I agree with everything you said, Jake. I upgraded to the A2S and really like it a lot. The only thing is why include 2 additional sensors upfront, and instead not put them on the sides. I upgraded from the MA2 because I'll not go for the Mavic 3, but wait for its enhancements, like Platinum or 3Pro equivalents, and also for Apple to introduce their M2 chip for faster video editing. In the meantime, the Air 2S will do plenty. Because the A2S uses the same batteries as the MA2, I made 30% savings by not having to buy its combo version. Thanks for sharing great content. Greetings from Montreal, Canada.
Hello from Phoenix Arizona. I know your comment was a year ago and I was curious if you ever got the Apple M2 processing chip? I bought a new MacBook Pro with an M1 chip and it’s a beast. It’s amazing. So if you have something prior to the M1 like an I seven you’re gonna be absolutely amaze. I’m sure by now you’ve already got an M2 anyway best of luck hope you like your new computer.
I'll never get tired watching your aerial footages from up there in Alaska! In relation to this, I'd say the shots are better on the a2s than on the air2!
I "upgraded" ... I've been using the Air 2 and Air 2S. Regarding the Air 2S, you can't shut off the downward sensors to land in hand, and I don't want to put tape over the sensors. Switching to sport mode doesn't fix the problem. Now we have to mess with focus on the Air 2S, or hope for the best. The focus should be fixed like Air 2, and most other drones. Air 2S is much noisier than Air 2--loud even at 1000 feet, very noticeable when the brakes are applied, during a climb, etc.. Everyone knows there's a drone in the air but that wasn't the case with Air 2. The Air 2 is cheaper and flies longer. So it's not as simple as many of these videos suggest, but the video quality is why I upgraded and it is noticeably better in some situations.
@@JakeSloan I do love the video quality of the Air 2S, when the focus isn't screwed up, but the day to day usage of the drones is also important and most of these reviews just talk specs. If you're going out to shoot from a boat then watch out!!! Take your Air 2 to be sure you can land in your hand.
Many are looking forward to this comparison as both drones are impressively great to begin with! I'm also tight on money as of now, and my budget's only good for an Air 2. But even though I'm tempted AF to get the Air2 now, I decided to wait and save a bit more to get the Air2S. Hopefully by the end of the month I'll have enough budget to get the Air 2S!
Was just flying my Mini 2 up at HP yesterday. Hard to get a bad shot there but yours are still so much better. Finding good definition can be the hardest part sometimes. That and getting good gps lock 😂. I told myself I’m not going to upgrade until I master the mini 2 and earn the upgrade to 2S or even “pro3”. I have to say the capability of the mini 2 continues to impress me. I’m learning a ton from your channel and appreciate your content!
I just noticed now that my Air2 has slightly warmer color tone when compared to the Air 2S. It's really tempting to upgrade when you see the image quality the bigger sensor of the Air 2s is bringing to the table
As far as the smart controller goes for the DJI mavic Air 2 s with 3.0 ocusync will that same controller work with the mavic Air 2 which has 2.0 ocusync?
Awesome review, so nice to hear clear voice and audio, in such beautiful background! :) Amazing footage! Pro Review! P.S. Looking for upgrade from Air to Air 2 or Air 2S. That cannot decide yet, while on bugget. :)
@Jake,Think the upgrade from the mini 2 is going to be the Air 2S. But should you splurge on the smart controller or stick with the one that comes in the fly more combo? But the announced prices on the Mavic Air 3 for the 2 it has are going to be insanely priced. So the Air 2S is the better option for now.
Already own an air2 but haven't decided to pull the trigger yet. This was a helpful review on the Air2s. Thank you for sharing. Best regards from the Philippines. Liked and subbed!!!

Hopefully next year I intend to 'escape' for an extended time (several weeks maybe) outback Australia travelling, where my Air 2 will be great for not only photography, travel logs etcs, but also for checking out the lie of the track (and land) ahead. @@JakeSloan Yep I knew that but I wonder if it actually provides "true" upward obstacle detection..e.g., would it protect from hitting an object like a bridge/ceiling (flat surface) that was directly above it or are the sensors angled too far forward to give you effective upward OA protection. People seem to assume that it does provide effective upward OA protection...and it maybe it does I'm just not sure given the angle of those upward sensors.
Hi Jake. I loved the video! I’m planning on purchasing the Air 2S. I heard that you are from Alaska. I’m actually planning a trip to Alaska and I was wondering what the best things to do are in the summer (asking a local). Thanks. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Well depends on where you are going lol Alaska is HUGE, definitely try and get a trip to a glacier somewhere but be careful about flying a drone many glaciers are in National Parks and those are no fly zones. if you are coming to the Anchorage area then try and go to independence mine and do a little hiking around, very cool place! I hope you have a great trip!
Can't go wrong with either one. Living in Alaska should allow you to get some really good non snow shots with lots of color. I will soon have both of these so I guess I will find out what is what. I can say the Evo 2 Pro blows the Air 2 out of the water by miles in video and photos but that isn't really a fair comparison like these two are.
Just got the Air 2 with Smart controller and Fly More bundle for $1399 - Definitely like the idea of the 1" sensor and the other image enhancing stuff...but, budget wins the day on this one for me

I can drive an hour and a half north of my house though right up the I 17 and have snow and trees and scenery like that. although I must say I don’t do it much anymore. Anyway just wanted to say hello and thank you for the beautiful videography. I have a Mavic pro and I’ve never been happy with it. My first drone was a phantom three pro and I loved it. The reason I’ve been not been happy with the Mavic pro is Really boils down to I don’t like using a cell phone as a video screen is just too small for me. The other thing is living in Phoenix it’s very bright here and even if I hook an iPad up which I’ve done using a mavic mount it’s just not bright enough when I’m out in the bright sun. So I think I’m gonna get a triple tech eight pro. OK thanks best Of luck

My Mini 2 is just as impressive as my A2, and my A2s. The three of them deserves the Medal of Honor for their competition in long range flights, and return with power to spare.Four miles round trip, that’s good enough. When I grow up I will try a six mile round trip, my Mini 2, and my Mini SE is the only ones that can RTH while videoing 360 from the aircraft. Beautiful videos straight outa the box,raw without color gradeing.K⚓️
Now...at 0:32 you can CLEARLY see that the one on the left has way better video quality. That would be the Air 2 according to you. But...how do we know that that's the drone in reality ?
No the one on the left is over sharpened which if you like that then the Air 2 is probably a great drone for you, as far as "according to me" trust me or don't. Thats up to you. I spend a lot of time and work making these videos to hopefully help you decide which drone would be the best one for you. Cheers
great video . just curious can you blow up imaging on drone footage. and if you can whats the biggest size and will each drone do roughly the same as the 2s is is bigger sensor. thx again and keep up the great work!!!!!
My 3 guesses 1. Warrantee reason to save money 2. The camera gimbal is different just a guess Or 3. The heavier weight means more current is required from the battery and cold batteries aren’t able to output as much power. (Like on electric cars for example) so maybe a safety thing
Your vids are awesome. I have AIR 2, the only kind of quality footage i suceed to make is the same as your shot with the car at 2.47. My vids are grainy with jerky effect... really hard without knowledge to create great vids
Just found you on Ken Heron's channel and subscribed 👍 Question though, I've always wondered why the zoom function will let youbgo to 4x with 1080p and only 2x with 4k. Wouldn't the higher resolution allow for more zoom? That seems backwards in my mind.
since the sensor is a 5.4k sensor the way it "zooms in" is by cropping in and only using part of the sensor. so you can crop in a LOT if you only need 1080p resolution where 4k you can only crop in a little bit to still have real 4k if that makes sense
Hello. I look at again that video 🤩. Now the Mavic pro 3 is out and expensive, do you recommend clearly to upgrade from the Air2 to the air2s? I could be probably my case. Or do you prefer to wait for the Air3? 😀😀. Thanks for your advise cause I do wish a bigger sensor and 10 bits on the air2s. Still my air2 is great but why not better? Thanks 🙏🏼🤩🤩☀️
The air 2, and the Air2S , I consider the most two top of the line drones out there, both is dependable, they do their job. Videos and photography is Super impressive. They reminds me of two elite soldiers that is sent on a mission and return victorious. They appear to compete against each other in their performances. The only thing is that they don’t have the capability to Video 360 degrees in RTH…K⚓️

Beautiful videos straight outa the box,raw without color gradeing.K⚓️
nice!
Not sure but I would say the air2s could be printed at very large sizes like 48” or more easily
@@JakeSloan ok thx a bunch
Nice video..informative, concise! Thank you
Thanks!
Thanks a lot for the video.
You’re welcome!
Hatchers Pass 😍 I can't wait to fly there
Nice
Made it up there today with my Mini 2! Just got into town yesterday.
In the beginning of the video, the images/videos from Air 2 seemed more detailed than the Air 2S. Is it just me?
Thats due to the internal sharpening in the Air 2
Nice comparison 👍
Thanks 👍
Great video. Thanks.
You’re welcome!
Why does the Air 2s have a higher minimum operating temp if the batteries are the same?
My 3 guesses
1. Warrantee reason to save money
2. The camera gimbal is different just a guess
Or
3. The heavier weight means more current is required from the battery and cold batteries aren’t able to output as much power. (Like on electric cars for example) so maybe a safety thing
Probably partly due to camera gimbal change and likely due to internal components like the IMU
Great review!
Thanks!
Your vids are awesome. I have AIR 2, the only kind of quality footage i suceed to make is the same as your shot with the car at 2.47. My vids are grainy with jerky effect... really hard without knowledge to create great vids
I am working on a course to teach that but there will likely be some videos coming on my channel as well
I’m a new drone buyer. Which drone should I buy among these two? DJI mavic Air 2 or Air 2s?
If you have the budget get the Air 2s!
Manuel
you are welcome! I still think the Air 2s is the best drone on the market for price and image quality!
Oh man... I'm fighting the desire to impulse buy
LOL
Just found you on Ken Heron's channel and subscribed 👍 Question though, I've always wondered why the zoom function will let youbgo to 4x with 1080p and only 2x with 4k. Wouldn't the higher resolution allow for more zoom? That seems backwards in my mind.
since the sensor is a 5.4k sensor the way it "zooms in" is by cropping in and only using part of the sensor. so you can crop in a LOT if you only need 1080p resolution where 4k you can only crop in a little bit to still have real 4k if that makes sense
@@JakeSloan yeah I knew there had to be an explanation behind it, thank you.
I think for most people the air 2s is the best drone for high quality image and affordable price
@@JakeSloan 🤩🤩🤩. I hope to try it soon. And one day the 3 🤩
You stated that the Air2s has 4x optical zoom. Not true. Both drones have up to 4x digital zoom, per DJI specs.
You are correct
Air2 army forever I’m still having a blast
Awesome!
weirdly, the footage from the air 2 when flying away from you the air 2 actully looked so clear compared to the air 2s
it's interesting isnt it.
My eye sight stopped at 1080P, same time as my computer.🤣
lol
I love the place why is it?
because it's cool
I want to see a comparison where they fly into each other at full speed. Winner wins
Hahahahahahaha
На air 2 качество видео показалось как-то глубже и проработана текстура нежели на air 2 s. Странно однако )
Thats due to the extra sharpening that the Air 2 has
Nice!
Thanks!
I’m to broke to upgrade to the mavic air 2S
But I still love my mavic air 2
the Air 2 is a great drone as well
Good
Thanks
The air 2, and the Air2S , I consider the most two top of the line drones out there, both is dependable, they do their job. Videos and photography is Super impressive. They reminds me of two elite soldiers that is sent on a mission and return victorious. They appear to compete against each other in their performances. The only thing is that they don’t have the capability to Video 360 degrees in RTH…K⚓️
agreed!
I don't get it, video quality so much better on air 2, why everyone saying that air2s is better, on what you guys looking at?
The general video quality, noise in the shadows and considerably better performance in lowlight
Hello sir why the air 2 is out of stock in online shop now? In philippines?
You’d have to ask DJI
@@JakeSloan Yes sir because dji mavic air 2 is face out now here in philippine online shop.. maybe you know where can i buy it😇😇
if you have an Mavic Air 2 and want an upgrade you better go direct to the Mavic 3 ! only going to the Mavic Air 2S is a waste of money....
well now that the mavic 3 is out yeah that makes sense but the air 2s still is an outstanding drone for the price
@@JakeSloan true of course ! only for the price i think it is better than the Mavic 3 ! i only tell if you already have an Air 2 there is no need to "upgrade"
I just started to lean more to the air 2 vs the air 2s because I can just save 300$ for not losing much
true
its high time the dji googles starts working with new dji drones.
that would be cool
First
Great overview as always dude! Yea I like the colors better on the S for sure. LOL if you use my affiliate links sure upgrade! LOL 😂😂😂 See you in the next one....and maybe for like 30 min tonight
smh
Damn
dang you are fast...
@@JakeSloan wow last i time I watched one of your videos you had like 20k subs
Can the air2 connect to goggles
No
Hello I subscribe to you
Thanks!
All I see is white
LOL well yeah...
