What are your thoughts on the people who tried to claim his fortune?

Greedy ghouls are everywhere. Money brings them out of the mud where they live.

A huge portion of his estate was used to establish the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. HHMI manages over $20 billion and gives out grants for medical research.

That began with the proceeds from the sale of TWA. In order to avoid taxes on the sale he put the proceeds into a foundation which didn't do much until after he died.

Great video. I was a crew chief on the Hughes Light Observation OH 6A helicopter in the Republic of Vietnam. Safest helicopter ever. No hydraulics, all pitch pull. A lot of history involved in the Hughes Tool Company at Culver City. A fellow alumni and acquaintance of mine from Georgia Southern (College) University was a city manger at Culver City, California. Howard Hughes suffered a lot in his life. Godspeed...

Martin Scorsese's biopic is a cinematic masterpiece! A lot of Hughes' life story was left out. Scorsese could still do a sequel

I’m shocked at the government just didn’t appropriate & absorb all the funds for themselves. That’s what usually happens to people’s money that die without having Wills.

I saw a video roughly a week ago on You Tube exactly about this, seemingly a creditable one,but who knows. It said Hughes was driving thru death valley about 25 years before his death. His car quit and man with a truck helped Hughes reach his destination. Hughes asked what he owed him and the man said nothing. I was making the trip anyway. Hughes took his name and contact information and said I will compensate you to this one day. Upon Hughes's death a man , probably a lawyer, l didn't catch for sure, brought the man, it just occurred to me he owned a small auto shop and gas station a check for 150,000,000. I don't know if this true but no knowledgeable person would argue that Hughes was a certified eccentric.
