- This was Dave Grohl's first show with Nirvana. Setlist: Love Buzz, Scoff, Sliver, Turnaround. Love Buzz also appears on WTLO DVD, I'm just uploading the rest that surfaced from this show. Enjoy.

I remember this show. I was 15 I believe at the time. Around 1990 just before halloween. Didnt know much about them at the time other then word of mouth around town. I just like to go to live shows around my town. Death Squad, Splat, Forced Entry were some killer shows. I also remember Soundgarden at the capital theater and Alice in Chains at Evergreen. Those were the days

Grohl beats the shit out of drums....he's like animal from the muppet show.
apparently at the end they held up his snare drum as it was broken and said they had a new drummer. at least I think that's how it went.
Looks like he had that same energy as a drummer from the very start, which is awesome. perfect fit for the loud energy of nirvana.

I was there too and I think it was during "Blew" that they blew a fuse and lost all power. And Dave Grohl STILL kept pounding on his kit while they waited for the power to come back on.

I was gonna go, but my band wanted to rehearse that night. Did make it down to The Reef later though. I missed way too many cool shows around that era.
Actually North Shore Surf club was where some travel and shoe store are now. Between US Bank and 5th Ave.
The old Thekla was there later.
The Tropicana is right by where the Northern used to be (now behind the Fishbowl).
Incidentally, I did my first stage dive at this particular show!

No, the guitar in question is a very rare Mosrite Gospel. Its completely stock except for the flipped strings. That guitar sold on ebay in 2002 I think, for $30,000.
Mosrite now makes a Kurdt copy.

I hope someday... Nirvana reuinites to pay tribute to Kurt... Krist, Dave, Pat, and maybe Kurt's daughter or different artists.
@Sappy22889 I think it is best the way it happened. I think Kurt got exactly what he wanted, but it was too bright when he finally reached it. Everyone got what they want...kurt is a legend...his family is taken care of finacially...he wrote amazing music...and kurts in a quiet place now
I wonder if Grohl had any idea when he played that gig that it would start him on the path to great commercial success, playing with most of his idols and being twice over a staple of MTV, first with Nevermind then with everything the Foos have done.. what do you people think?

I highly doubt it Nirvana hadn' achieved rock star fame quite yet.
a blackut happened at this show, Nirvana had to reduce their equipment due to this, Ghrol had to limt his drum kit.

Great, but man, wish I could hear Kurt. His mic wasn't potted up high enough.
Anyone think that the solo that starts at about 2:12 is one of the best ever? Also, what's that guitar Kurt is playing? Curious that a left-handed guitarist should play a right-handed guitar... but then so did Hendrix and if it's good enough for Hendrix, then it ought to be good enough for both Cobain and for me...

Haha man I wish was Pat Smears :P And apparantly someone or other was working on getting kurt cobain his own personal Mosrite but he unfortunately died.
I heard the guy yell BLEW not in bloom but Thats just my hearing of it. The lithium thing....kinda creepy imo.
