I bought the same heads for my pump gas 580 cid build. I was planning on putting the same dr 426 rml springs. plan on running 800 net lift. I am glad to see some testing on these.
@WeingartnerRacing no thank you. I have the heads 7 or 8 years due to my project being stalled. Definitely would buy from you in the future when I buy any heads and intakes. I would definitely rather support someone's small business Tham the big guys.
At 15:30, not quite, you don't lose the whole 50g it's closer to 20g, this is because the spring is neither sprung or un-sprung weight, it's a merger of both. So you have to at least half the difference as some of the difference is in the head side and some the retainer side, there is a calculation to work it out, but because the spring is being energized it's not 50-50.
Man, I'm just a street machine dude with already more HP than I can use; but if I ever come up and build another, I'll certainly keep you in mind. I bet those twisted wedges with some bee-hives would be like night & day compared to my old Dart II Iron Eagles. LOL
On BBC heads would love to have measurements on exhaust runners . Just because they need a ton of work compared to other heads . These as specially cause they look better than others. Thanks again for all the knowledge sir
I’m very interested to see Dyno results Eric. . I think it’ll make 60+ hp on your 540 over the current heads. I’ve got Tony Mamo ported 357 AFR’s with a 2.350 valve on my 582 that flow a little better than the 385’s..
Im running Brodix BB2 312cc flow around 350cfm 2.30 valve on a 622ci with a 4.560 bore. Im thinking about up grading to your Brodix 365 Ported to 380cc . Its Pump gas 800 lift. What do you think the power increase mite be?? Thank You for your time Dave
Question, on a 540 BBC would you prefer a light titanium intake valve verse a heavier by 64 grams valve or a heavy & bigger 2.350 valve over a 2.300 titanium valve size? If you could only choose one or the other? 😃
With the badass work you do with the dragon slayer small block heads, have you done any with the big block dragon slayers? Would love to see some real world numbers before I send mine into you to work over.

@@WeingartnerRacing Yeah we’re kind of the black sheep of the big 3 not much after market in comparison with the other 2. About to rip my motor out and do a refresh depending on the condition of the head potentially more work than a port. Valve seats are notoriously bad for these and it’s missing so we will see. I have a hellcat. Waiting for me is not an issue, I’m more about quality than speed. If you’re the go to guy waiting is to be expected. I’m in no rush I’m doing this myself just wanted to find out so when the time comes I have a guy. Thank you sir for your time, much respect! I’ll be in touch.
Hey Eric, Tim here, what a KILLER set of BBC heads from AFR.....great #'s, and i'm with u on the exhaust backin up a bit......i'd give it a whirl as is, ur spring choice is 100% on the money!!!....REDUCE valvetrain weight, WHENEVER you can!!!!........one last thing, un-related, when ya can, give us a Bishop swim update......i've followed so long i feel i know all about it now....haha.......or make a sep vid......just curious......GREAT set of heads, and losing a point in squeeze, but gaining over 40 cfm, the cfm will win!!!....PEACE to you my brother!!
