Ha I know, and they don't make it easy. They cleaned it up nicely for Super Punch-Out!! where you just tap it once and blocking low punches is automatic.
I turn off my ad blocker when I watch your videos. You're the only RUclipsr I do this for. It's criminal that you're not already one of the top walkthrough channels on this platform. Keep up the excellent work.
Block, block, block, block, block, punch....dead. Lmao. I most definitely don't mind the updated reuploads! With all the great content you share, it's a great way to revisit videos I really like but might get a bit lost in the sauce. Excellent class as always!
This is my favorite video game, and I have knocked out Mike Tyson every year of my life, since I got this game on Christmas all those years ago. I cannot WAIT to watch this.
I've played Mike Tyson's Punch Out since it was released back in the day, and beaten Glass Joe over and over, and yet NEVER knew about that tip! Scary Gary, you're the best.
Yep, it's a finicky timing, split second when it comes to landing it to keep him down, but it's extraordinarily satisfying when it happens, even in spite of the opponent.
Why the reupload? This was the walkthrough that made me subscribe a couple months ago btw, not only was it very relaxing to listen to, your gaming skill and effort you put into these walkthroughs is unmatched. You have the best tips and trivia that I haven't heard anywhere else. Super underrated and charming channel
Thank you Shark, yep just fixing the aspect ratios and other small details on some of the older classes plus adding new facts. It's very much appreciated!
I enjoyed this video thoroughly. 2 thumbs up. I loved this game. Always thought it deserved a stand alone sequel. Any chance of doing something like this with the original Punch Out? That would be killer
This game has so much strategy and technique to it it's crazy! It's really more of a puzzle game than a boxing game. I could get though most of it without too much trouble but the timing on Bald Bull's Bull Charge always messed me up. I also had a lot of problems with Mr. Sandman and his fake out timing. Punch-Out!! Wii is a master class on how to remake a game, and is absolutely phenomenal!
I agree. For an NES game on the 8-bit console it's impressive how accurately a SUDDEN fistfight between opponents can work in vg form. How I wish for a boxing anime centered around the Mario Bros (Waluigi and Wario are included) as fisticuff savants specifically due to some mafia-esque "Mario" legend in New York City concerning Italian plumbers that were connected to "The Mushroom Kingdom" /fugetaboutit /TruffleWars
Ha to answer your question, they held the press conference where the Badds from Bionic Commando hold theirs, and they had the camera crew from Tag Team Wrestling there to capture everything.
@VideoGames101 nice! I thought it was something like that but I didn't recognize the component pieces. It looks awesome! I convinced myself that the cameraman on the left was a machine-gunner sprite from some other game I didn't recognize lol
Hey Prof, all the T.A.'s (especially Scary Gary - Scary Barry, how Doc gonna do him like that?). I am stunned that you keep getting these big name guests!!?! Just a couple of quick questions if thats cool? You don't think Hippo could be carrying bulk water weight in an attempt to intimidate opposition at the pre fight? Why do you think Doc is so dismissive? And finally, how does L. Mac qualify with such a weight discrepancy? Thank you for your exceptional work.
I got the Mike Tyson version back in 92 right before Christmas break along with Where In Time Is Carman San Diego. Don Flamingo always gave me a hard time because you couldn't just attack him head on.
Yeah, I always liked to go full offense when I'd play as a kid. Heh didn't have the patience for reacting but as you said that won't work as well with Don.
So there's another arcade game that has Bald Bull in it, but it never saw a console release. Nintendo's Arm Wrestling game in the arcade. I'd only recently become aware of this strange game and its even stranger game sounds. The roster reminds me of Punch Out.
Glass Joe +Don Flaminko share sprite. Von Kaiser+Great Tiger share sprite. Piston Honda+ Dream/Mike Tyson share sprite. Bald Bullshit +Sandman share sprite. Soda Pop +Super Macho Man share sprite. King Hippo and Little Mac are the only sprites that are used only once.
Why is is that the Mike Tyson code is burned into my brain and I can recite it like my SSN number, but I can't remember where I parked when I go into the grocery store?
The thing I never liked about Punch-Out is that you can't really just get good at the combat and win. It's basically an action puzzle game with a boxing skin. Then again, that's what makes it awesome and iconic. If you wanted to just play a boxing game you can just go play one of those.
Once againn, you made a very difficult game look like childs play. Lol. Well done. The only tip I think you missed was pressing select in between rounds to regain a bunch of health. Not that you really needed it until the dream fight. Lol
I hate to admit this, I've never beat Mike Tyson. When I could find someone who had this game, as none of my rental stores had it, I could get to Tyson but never got past the first round. Before I could practice on him, the person who I borrowed it from wanted it back. Now, when I play it, I'm not as good. I own a physical copy of both versions of the game, but usually only play it on something else like emulation. The dodging isn't as tight as the original, and my games are now in storage.
I've only beat him via points, aka never a TKO or even a possible K.O. that I'm told is rumored to be hidden in the Mike Tyson's Punch-Out version (an instant K.O. move basically that doesn't affect Mr. Dream the same way)
@@VideoGames101 SEGA got some mega bucks with Virtual Tennis when the Dreamcast was still a thing, meanwhile all these years since Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! Nintendo could've used the current heavyweight champ's likeness and brand as their draw for a new Punch-Out almost every new year since 1987.
Yeah he's crazy hard, surviving that first round. This took many tries because my nerves and reaction speed is typically shot after going through the full cast.
Doc isn't doing a whole lot to help his image. If anything, just lending to the notion he is _on the take_ as far as the systemic corruption the sport is accused of on a regular basis. One thing that stuck out to me, especially with King Hippo... Given his sensitivity to punches on that banged spot and where it's located, I'm thinking the dude has an undiagnosed hernia. The bandage is practically inviting opponents to pummel it, too. Given the dangers of a hernia in a full contact sport like boxing? Hippo shouldn't be in the ring, he needs to see a specialist stat! The wrong hit there could burst his guts and lead to a painful and fatal episode 😳
@@VideoGames101 Considering the lavish lifestyle Mario is likely accustomed to, for the small mint in gold coins he's likely to collect on any princess saving adventure, can we truly discount that maybe, _just maybe_ Doc had a factor in Mario failing to make that judgment call? 💀

I wouldn't put it past Hippo, especially considering there's no weight regulations/restrictions whatsoever in the VGBA.

First time I played Punch Out was in the 80s after school at a friends house, who lived across from the elementary.
Professor How did get so good at playing all these video games? Professor: FINGERSPEED!!! :)

great work on the intro, way to recycle and repurpose the game artin an awesome way, great work!
Thank you Spayseghost!
Never beat this game and I am jealous of anyone who has. Gary was the MVP of the day!
He earned his salary with this one!
Mr. Dream kinda looks like Aaron Judge.
Do you think Mr. Dream is tougher than Tyson?
I never realized little mac was so thicc. I don't know what else to say, I can't unsee it now
it does make me wonder, how does Don Flamenco lose to Little Mac, but yet somehow makes it past the first Bald Bull.🤔🤔
He's definitely paying somebody under the table... maybe Mario in dance lessons.

I’d rather become a beginner male ballet dancer than a boxer or wrestler. I chose ballet as my passion. I chose to love a female ballerina.
So who is the 1 person that Glass Joe beat?
There is this theory that he knocked down him self
I could never beat Soda Popinski
Yeah as Gary says that's when the timing really becomes challenging and reaction speed is a must.
Mr. Dream? Not my champ!
Nor anyone's by the end of this one!
No way! MIKE TYSONS the only legit version of this game, suggest any different and I will throw hands!
Also, Blaze the special punch is not an uppercut. If anything its... i guess a roundhouse punch?
Ha agree to disagree!
Manual refers to it as an uppercut so we're just going by that.
