what is the shortcut key to Select next layer up/down in layers panel in illustrator, not on artboard layers. in layers panel i want
Thanks For the tutorial.. But one thing i want to know and no one has answerd it. "How to merge multiple layers n content into one single layer..Like the it work in photoshop one we sleect few layers and press Ctrl+E it merge all content into one layer how to do the same in illustrator.
i need that option for after effect because in after effect if i want to distribute an object into layers it create 100s of layers which make it impossible to work for animation. I want to select and create single layer for lets say Eyes, face etc. But in illustrator its eye and inside it too many layers of every single line which is very bad and i cant find a way to mege it into single layer..

I'm having an issue where I'll create a new item and it's always stuck behind everything. All layers are unlocked and I've tried "send to back" for the old stuff and "sent to front" for the new item but my new item is always stuck on the bottom. I've been using Adobe for a few months just teaching myself and never had this issue until I decided to get brave and try using layers, so I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong with layers? Nothing seems locked though!
if for example i have 8 layers, how do I select from layer 1 to layer 6 directly without pressing shift + click the layer 1 by 1 ? I tried to click layer 1 and then I click layer 6, illustrator didn't block layer 2,4,5. How do I select multiple layer directly ? Is there any way ? thank you for the video by the way.
That was my first question when I started to learn illustrator. Unfortunately, this is not possible in any versions Adobe released yet (CC2018). We can only hope they'd add this feature.
So I "Alt + Shift + Click" on Layer Names to select One by One.. or you can use Selection column or Appearance Rings(which will skip locked object)

Is it Vector Editable File (ai, eps, svg?) or Raster Image (JPG, PNG, GIF etc)?

Select that whole single layered shape > Ungroup (if it's grouped) > Right click > Release Compound Path. Done.
If that doesn't work then select your desired inner shapes with DIRECT SELECTION TOOL (A) & Press Ctrl X (cut) and then Ctrl F (paste in front).
Do Ask me if anything goes wrong.
It's not working bro. There's no "ungroup" option on right click (I think because it's already ungrouped) and the "compound path" its disable (greyed out). I know how to do this in photoshop but what I need is vector files because of the quality. Do you have another solution? Thanks again.
Then there is only way. Select with Direct Selection Tool (A) > Cut (ctrl x) > Paste in Front (Ctrl F).
I still can't find how to select multiple objects from the layer panel other than Shift + clicking individually every object in the little circle in the right. This selects various objects but not in the workspace but to move them from layer to layer. It's so frustrating. Anyone?
