- Strike Team 9084 of the Victorian CFA, travelling code 1 (lights and sirens) in a convoy to the NSW Bushfires just south of Newcastle as first responders.
The fire can be seen out of the right side of the appliances.

Imagine my surprise when in the first 3-4 seconds I start to recognise the scenery in this rather random clip. That is Belmont between Lake Macquarie and the Ocean. The incident looks like it was at Redhead in which case I was at that fire in the later days of it. I didn't know Vic units had come up. Good job guys.
yes it was to redhead we come up from Sydney code one, we where first strike team , we where there for 8 hours until a local team was able to take over

I've worked as a dispatcher in the incident control of major campaign fires: We didn't dispatch just by units, we dispatched by taskforces: I think it was a group of about 14 tankers all on their way after a single dispatch order. Great fun!
Nobody pulls over?????Each truck should have a camera to record plate numbers to send a little fine reminder in the mail.
The only time people don't move is around 1:40 where both lanes are stopped at red traffic lights...with nowhere to move to.

Just a slight comment, I'm with RFS so these might be different however we use yellow, blue, red so it would actually be code blue (lights and sirens) which must always be used when responding apart from late-night AFAs. Proceeding to an incident is code yellow (no lights or sirens). I believe only the police use code 1, 2, 3 etc.
This is a Victorian team, code 1 to them is lights and sirens.
@@harosokman And CFS is different again, we use priority 1,2 etc. With priority 1 being lights & sirens and the 'default' response.
Ex nsw police here. No such thing as code 1, 2 or 3. It is
either proceeding code red to a priority 2 incident in which is a lights and sirens response. Code blue is just attending under normal road conditions. Signal 1 is the most highest priority which police from all different commands attend. For eg a police shooting, police needing urgent assistance. Don’t know where you got signal 2 or 3 from. Yes there is a signal 1 which is usually broadcast. Y police radio. I am also ex nsw fire brigade. We used to use blue code 7 when responding. On scene was Blue Code 8 code 1 entering rfs area was blue code 6. I believe they use different codes now.
Blue, Yellow and Red are for messages, not responses to calls.
Yellow= non fire related message.
Blue= fire related message
Red= urgent fire related message.
There is also White which is used when an appliance comes across a call that hasn't been reported to 000 yet

Long time ago but you should know its illegal for vehicles to run red lights so emergency vehicles have to wait.
@@aflaz171 in just about every country of the world emergency services are permitted to ignore lights and some other road rules where safe.

@@aflaz171 I know in Qld at least it’s not illegal as long as it’s safe you can proceed cautiously through a red light and let the emergency vehicle through

they where from D9 the truck was from Westbury (near Moe Vic), sorry for the double post still trying to learn how to do all this
The trucks on this strike team were Lengatha, westbury, berrys creek(still had Ruby's name on the side), Welshpool and I think warragul. Drouin west FCV and Toora big fill.
The last 2 trucks could be wrong.

people are so stupid. what point of stop and pull over do people not get? Its a federal law that you must stop, slow down and move over for emergency vehicles No questions ask

Justin Little Pull over WHERE SAFE TO DO SO! this is a little detail that people like to forget.
1. must be safe to do so. 2. pull over to the left rather than slow down. 3. the crew is a litle gung ho, when traffic is blocked, best turn your sirens off and not destroy the hearing of cars infront, its also less likely to make them freak out and try move into a potentially dangerous position on the road.
@@paddyc93 the siren and lights have to be operational when going code 1 through an intersection, the lights only need to be on the rest of the time, but at intersections sirens must be on. Although I believe it's not absolutely necessary if there's no cars around, like at 3am or something, but it's best to err on the side of caution, someone could appear seemingly out of nowhere.
Traffic laws are set by the state. No federal laws involved

Start with putting Q's on the engines. Cross over the island and go against traffic.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIII I would use a GE Powercall with some Nathan air horns off of a EMD or GE locomotive.
Rumblers would be better, they do the same thing a Q does but you can keep the current sirens people already recognise
code 1 is no lights no sirens
code 2 is lights no sirens (Only clearing intersections for sirens)
code 3 is lights and sirens the whole way
In the USA it is but not there.
In Australia in nsw we have a code for things but one code is to proceed to a fire is no light or siren but if we are responding it's lights and sirens
Victorian CFA is code 1 lights and sirens. Code 3 is no lights, no sirens, normal traffic rules apply. Code 2 does not exist in the Victorian CFA

in California there's no code one there's only code two and 3 code 2 is urgent but no lights and sirens code 3 is lights and Sirens or just lights.
The way the RFS HQ handled the Dudley fire was a joke. many local RFS brigades were at station on standby and didnt roll cause HQ wanted to give the CFA something to do. Absolute joke, bring in people from out of state with zero local knowledge so the CFA can have a moment of glory and make out it was worthwhile bringing in interstate teams. The local RFS and FR didnt need any help. Why was several RFS brigades not utilized, so my comment is ignorant. I remember one night a RFS Groupie had to go and take the CFA team to a servo using the local RFS district fuel card cause the CFA didnt have a fuel card, pretty smart move by CFA hierarchy. Pretty stupid responding in a city that you have never been before
The volunteers on that strike team will take that as a thank you for giving up their time to assist with your fires. You're welcome..

I was the driver on this truck, we where told that there was no one available as that the local crews where exhausted and need some down time. we where taken off the line from a other fire to attend this one, as to the moment of glory we will always come to the aid of our fellow firefighters just like you guys come to ours, it not about the glory
