the difference between copying/imitating is also how your audience relates to you. For example, I left architecture as well. that was a major draw card to your content. I found Matt because of the Netflix doc. It's just so different.
Funny thing is - as somebody busy upskilling before launching a channel later this year, I don’t know if Daniel has yet quite realized how the wheel has turned and how he is inspiring people like me in exactly the same way Matt inspired and ‘mentored’ him. I love Matt as well and admire his filmmaking skills which is perhaps his ‘genius’. As good as Daniel is technically as well, I feel his genius is his willingness to be so authentically vulnerable - not in a self serving narcissistic way but in a way where you feel he is a fellow pilgrim on a journey - much further than we are - but accompanying rather than instructing. I’m not criticizing Matt at all - both guys communicate on levels that are perhaps inaccessible to the other. I just feel if I had to describe the effect Daniel is having on my life is that he lives that passage (I have no idea if he’s a person of faith or not but anyway: ‘What God requires of you is this. And only this: To act justly. To love tenderly. And to walk humbly with your God.’
Really enjoyed this one, especially the section about consuming content being a hindrance to originality. It seems so unnatural to remove oneself from consuming to create, going to give it more of a go.
This video was like a drug, I can't stop seeing it, not even for a second. Loved it! You are doing an amazing content and it was great seen also your source of inspiration hhehehehee.... love Matt Davella to, you guys are amazing talented!!
The only true mentors in life are the words Now and Experience. Otherwise (intentionally or not) you will inherit some of the traits of your tutor (which I am not saying is bad, but why not shape your own form).
