Honestly, fidget spinners really help with my anxiety. I have a nervous habit where I need to be doing something with my hands when my anxiety rises. And my fidget spinner has genuinely helped. I remember having a conversation with my brother, who also deals with anxiety...(our childhood was sad) ANYWAY...I was using my fidget spinner & it oddly enough, calmed my anxiety & even helped me focus more on the conversation. I've even used it while sitting in church listening to the service. For some reason when I just have to SIT & LISTEN to people talk, that urge rises for the need to just do something! ANYTHING. So thank God for fidget spinners because I'd be a restless, OCD, anxiety ridden mess without one.
its a shame that they became a trend and then got banned in a bunch of schools, plus the fact that they got the shit memed out of them, because they kinda useful for people who actually need something like that
@@ciarangale4738 People who made fidget spinners: So we made this relatively quiet, non-intrusive thing that can help people with ADHD or need to stim, so that they have a chance to be able to focus on the things around them, like when they need to be able to study or listen to a lecture for example Schools, apparently: Oh good. I borrowed a friend’s to help me get through a series of required classes to learn a new program at work. It was agonizingly boring to the point I was actual no joke furious. Having a fidget spinner to direct my attention on something other than my hatred of the class.
I feel like it’s important to keep in mind that fidget spinners are actually disability aids, and they actually do help keep the focus of people with ADHD and autism. I’m autistic, and this has been a life saver over distance learning.
I am too but all it would do for me is make my brain go “spiiiiiiinnnnnnnn” and not hear anything at all 😐 though to be fair, all of my fidgets do that.
Actually, the fidget spinner does calm anxiety, and attention issues. But, people who don't have these ruined it by abusing them. The fidget spinner was made for the creator's child. Fun fact: they are sometimes labeled as "autism spinners" because they can be a coping mechanism for people with autism or ADHD... as someone with ADHD the figet cube is better
As someone also ADHD... different strokes for different folks, I like the spinner better Gotta use the cube when I need to be quiet tho, my spinner rattles like nobody's business lol
One day... I will get the fabled fidget cube. Hopefully it will cut down on my other less “practical” stimming such as finger snapping and biting my fingers.
As someone who has severe anxiety and symptoms of PTSD, I find my weighted spinner to be extremely helpful. My mind will create negative thoughts for no reason, and the stress manifests physically. This can range from bouncing my leg or playing with my hair to biting my lip and picking my heels so hard they bleed. Having something to fiddle with that lets off nervous energy has been a huge help. Sometimes I don’t want a cube or a slinky or little puzzle, and I find the spinner to be fun. I can figure out new tricks or practice ones I know (which takes more focus than you’d think) or just spin it and give my hands something harmless to do. Diverting my focus can also help if not stop panic episodes and even negative memories and breakdowns. I do think the mass popularity of it had ruined it for some time, but since they’ve died down, having one has been super helpful. I love mine because it’s black, silent, and has weights in it so I can really feel it in my hand. I use it all the time during my college classes, and many students and some professors are surprised when they find out about it.
