Life saver!! My hours at work have been cut and all of my bills are due including yearly property taxes AND It’s Christmas!!! This broke on me the morning I was going Christmas shopping for my 7 year old. Thank you so much, you have no idea how much this saved me until I can afford a new piece.
If you are in a hurry and dont have time to remove the unit, you can press down foot on the brake, press start and the moment it starts, (its in a neutral mode for a second), press down firmly on the gear selector with two fingers and turn at the same time. You will be able to get in gear and get home. If you want to reverse or put back in park, just press firmly on the selector again and turn at the same time to desired gear.
Thank you so very much for your help! Mine was stuck in Drive in the middle of the street and I was able to follow your instructions to get it in N and R, and get the vehicle off the street instead of waiting 3-4 hours for a tow truck on a Friday night! Again, many thanks.
This video was very useful today when my Evoque would not shift out of park. I was able to get it home, where I disassembled the selector. One issue was the plastic piece through which the threaded bar runs to raise and lower the knob was broken into 4 pieces. I 3D printed a new one, but that didn't fix the shift problem. That turned out to be no voltage to the solenoid, caused by one of the pair of 1 ohm senses resistors going bad. They are by the 3 pin connector on the board. I found another one on a scrap PCB, replaced it and now the selector works fine.
Did you do diagnostics? what error code came up? my car Disco Sport L550 SE has gear box fault, parking brake fault, can't get it into gear had to be towed, they think fault wiring harness, but others say possible a transducer or resistorrr.
@@karisstowers3516 this sounds like a parking eBrake harness. I have the same issue with my evoque. I changed the read harness. Problem fixed. I Hope this is helpful.
@@GeminiAutoWorks Hope your enjoying what your doing now in your career. This will definitely help me with temp repair, stc . I’m sure you know the score haha.

Hi great temporary fix but not the sort of job you can do at roadside TBF especially on a L405 Range Rover its NOT easy to remove and takes a few hours
Hello, good video. What happens if the lifting of the knob is neutralized, remaining always raised , neutralizing the internal mechanical plastic part that blocks the knob? Thank you.
So I took mine out of a Range Rover 5.0 Super-Charged Long Wheel Base, I tested the park solenoid and it works with a 9v battery, I am no sure what the problem is when it is hooked to the car the knob wont turn however after i did this fix in your video the shifter works fine, except it will lock every chance it gets I have to always manually remove it
Hello, I have a 2016 Evoque, the transmission is stuck in D mode, I plan to do what you did, but I'm wondering if this trick only temporarily starts the car or if it can stay that way, I'm not really sure?
Awesome temp fix but you seem to not show the work involved to extract the unit to do the bypass can you show the method of removing it from the car. 😂😂😂
Great tip, don't replace the unit there's a company that repairs these and upgrades the electronics so it doesn't happen again, costs a lot less than a new one too.
@@mianaseer812ECTTesting or something like that. You send your selector in, you get it back in a couple days, and if the selector wasn’t the problem then you get your money back minus shipping and testing fee
Thank you.... I have the same problem. My Disco 4 is from 2014. What do you think it is gear selecotor failure or something wrong with the brake impulse coil ??
If it rises but you’re unable to turn the lever it’s most likely the selector unit. If you are able to do a code scan it will probably have a fault for the interlock solenoid.
@@GeminiAutoWorks Yes it rises but Im unable to rotate it. So it mean that it is most likely selector. I have noticed that 1R00 resistor is burn on the board.

It’s usually a circuit board failure, rather than the solenoid. They last forever.

Not particularly. The vehicle still won’t select gears without you pressing the brake pedal, so it’s a double interlock really.
