The blades in this video are not the original blades in my first video. These are the new finishing blades. John Kavli's website is here - lawn-mowerblades.com/
Thank you for this video. I just ordered a set of these blades and can't wait to try them out!
They say the center hole is ½" but my scag is ⅝", what did you order?
@@turf7empest Well I didn't actually order them. They just sent them to me. But if your center hole is 5/8. then it's 5/8. Double check then let them know.
I know nothing about throttles! All I know is your videos, sounds and all, are very satisfying! Thank you!
Well thanks for taking the time to let me know! Glad you like them. :)
15:16 I’m glad you showed this, I was wondering that exact thing and I’m always bottoming out my deck.
Oh yes, I think that would be everybody's concern. Never did scrape a driveway or sidewalk.
Those are simply incredible blades. Going to heck his website now. Thank you for sharing. Take care.
Your welcome, they're the real deal! Awesome blades!
Really good video Mike love the new blades
Man that finisha blade made that grass look beautiful
These are very very good. They mow like a dream!
I take it Mike you dream a lot about lawnmower blades in your sleep
@@bradolsen9981 Ha! Yes. And in the morning I hear the "call" of the lawnmowers...
Now that's love!
When I was a kid, we used Reel Mowers, you didn’t dare let your grass get to long, or you had to cut it by hand, with a sickle. Since owning one of the new mowers, with these blades, I stopped hating grass cutting, yard work. Good equipment makes a big difference in your attitude, toward yard maintenance. I love these blades, leaves the yard looking beautiful! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
After getting the Original blades, I’m quite happy with the results. I’m in central Illinois, Black fertile ground, thick, tough grass/weeds, but these blades tame the yard/field, better than my farmer neighbors yards. Since I’m not a commercial mower, these make me look like one. These blades make your brand of mower, look at its best, and beyond expectations! I wouldn’t be at all afraid to buy these new ones for my city mowing. I’ll probably try a set this winter. Love your videos, & John’s blades! Looking forward to more of these videos!
My new blades are in California, on the way!
Oh, I forgot to mention that. Like you say, the edge of the cut is like a laser. Very crisp straight line.
Nice work as usual. Those blades def lay down a nice cut👍!
Great to see videos that show exactly what is happening. Your videos don't beat around the bush you show every thing whether good or bad. Your reviews from what I have seen are as honest as they come very refreshing. Others cut videos and are not as forthcoming. Mike what I want to know is you say the motor is not straining I run a team of mowers and the amount of gas that I use and the wear and tear is great what are the benefits of these blades for the professional such as yourself and others like me.
I hear what you're saying. We go through a lot of gas too. Which is another reason why I don't often run at full throttle. It's just not necessary. With these blades even more so. Many regular consumers don't know how the throttle governor works. The mower may seem as though it's keeping roughly the same RPM as you mow through thicker grass, but that's because your governor is calling on more fuel flow. You hear a difference when it reacts, but that's why they don't stall out. But in this case you'll notice that you don't even hear a reaction. Even on the really thick stuff at the end. The engine just stays constant. That a sure sign that it's not encountering strain, and not calling for more fuel.
Getting an upgrade is always a good feeling when you notice the difference, i like the firts/bigger mower, when you go over the sidewalk it sounds like a helicopter hovering over head! Cool upgrade 😎
Great job with new blades. Thanks for sharing.
You bet
Those are some awesome blades Mike. Great cut
I totally agree. Very impressed with them.
YOUR ONE OF MY FAVORITE RUclipsRS EVER
I love my beast blades took on the world and mowed it down. Thanks Hans and Mike , now the Finisha I have to get it. I am trying to explain to people how much less stress is put on the mower which means a faster mow less gas that's money in my pocket.
Exactly. And the Finisha blades sail through this stuff even easier than the Beast blades. You will love them. I left them on the mowers and I'll come back and report how they do on a long term test. I'm using them for all my yards now.
@@Something2LookAt would you use these all the time or do you use the extreme ?
@@kiraniumbra Yes, I leave them on all the time. They mow great in all grass types.
good to see you back! i remember a few years ago i was bugging you to try out the 6 blade theory...
Yes. Of course you know that I did try that? Video is here - ruclips.net/video/BSKgP7eboI8/видео.html
Love love love!!! Nice job! 😍
Oh wow, look who it is! Nice to see you. :)
And we love the reply
Something 2LookAt Bahahah!!! 😂🤣😂
Your cheetah is the most, but the great dane I always have thought is just cool.
Never seen such of a blade but let me tell you thats a beautiful cut.
lol, yea, they're kinda weird, but they work very well!
@@Something2LookAt I like the fact that it mulches so well that it saves you so much time.
What John said about those blades he means it they are very impressive cutting blades
Great video.
when I was a kid, on a school field a huge field, they used a guy with a huge red mower, blades on each side. Over the summer the grass and weeds were well over 3' high and he went into them head on at full speed. he cut a cool maze type path for use to run through. Every time I see huge mowers, I remember that guy. that was 3rd grade, so about 1972 or so
Great story! That guy "got it" when it comes to professionalism vs fun and happiness. :)
Nice tiller you got there
Great video mate! They're awesome hey, really want to put them on my other ZTs now. I actually gave mine a try in X configuration too (2 blades per spindle) and it does awesome. Definitely the way to go for long grass slashing :D
Very impressive.
the original video you did on these was impressive
These are not those blades. These are his new finishing blades.
@@Something2LookAt i know. it's just nice to see his stuff still getting worked on.
I'd love to see another run through that last area with the blade wings set below the deck edge. I feel like that would eliminate those few popups and make a (mostly) acceptable one cut pass.
Still hard to believe those wings don't tear up the lawn or leave some kind of obvious pattern. Hope John got a patent on that design, the big companies have got to be smacking their engineers in the back of the head asking why they didn't come up with that first lol.
Also want to see how these do on a push-mower - that could make a really interesting "overgrown" video
I was thinking the same thing. If the blades were mounted with all spacers on top, the teeth would hang down more and get all those stranglers on the first pass. I will try that. And yes, I can't figure out how it's not leaving spirals either. ??? But it really isn't.
Yes Dennis we have a design patent in many countries including the U.S.A. and a world wide patent pending.
The teeth look like they would do a good job dethattching.
ford tractor I’ve mowed one week, let the grass set on top, till the next mowing, on long grass/weeds, then when I mowed the next time, it turned the dead grass/ weed, to a dust that blowed away in the wind! That was with 12 - 18” long material! After 1 or 2 more cuttings, the field turned into lawn quality! This was with the Beast Blades. Looks like an Estate, not a field. Been mowing with them ever since, and will continue to, until these new blades arrive! Still getting used to the lack of resistance! That and the economy of running my machine. I don’t have enough work to own a Cheetah, but I am really impressed with everything Mike has done. He sold me on these blades, and I’m not disappointed! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💰
I just seen an ad on instagram for lawnmower blade sharpened and it used one of your videos. It was chances store or some shit
11:00 Whoa I see one of our competitors down the street! Let's go show off our new blades!
They doing good
John, if you happen to be online. Feel free to take these comments and questions. I have to go back to mowing. I'll check back in tonight.
Thanks Mike what a terrific video. We are hoping that your subscribers are enjoying the show. Again Mike a fantastic and professional video.
I bet that the bigger blade and mower companies test blades in a wind tunnel. About 15 years ago I needed to knock down a field of tall weeds with my Toro 117 Groundsmaster with a 52” deck so I installed a set of Gator blades on it UPSIDE DOWN, and ran with the deck tilted up. It worked good but it wasn’t fun getting weeds thrown around and sometimes into my face.
Wow! What a unique idea! Yea I bet that was a weed storm!
Nice testing; strange blades, especially with those "teeth"
Nice video
How many hours do you have on the scag and Great Dane? How reliable are they? Any issues?
Scag has 1500 hours and nothing but belts have broke. 8 years old! The Great Dane is almost 20 years old and it had 2300 hrs when the Kawasaki blew. When we put the new engine on it, I'm afraid we never did put a new hour meter on it. So, who knows?
I've always wondered why u like to run at low throttle? Isn't it harder to get clean cut?
I think it's a sound issue. I believe the Great Dane is full throttle in this video. Cheetah is close to it.
Nice!
Now you have a cool name!
Something 2LookAt thanks man!
That's stuff I would never take a push mower through. Nice job!
Curiously, this big mower takes 3 of the 21 inch blades. My small mower takes I think a 21 inch blade. Hmmm, I might try one of these on the regular push mower!
What engine do you have on your cheetah? I have the Kohler 29hp and it seems way underpowered compared to my 35hp
It has the Kawasaki 850V, which is apparently only 27 HP even though it says 31 right on it. Plenty of power though.
Gawd thats a clean cut my guy, how can I aquire some of these blades.
Link in top pinned comment.
Do they ship to the U.S.? I came across your video and I'm extremely interested and have tried everything here where I'm at. I'm in South Texas where we have St. Augustine grass and Bahia tall farm grass and the last couple years I've been trying so many options to get a clean look without it being a chore or having to cut in a slow crawl. The Bahia is such tough grass with seed stalks also and have to cut twice a week so that it doesn't bog my mower down while cutting, yet I have to bag about 4 contractor bags of grass a week so as to not leave so much dead long grass blades in my yard every week, because that will not break down on its own like that. I have a John Deere Z525e Z-trak mower. It takes forever to cut having to go so slow. Would these work? Would I need to have a commercial type mower? I've tried 2 types of gator blades and they cut just ok but I shouldn't have to cut to a slow creep in order to do so. I can't do the x-blade set up I was told because it's only for a commercial mower with larger spindles. Can these be used on homeowner Z-trak mowers? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm at my wits end here. Thank you
Yes, they will ship there.
What height did you cut at?
I gotta know how come lawn service doesn't mow in a straight line to give the lawn a nice finish?.
I would love to see you use them on burmuda grass.
The problem I see with these blades on finish turf, is the downward portion of the blade. It seems to me, it would cause excess damage to the ends of the blades of grass... causing more browning in a day or two, more moisture loss through the blade, and greater potential for "rust" (a red fungi that is especially threatening to fine blade turf grasses) or other parasites.
HI Sylent Xtinction we have been using the Beast blade for over three years testing and re testing haven't seen anything that you could classify as threatening to the turf. The Finisha has been used on a golf course turf for approximately 13 months nothing that we could identify as negative to the turf. It is a good and well justified comment thank you for that .Regards John
@@johnkavli8181 great work John good way to save our bums from endless hours of high grass mowing in summer in Qld. Can you make blades at 453.64mm to suit a 36" hustler Raptor SD? I don't have the centre size but you probably do.
@@terryinozland Hi Terry not sure if we got back to you but yes we can
Been watching your videos for a while, and I've always wanted to ask why you never run your mower wide open? It seems you are always throttled back.
There is actually rarely a reason to run at full throttle. The idea that the engine manufacturer requires the engine to always be run at full throttle is a myth. Many people make that claim, but nobody can show it in a manual. There are occasions for running full throttle, but most of the time it's just wasting gas. And with these big engines, it's a lot of gas. I look at clipping disbursement only. Whatever throttle level is laying it down nice and even is what I go with.
@@Something2LookAt I understand it has to do withe speed of the cooling fan keeping the air cooled engine the correct temp. Lugging a air cooled engine at low speed cooled overheat it since the airflow will be lower than the engine was designed for.
@@michaelgray2793 But also notice my ground speed. I generally also mow slower than most people. If you listen to the engine tone you'll notice that I am staying aware of the work load. These blades were sailing right through it so revving up wasn't necessary. But if I were using standard blades I may have need full throttle.
Just as impressive as the "beast" blades. IMO left that lawn looking like velvet.
That's what I was saying at the end. They are quite a bit different, but they can do what the Beast blades do. I was shocked! I left them on. I'll be running them full time on all my yards because the finish is very nice!
@john kavli do you make the finisha blade for any Wright standers yet?
We will be making for most machines ckeck if your length and hole size are there if not email us on our site and we will get back to you. The Finisha will be online as soon as possible. Thank you Robbie.
DenversGamingChannel Hi Denver, this is our website https// lawn-mowerblades.com

Do you sharpen blades if they are brand new?
THAT is a good question! I don't know. I did sharpen these, but I don't always sharpen brand new blades. Hard to tell how sharp it is under all that paint. John, you would know. Are consumers in general supposed to sharpen brand new blades?
Hi Aurizx no need to sharpen we do that they are right to go when you get them.
Where do you buy that lawn mower blade
The link is in the top pinned comment.
I like to see a blade. That would help clean the deck out better. It's losing vacuum cutting so much grass.
Now that would be a great invention. I know what you're talking about. When sticky grass starts sticking to the underside of the deck, it's only a matter of time before you gotta get under there and scrape.
Scraping your deck is inevitable, and you don’t want too much vacuum; yet I completely understand what your saying. Ed Wright does a great video explaining their “aerocore” decks on the Wright mowers in one of their videos.
To think you need a bushhogg but cutting that stuff but the cheetah had no problem doing it at all
lol, yea, if I'm doing this with a zero turn, can you imagine what I'd try with a real bush hog?
what is the power of this tractor?
Cheetah 31, Great Dane 27.
Are these made available in the US?
He will ship to the U.S. Link is in the top pinned comment.
Can you supply us with the contact information for this guy named John so I can get a hold of him for these blades thank you Mike for the demonstration well done well done
Yep, it's in the top pinned comment.

11:15 a little of your competition in the top left
Oh yea, I know him. Didn't realize he was there. I'll have to ask him if he noticed me mowing down the middle of the field...
i think its only a matter of time before they start offering mowers with much larger engines.....
Huge engines would be very welcome! :)
Wow. That grass at 28:00 needed a bush-hog, not a finish mower. I realize these mowers are tough, but that's a lot of wear.
It was not stressing!
We get the same reaction all the time until you have used these blades to understand how effortlessly you mower can cut. We now have so many using these blades that they will never go back to standard blades. The people are there in the comments. Please read what they say.
I think that I need one of those finish blades on my Deere.
Oh I forgot to mention. These are much cheaper than the "Beast" blades. Aaah, sorry John. Forgot to mention.
Have you tried the Predator blades? I run them on my Z920m. 👍
@@joshslawnlandscape9935 No I haven't. Honestly I'm gonna have to look that one up. You like them?
@@Something2LookAt apologies, that was for Jeff the original commentor. I'm not sure if they make them for SCAG, but they are pretty similar to Gator Blades. They are sold at a lot of JD dealers, brand is XHT. I really like them though for my JD Z920. Nice long cutting edge and durable. 👍😎💪
Cheetah Power!
Yeah Mike, the laws never stop growing ...Great Dane mowing better?
Oh yea, the Great Dane is like new.
Yeah , that ditch would've turned a "Mowing " video into a "Towing " video...!!
Hello friend
Hello!
19:30 - I'm assuming here... the reason the clippings have better post processing, is the raised position of the cutting edge and the airfoil. The downward edge helps maintain the vacuum beneath the blade tip, and thus a higher degree of lift and recycling of the clippings.
That power line right of way looks like a small tractor and brush hog would work well
Oh when they finally do mow it, they bring in a huge bush hog. I hope to film them doing that some day. I never know when they're gonna do it.
Something 2LookAt so this was for the sake of the new blades? I see. I thought you were mowing the whole thing, lol! I like catching the tractors when they mow the pipeline that runs by my house.
@@kkingquad Oh yea, I was just mowing this for the video. Nobody ever tells me I can't mow these areas. I think they take all the help they can get.
I really wanted to be impressed with those blades. However, I can see what they're doing on the first pass, and then they pretty much clean it up on the second pass. Honestly I think any sharp blade would do the same. I may still have to try a set and see how they do
Oh no they wouldn't! Of course on a mower like this, the first pass would be pretty good even with the standard blades that came with it. But with a lot of experience with this mower and can tell you it is far better than standard or even Gator blades. Very impressive.
Shannalangley yes love you McAlester girl 🖤❤💜🧡💛💚💙
hey
You've got one or more worn out pulleys on the Great Dane mower..................Their loud.
No no, the deck is actually swaying from side to side. I'll fix that. All the pulleys and spindles are new! I restored this mower on this channel.
@@Something2LookAt do the GD's have a Panhard Bar on the deck?
@@JeffreyStrader No it just has the arms with the big bushings. I replaced the bushings but there's more stuff loose. It is 20 years old of course. I will get creative and tighten it up.
Too bad there are no blades like that for regular lawn mowers.
Yes there are. Same blade. This video takes 3 of the 21 inch blades. A regular mower takes 1. I will probably do that soon and show you guys. :)
Yes pretty soon Mike.
@@johnkavli8181 Actually I did notice that other blade you showed. You're full of surprises aren't you? :)
We try maybe like you said make our type of ( X ) Blades ?
@@johnkavli8181 Oh they don't weld them together or anything. Like for this experiment I'll just put a Beast and a Finisha on the same spindle 90 degrees staggered. I did it with Gator blades once on a video. Seems like they would drift from 90 degrees but they don't move. Even if they did they would still drift evenly and still be balanced, but they don't. It will be a fun "How bad can bad get?" experiment. lol
gostaria de ter um cheetah
