but yes I spent quite a few years living in Venice Beach, right down where Rose meets the sand. M
Lovely film, also your choice of music was so much nicer than some of your recent vlogs.
The music, we've discovered, is one of those "cannot please everyone" aspects. M
Some bits of UK waterways need to be kept a secret... this is one of them... lovely video- even the rain looked peaceful and rural.
It was absolutely lovely. M
Rural England at its finest ..despite cow pats and aggressive trees...but best of all lots of George...and you both of course are always interesting and informative Regards
Better than aggressive cow pats, now I think of it. M
Wow how beautiful is that part of the Thames. Another great vlog guys.
Thanks.
Thanks for watching! M
A ball tree! Every dogs dream!
Along with a steak shrub! M
That's wheat isn't it? For making seitan!
Hail Seitan! M
Gorgeous scenery! Looks like George got his workout in a beautiful spot! Safe travels!
Thanks! M
Another great vlog. Michael, you are the most accident prone human I have ever seen. Take care!
I've just always been lucky in the big scheme of things, ludicrously unlucky in the small. M
Lovely. Great choice of music too. This is definitely on our to do list next year. Might have to get a gold license.
I rather hope not... for the last 40 years population growth in the UK has been below 1%, so if it's coming, it's going to be relatively slow. M
Go on,go on,go on,go on
Small-----------Far Away : )
Now that is what i think of when i imagine how the British country side looks like, splendid country views.
"Fool's Mission" that sounds like the perfect name for a narrow boat.
Hmmm... "Fool's Errand" maybe, yeah. M

A lovely stretch of river. Enjoy the peace and quiet
We did. And the moos. M
Classic Father Ted, Love it. Love your videos. ALL the best. Ps. That pub serves crap food anyway. ;-)
Good to know we didn't miss anything! M
another great video! the outtakes at the end always make me chuckle. thanks :)
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! Jo

It sure felt like more of a Stabby Stabby Willow, but it's entirely likely it was of the Crack variety! Interesting about the bridge! M
I was told that the average price of bats made from those trees is £6,000.HOWZAT!
Hmm. Bizarre... another google rabbit hole; looks like the top cricket bats are made from a hybrid of the Crack Willow and the White Willow called the Cricket Bat Willow, which is apparently from Norfolk? Man the world is full of strange. M
It is stunning up there and very remote. I was going to say beware of the killer cows at Lechlade but I guess it’s a little late for that!
We really thought it was the nicest part of the Thames! Luckily we survived the cows. Michael even made friends with them! J
great as usual lovely scenery
Thank you!
London: blegh
Middle of nowhere: Awesome
Exactly!
The scenery that way, up there is certainly beautiful, ( "this green and pleasant land" ), so true, you don't get that in LA or Vegas eh Michael, lol, thanks again guys.
Nah, not till you get to Northern California and on up into Oregon... in LA if it's green it's either paint or plastic. M
Yep, my brother used to live in California so I know that part of the US a bit, thanks again.
If your that hungry you should have picked up some of those windfall apples and made a pie, Mmmmm pie!
Sadly Jo isn't much of a pie person, and George would have felt betrayed anyway. M
Love it:-)
A Father Ted fan I see :)
Enjoyed video. The Trout at Lechlade is a better pub with really good food. Unfortunately the moorings are taken up with hire boats or private moorings (ours is one of them).
We did see the Trout and the mooring well filled! Ah well, next time through! M

Enjoyed that - you are having a great life and George must be the luckiest dog in NATO. Have you decided what your winter plans are?
We're going to keep moving as much as possible, current plan is to tick off a bunch of the waterways south of Birmingham and the city itself. M

We did like the lock gear, though I'm not sure we got many shots of them. M

Hmm, wish I could find me one of those. Though I have a feeling George would find a way to destroy it too, or lose his teeth in the process! M
At one time you mentioned that you were thinking of getting a diesel stove to replace the multi-fuel stove. What's the latest on that.
The latest is that's a project on hold. Expense and disruption were too high for this year's movements, and after the battery move we just decided to leave it and see if we could make the multifuel work better this winter. If not, we might do it next year when she's pulled out for blacking. M
I am now up to episode 100 so how many episodes are there altogether?
Not as many clips of going to the bakery for treats as there used to be.
Is that due to less filming, or less treats-ing ?
Less filming. Jo's trying to get back into that though! M
Why does the application want me to go to the 3XX series when I have not finish the 001-100 series
RUclips’s algorithm doesn’t really take numbers in the title into account, unfortunately… it just recommends what it recommends. M
I do enjoy a good cow joke.
I aim for your udder satisfaction!
Glad you found it a-moo-sing!
Michael quoting Father Ted wow
To be perfectly honest, never heard of Father Ted till just now. Sorry. But apparently great minds! M
Just search for Father Ted small far away, what's next in the blog a comment about a dead parrot? Keep up the good work 😀
ruclips.net/video/MMiKyfd6hA0/видео.html "these ones are small, the ones outside are far away" 😂
Heh! M
Funny ... I was just thinking it might be easier and cheaper on my sense of goodwill towards my dog if I ordered a bulk amount of tennis balls.
Your dog will reward you for it! M
