To anyone wondering, Tuba Skinny is still playing on the street and in clubs!
I’m from New Orleans and I am itching to go home and hear this great band!!!!!
Doesn't surprise me!, they are so damn good and sound just like ragtime did in the 1930s!.
Tuba Skinny Rocks Hard…🎶🍻🤘😎…Love , Love, Love Tuba Skinny…🎶💕🍻🤘😎
Love the crowd reaction to the Washboard solo
Real Music no drum machine, no auto tune, just pure talent
Somebody get Disney on the line and let them know we found the actual happiest place on earth. Nothing better than sipping a cold drink and hanging out on Royal St. listening to Tuba Skinny. This should be on everyone's bucket list.
How can they not dance?
65 years old and now i discover this ..... lovely .
78 and just hearing them online.
Damn! They are good 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Absolutely, best best Band in the world, that's also my mind. That has the same think as mr. "Junior Samples" Thanks we're at least two on the world. I hope the Tuba Skinny still long time on the world. Greetnings from Germany

Back to the roots of what early New Orleans music was! Shames some of the "so-called" top artists who sold millions of records with FAR less talent and soul!
That staff TSk. i can listen all the time...
greetings 😆😆tuba skinny &great people am I the only one smiling and happy just by listening ,thumbs up here if you do! 😅😆keep smiling with lol politely 😀😀
All these people are amazing !! i have listened to Skinny now for a week or so..wonderful to listen to and watch the people enjoy. If America had kept this type of music and put the beatles back on the boat and stamped "return" we wood not be where we are today.....
Found this band by accident surfing youtube and am so happy I did...great music, fun to watch, absolutely fabulous....
Why did only only discover this in 2020? Just want to dance.
yes is true i dont know why
New orleans is really a spice box. You've got french folks, American folks, Latinos, Asians, blacks and African natives all together when it comes to music. I love it.
The spirit of the band is alive and well. Good for people.
When I listen to Tuba Skinny, I bounce up and down!
This is both as professional, and as informal a band as I've ever seen or heard. I love the way Shaye conducts the band in an impromptu, casual, and on-the-fly way.
now thats rare to see you not commenting about your obsession of being Erika's neighbor
She has been keeping the grove with this group for what 12 years now? Thats why its so tight.
@@ignkyoutou4955 Well, Erika's not there. I'd still like to help her beat that drum she's always sitting on.
SHAYE ROCKS......FULL BAND LEADER AND WELL DONE......CRISP ALL AMERICAN MUSIC...PATROTLITSSSCCCC!!! BLESSINGS TO AMERICA.
Couldn't agree more with you
Thanks !!!
All working hard to make the great music. Long live American culture.
Ewan's sax kills it, Jons clarinet is spot on... heck the whole group is firing on all cylinders on this cut!!!
Dixieland.
Erika lights up my day with that smile.

Keeping the real jazz of Nawlins alive , you can never get enough of them
The young lady on the coronet is awesome. Well done to the whole group.
Who do you think she is? She oughta be
@@trextrextrex shaye cohn is a 3rd generation jazz musician and it's a cornet
Found this band a few days ago and I'm hooked.
I happened to discover this as I was on the internet scanning for jazz. I never knew such a fantastic band Tuba Skinny existed. I am glad they play New Orleans jazz with spirit. Shaye Cohn is a remarkable woman.
A
Same. But 2 years late.
Me too, would love to see them live!
Me too, I am from mainland China!
This is a real girl, Erica is fantastic... let her alone, she doesn't need to be famous, Guys like me love her the way she is! I found her on you tube, and cannot stop watching her.
Ah the real sound of Dixieland played by some of the most amazing performers and all for the love of the music....all in the name of Jazz. Americas invention that changed the world. From Jazz we moved on to Blues and Soul and R and B, and Funk, and soon and on to Fusion Jazz and the other facet became Rock and Roll. In this political nightmare of the 45th it lifts my soul to see these stellar, young musicians playing for the love of the music. No cover charge, no 2 drink minimum. Just the music, the love of the genre. Love the City love the music. Love the smells of wonderful food that float through the streets. I should have moved there when I had the chance. Regrets I've had a few. I could, and have spent large swaths of time listening to Dixieland without missing the radio one little bit. Do you ever get the feeling you were born in the wrong era....no just me....oh dear. Loving Erica and Shay
Best thing that americans made to humans around the world was creating Jazz.
I’m so in awe of the band leader.
I played New Orleans jazz Jersey shore in the 70's as a kid, moved to Hawaii and if anyone from Hawaii sees this and wants to put something together post me. Hawaii needs a sound like this! It would be a hit!
Tuba Skinny keep bringing us this great music!
You guys are the best your leader so beautiful Just love her
That little woman playing the coronet is FINE. Also has amazing talent. I could listen to her play all day.
Je ne m'en lasse pas de cette musique qui vous prend aux tripes et vous oblige à suivre la cadense! Ces virtuoses de la rue jouent avec passion et nous enchantent. Bravo et merci!
Love this band - their music is so uplifting. And Erika has the most amazing voice. 👏
I love Tuba Skinny , especially this rendition of 'give me some' . Jazz at its best .
Erika Lewis's singing is uncanny. She sounds like something straight off a scratchy record from the 1920s.
Yeah she does!

That's the way it should be. Natural, original, without cosmetics, flickering effects or hundreds of amplifiers. Simply beautiful talent !!
The singer lays it down honest and unadorned, thick with authenticity, like she fell out of bed singing to her stingy lover! You go girl.
They're the bee's knees! Fabulous!
Every time I listen to tuba Skinny, I feel I’m being taken to a special place, somewhere I don’t get taken very often. We should cherish these guys.
It's like fairytale. The guys are awesome!
I agree. Just love listening to them!
Cherish and buy their CDs.
The more I hear this band, the more I enjoy it. As a cornet player, I listen closely to Shaye Cohn, and I'm never disappointed. Such a mature style for a young person! A real team player, and an able musical director.
It is great to see so many have stopped to enjoy this fantastic music by the remarkable Tuba Skinny. I am a Japanese Canadian born in Vancouver. I grew up in Jazz music since age 13 and appreciated the history of Jazz as it was originated by the black musicians in the deep South at the end of the 1800s. Watching this video I am a little surprised not to see any African-Americans as New Orleans is the backbone of Jazz.
That lassies voice totally does it for me. WOW.
True American "up from the dirt" original music & vocal. Erika sings it perfectly.
These musicians deserve a nomination for making people happy👏
Greetings from Toronto🇨🇦
Hello from Vancouver Island.🥳
And G'Day to TS from Australia
and from the UK, too. They've certainly made my evening! Very glad to have found them, however long it's taken me!
Love that girl's voice.She is golden .
Makes me wanna cry......love u guys
Shaye is a force of nature, as a player and as a conductor.

@bacpac bacpac Shaye is the one with the blue hat playing the cornet.

They got the air sparkling with their musical electricity. They got the music, the rhythm, the song and the dance. They make the place happy.
Pure joy!
I have been stalking this group via you tube for the last three years because I absolutely love their music.
refreshing and vibrant.
Not just their great sound but the coolest looking band around!
The girl on the cornet PROPER Rocks! They all do.....Love this band, they`re all GREAT.
Girl on the cornet is the leader of the band and plays 5 different instruments..well known in New Orleans jazz scene
D
They make it look so easy.
This music makes me Happy!!!
Just absoluetely jazz!
I just think that the Saxophone player is not only cute, but plays so extremely well. I love listening to him.
Miss Erica Lewis ! You are full of feelings in your singing ! Tough backwoods manner and I love 💘 it !😂❤❤
If Tuba Skinny were in every city playing on the street I bet there would be fewer wars. This band gives me hope for this generation. Old jazz guys can die in peace...carry on! :)
Real jazz, congratulations!!!!
Pretty Shaye's got everybody tapping and keeping count with their feet and Erika's singing is beautiful and got everybody excited
The ghosts of all the great New Orleans musicians must smile when they hear the sounds of Tuba Skinny comin' down the street.
Rudy Evans Beautiful. I knew tHat musica since I WAS A LITTLE GIRL IN CUBA. My mom listened to...FL
@Rudy Brooks and your point is? So Louis Armstrong would just curse, turn his back and walk away? The man I admire would be right there offering enthusiasm and respect for their efforts.
@Rudy Brooks whoaa. I will hereby state I am not channelling the ghosts of the New Orlean greats or Mr A. so I cannot categorically state that any of them are actually smiling at the music of Tuba Skinny. I can only speculate. But then again, neither can you.. Had I said this group is the best group of musicians in New Orleans yesterday, today or tomorrow you certainly could question where I have all my oars in the water. But instead of offering up the vision of holding Mr. Armstrong's drawers I would invite you to share the names of groups from New Orleans performing today that you really like as well as from earlier days. Trombone Shorty being an excellent example of today. Sort of like if you liked Elvis, check out Big Mama Thornton. Appreciate your comments.
@@rudyevans6479I've tried a few other N'awlins jazz bands. I keep coming back to Tuba Skinny. Sent 'em a tip on Venmo.
Outstanding
There isn't a happier washboard player ever! Love how Robin gets into the music and he is dancing on his toes before his solo!
i like you guys because they are real musicians, they are cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, horses, sheep, and happy cows make a commotion at dawn in a day, i love you here in BRAZIL!
The best I have heard in the last 15 years.
I grew up in Germany listening to Chris Barber, swedish Papas Bues & all the Skiffle Groups
with L. Donegan etc. but this is a gift from heaven.
I have been three times to Mardi Gras in the 90ties and loved the
Court of two Sisters for their bands and music
Just bought a doz of CD's from their Distributor.
Love to hear from you during the next decade .
Congratulation
Papa bue was DANISH..........🙄
Guten Abend, Heinz. That's the first jazz I heard end 1945 in Austria. Twiddling the shortwave knob - my future brother-in law connected our steam radio back up - I came upon an US Armed Forces radio station, located somewhere in Algiers, North Africa. They played Jazz for one hour 6 nights a week at 7pm. In those years only African Americans - they weren't called that at the time - played New Orleans style.
Shaye and Erika two beautiful women with great cornet sound and beautiful voice with a totally great band great combination
Love those wash board solos! Amazing sound y’all from Ontario Canada
Shaye and the group have no blood in their veins, only PURE MUSIC.
Mixed emotions: here i sit listening to "happy music" with tears on my cheek. It brings back memories of my youth when I fell in love with New Orleans jazz. I almost forgot. . And the vocal could not be more right. Perfect
I love this group.
This music belongs to the people and not some corporation or marketing team.
Well spoken Sir!
It does
Thank our lucky star's on that ! Only my second time finding this great band and preservation of this style of music . July , 12 th , 2019 Keep On Keepin On.
We actually never ever thought about that. Take another hit awesome magic smoke wagon peace you got to give me some
Bullshit - it belongs to the musicians who bring it to life. The "people", whoever the fuck they are can fuck off.
I just got a week's worth of work done while listening to this tune! Thanks, Tuba Skinny!
Just love hearing this group real soul to play along too thank you 😊
I noticed one thing about the band leader "the lovely Ms. Shay Cohn." She uses the different varieties of trumpet and horn mutes extensively to slightly alter the blare of the trumpet. But she doesn't have a grasp of how and why they were used in this kind of jazz music.
If you look at old movie footage of these kinds of bands when this music was at its peak, the jazz trumpeters used the mutes extensively for manipulating the sound. They knew how to use the mutes and toilet/sink plunger heads as a method of creating "WOW" on their horns. They did it by moving the muter in and out over the trumpet bell. Yes, I know... she's playing a cornet. But that is a member of the trumpet family. The cornet is stubbier and taller than a trumpet, but they are nearly identical. The Cornet has a warmer and less shrill sound and is more mellow than a trumpet. I know... I was a trumpet player.
If she could master the "Wow Method" with the mutes and plunger heads then this music would be spot on.
Some trumpet players of the roaring twenties where this music originated, knew how to use and manipulate their horn sound with the mute so well, that it almost sounded like vocalizing or singing. Ms. Shaye Cohn does not do that at all. Her trumpet playing is amazing and is fantastic. That tiny little element of the mute wow would add a whole other dimension and would bring their performances to spot-on with the old musicians that wrote and created this style of music.
In this synth-crazy pop world, it is SO refreshing to hear a band like this. I'm hooked on Tuba Skinny!
this band is absolutely stunning anyone an update???? the girl playing the trumpet i think she is the head lady It would be great if the laid back guy in the light grey trousers was her hubby and the cracking washboard player was having a fling with the drummer lady, he and her look total characters wow what an amazing band
I can't stop watching all their clips over and over!
HOW HOW HOW could anyone not love this?
This band is priceless! So much talent and character! Love them! Look at the smiles on everyone’s face.
This is so life affirming! Bravo…Tuba Skinny!!! This is giving me life! Thank you Tuba Skinny! Shesh! And thank you to the person that posted this and having enough consciousness and consideration for adding their Venmo.
They all are great - and the vocals are a perfect match to the era!
Merci Tuba Skinney, Merci!
That was a lot! Washboard Man is the icing on the cake!
Great dixieland music never fails to put a smile on my face. Thanks for this great video.
I prefer to call it New Orleans music...as played long ago by Armstrong and his crew.
They’re all so effortlessly fantastic!
I would love to be young again, when I see this young talents. Just fantastic music

I remember finding you when I was in new Orleans royal street if I were you where, I bought like five or six bottles of red wine. And dancing was there all day or until the wine ran out. Still my favorite. Love you guys and your are awesome.
