I used a few different papers in this tutorial - if you'd like to know my recommendations, check out my full paper comparison here! ruclips.net/video/JrSwJF-35FM/видео.html
I made a still life of a golden ring and it looked like it's made of paper. I tried the technique you taught and it actually looked like metal. Thank you for improving my art!!!! 😊
This is perfect timing! I recently had an idea for an illustration featuring my original character in gold armor, but I've been having some difficulty with coloring gold.
Thanks Sarah for this demo and information. I can't wait to see (much slower) and try any tutorials for metallic, shiny and glowing objects. Even in less than usual expected colors and hues.
Would love to see more on using reference photos. Thanks so much for helping me overcome the idea that I “am not artistic”. I have kind of just jumped in and started coloring, it’s such a nice way to relax. I try not to focus on being perfect, and by doing lots of light layers, and using gradients, I’ve made some really nice pages! Thanks!
I realized later that I haven’t used them a single time. The top is still the shape of the original sharpening from the manufacturer! I’m sure they are useful and fun, but I think they are mostly a novelty and are better suited in a speciality coloring set instead of confusing people by being in a standard color set.
@@SarahRenaeClark yeah they don't work I have like eight or nine different ones none of them work right love your art thanks for the tip I always want to know how to draw gold and silver and all that stuff
Thank you, for this amazing clear and well explaned tutorial.,I enjoy listening to your tutorial they are helping me a lot as an art student. I would love to see you doing other metal objects like pans teapots.
I agree: the gold and silver pencils are just not good inclusions. I use them to write letters to my family, since it is easier to erase than pen. Not sure what else I would use them for, honestly. Thank you for this fantastic guide! Metallic surfaces shouldn't be as intimidating as it is, and you show that it is a simple process!
💡 I love the color circles over the image! They make the actual color of the pallette so clear....I have your complete color pallette volumes set I was thinking showing these circles right in the digital images in those volumes would be awesome! Love those paint pens
Really great tutorial! Good explanations, and showing a couple of different gold objects being coloured. That segment in the beginning, where you show the colours in a golden object(AND show different gradients) - that is probably going to be indispensable for a lot of people
Hi, I so like your video. You are inspiration in pencil colors art and I have to practice English from your chanel because your English sounds is very clear in explanation to your tools and more other. Thanks for your video. 😊
Hi Sarah Renae, I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and it's been a huge blessing. Ur a blessing. I discovered a talent for drawing when I was 8 years old and Art is my favourite hobby - it's actually therapeutic for me and I love colouring and hyperrealism but have always preferred pencil work and pastels rather than using paint. I truly admire your positivity and love that you keep things on the channel so clean and child-friendly. I have already bookmarked your website and signed on as a member to receive your lovely emails. I am saving up to get your full colour catalogue suite; only my tablet dies a few days ago so now I need to also purchase a new tablet. Love this tutorial. Would love to see a video about using reference images to draw gold and other shiny objects. Every Blessing and keep going.💙💛💚💜💟💞
Thank you so much for your helpful video. I was trying to color a winding ribbon in my Bible, & I wanted to color it gold. Your video helped me a lot. Yes, I would definitely love to see other videos, about using reference photos, as well as learning how to do other metals & glass & gems, etc. Thanks, again. :)
This is an extremely helpful video! The only way I have been making the color gold is to use a yellow pencil and a glitter gel pen. I like how it looks but I want to know the real technique for creating something gold so, thanks Sarah!
I usually use yellow, orange and two shades of brown to make gold. I don't have a white pencil that actually makes things whiter, so I have to leave some parts uncolored to get those light highlights
I've always been scared to color in my artwork because I have a fear of ruining it. Your tutorials are really simple and easy to follow for beginners. There are a lot of tutorial videos out there but hardly ever understood them. I really like the way that you did your "how to color white" tutorial and this one. I did a drawing with one of your techniques with white drawings and can't wait to use this one too!
I would love to try this. I have been trying to color gold for a long time I never seem to get it just right. I know there's a way to slow the video down but I'm not sure how. Thank you very much and I will keep trying. I would love to see another video on coloring gold. Thank you very much for sharing and happy coloring
Thank you so much! I coloured gold for the first time after watching this and while it wasn't perfect it was definitely better than anything I'd ever tried before! 😁 On the same theme, I'm assuming we use white, black and grey for silver? Gonna try it anyway 😊
There's an interesting mixture of Yellow and Dark Brown that make Amber color, and could possibly replicate the colored pencil color Gold with just 1 layer, it's a bit tricky to get right though.
Remembering how is the technique of painting gold * ~ * Thank you for your patience in explaining 😊 I love how different materials can be combined and the work mixed. Highlighting with eyeliner is a good idea because it gives an effect of dimension and I liked the explanation of the shadows to give more volume. ...for the future if you could create a tutorial on the metallic color in gray it would be fantastic and even gems or diamonds! :)
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have your catalog but I hardly 😊ever use it because I get confused.😊 I was also wondering if you could do a tutorial on color gel pens. Since it will soon be Christmas I enjoy bring out glitter gel pens. Thank you
I have not seen any rose gold tutorials that I like. The ones I've seen are really old and use colored pencils that don't match 2021 color codes! (i.e., Prismacolor). Sarah can you please, please do a rose gold tutorial? :-)
Hello Sarah, I saw your gold bow video on Chrome when I was looking for metals painted in colored pencil. Looks like it was posted around April 5, 2021. So incredible! I am having a tough time with the 7 Luminance pencils pictured on the side. No numbers are showing. Would you mind telling me what they are? Doing a piece with a metal mask & a metal hoop skirt. Would love to try your recipe. I am referring to the Instagram pics with the Luminance pencils. I am in Los Angeles. Take care, Rouge
Loved the video gold always looks so complicated but you made it rather simple .....i was wondering what app your using to identify the colors in the reference pictures at the begining of the videos?
@@SarahRenaeClark thank you i have been using a few free color picking apps but they're not as precise as the one you used....i am still new to all this "adult coloring" and still very shy about asking questions thanks for your response
Thanks Sarah. Are you saying Prismacolor Gold and Silver are useless? I'm wanting to draw a mermaid with either colour as a tail. Yuck! I'm colour blind so will just yellow and black work for gold - and what about silver?
Follow the same process but chance the colors you are using to match the colors in silver. To find the colors, try looking at some pictures of silver (or search “silver gradients” on Google) and see if you can do what I did with the gold. Silver will probably use a lot of greys, but there might be some other subtle colors in there.
thank you! but i have a question: i have CarbOthello colored pencils and they're so good but are bigger than the basic ones, and when i sharp them they broke into pieces, so i can't sharp them. How coul'd i sharp these pencils without breaking them? :))
