To anyone wondering, Tuba Skinny is still playing on the street and in clubs!
The dude on wash board is priceless!
I just smoked a fat one and watched it again. Ol boy on the w.b was killin it . Felt like I owed them 💰.for watchin .
Mhm
If you'll notice, the washboard player always gets the biggest response to solos. Always. He puts his heart into it.
You win
Super
Somebody get Disney on the line and let them know we found the actual happiest place on earth. Nothing better than sipping a cold drink and hanging out on Royal St. listening to Tuba Skinny. This should be on everyone's bucket list.
This is both as professional, and as informal a band as I've ever seen or heard. I love the way Shaye conducts the band in an impromptu, casual, and on-the-fly way.
now thats rare to see you not commenting about your obsession of being Erika's neighbor
She has been keeping the grove with this group for what 12 years now? Thats why its so tight.
@@ignkyoutou4955 Well, Erika's not there. I'd still like to help her beat that drum she's always sitting on.
SHAYE ROCKS......FULL BAND LEADER AND WELL DONE......CRISP ALL AMERICAN MUSIC...PATROTLITSSSCCCC!!! BLESSINGS TO AMERICA.
Couldn't agree more with you
Thanks !!!
Love the crowd reaction to the Washboard solo
Real Music no drum machine, no auto tune, just pure talent
Absolutely, best best Band in the world, that's also my mind. That has the same think as mr. "Junior Samples" Thanks we're at least two on the world. I hope the Tuba Skinny still long time on the world. Greetnings from Germany
Erika lights up my day with that smile.

Back to the roots of what early New Orleans music was! Shames some of the "so-called" top artists who sold millions of records with FAR less talent and soul!
The young lady on the coronet is awesome. Well done to the whole group.
Who do you think she is? She oughta be
@@trextrextrex shaye cohn is a 3rd generation jazz musician and it's a cornet
Found this band a few days ago and I'm hooked.
I happened to discover this as I was on the internet scanning for jazz. I never knew such a fantastic band Tuba Skinny existed. I am glad they play New Orleans jazz with spirit. Shaye Cohn is a remarkable woman.
A
Same. But 2 years late.
Me too, would love to see them live!
Me too, I am from mainland China!
Why did only only discover this in 2020? Just want to dance.
yes is true i dont know why
Every time I listen to tuba Skinny, I feel I’m being taken to a special place, somewhere I don’t get taken very often. We should cherish these guys.
It's like fairytale. The guys are awesome!
I agree. Just love listening to them!
Cherish and buy their CDs.
Ewan's sax kills it, Jons clarinet is spot on... heck the whole group is firing on all cylinders on this cut!!!
Dixieland.
The girl on the cornet PROPER Rocks! They all do.....Love this band, they`re all GREAT.
Girl on the cornet is the leader of the band and plays 5 different instruments..well known in New Orleans jazz scene

Greetings from Toronto🇨🇦
Hello from Vancouver Island.🥳
And G'Day to TS from Australia
and from the UK, too. They've certainly made my evening! Very glad to have found them, however long it's taken me!
If Tuba Skinny were in every city playing on the street I bet there would be fewer wars. This band gives me hope for this generation. Old jazz guys can die in peace...carry on! :)
I love Tuba Skinny , especially this rendition of 'give me some' . Jazz at its best .
The ghosts of all the great New Orleans musicians must smile when they hear the sounds of Tuba Skinny comin' down the street.
Rudy Evans Beautiful. I knew tHat musica since I WAS A LITTLE GIRL IN CUBA. My mom listened to...FL
@Rudy Brooks and your point is? So Louis Armstrong would just curse, turn his back and walk away? The man I admire would be right there offering enthusiasm and respect for their efforts.
@Rudy Brooks whoaa. I will hereby state I am not channelling the ghosts of the New Orlean greats or Mr A. so I cannot categorically state that any of them are actually smiling at the music of Tuba Skinny. I can only speculate. But then again, neither can you.. Had I said this group is the best group of musicians in New Orleans yesterday, today or tomorrow you certainly could question where I have all my oars in the water. But instead of offering up the vision of holding Mr. Armstrong's drawers I would invite you to share the names of groups from New Orleans performing today that you really like as well as from earlier days. Trombone Shorty being an excellent example of today. Sort of like if you liked Elvis, check out Big Mama Thornton. Appreciate your comments.
Shaye is a force of nature, as a player and as a conductor.

@bacpac bacpac Shaye is the one with the blue hat playing the cornet.
@bacpac bacpac the adorable one
Close your eyes and hear Satchmo
@@acyutanandadas1326 She IS female Armstrong...
Love those wash board solos! Amazing sound y’all from Ontario Canada
Erika Lewis's singing is uncanny. She sounds like something straight off a scratchy record from the 1920s.
Yeah she does!

@@janiceclifford4442 Mmsb...ssbn!
That's the way it should be. Natural, original, without cosmetics, flickering effects or hundreds of amplifiers. Simply beautiful talent !!
The singer lays it down honest and unadorned, thick with authenticity, like she fell out of bed singing to her stingy lover! You go girl.
They got the air sparkling with their musical electricity. They got the music, the rhythm, the song and the dance. They make the place happy.
That's the kind of audience I expect, not some tourists wandering in just to take photos then leave.
Great dixieland music never fails to put a smile on my face. Thanks for this great video.
I prefer to call it New Orleans music...as played long ago by Armstrong and his crew.
In this synth-crazy pop world, it is SO refreshing to hear a band like this. I'm hooked on Tuba Skinny!
Love that girl's voice.She is golden .
How can they not dance?
This music makes me Happy!!!
Love this band - their music is so uplifting. And Erika has the most amazing voice. 👏
OMG what a wonderful music and her voice👌
This music sounds like it come from the 1920's.
I LOVE IT
Mixed emotions: here i sit listening to "happy music" with tears on my cheek. It brings back memories of my youth when I fell in love with New Orleans jazz. I almost forgot. . And the vocal could not be more right. Perfect
Makes me wanna cry......love u guys
Everybody nailed it on this one and you can tell by the crowds reaction at 3:47! What talent!
I'm jiggin' like the man in the Beatles shirt!
I played New Orleans jazz Jersey shore in the 70's as a kid, moved to Hawaii and if anyone from Hawaii sees this and wants to put something together post me. Hawaii needs a sound like this! It would be a hit!
Tuba Skinny keep bringing us this great music!
They all are great - and the vocals are a perfect match to the era!
I have been stalking this group via you tube for the last three years because I absolutely love their music.
refreshing and vibrant.
The best I have heard in the last 15 years.
I grew up in Germany listening to Chris Barber, swedish Papas Bues & all the Skiffle Groups
with L. Donegan etc. but this is a gift from heaven.
I have been three times to Mardi Gras in the 90ties and loved the
Court of two Sisters for their bands and music
Just bought a doz of CD's from their Distributor.
Love to hear from you during the next decade .
Congratulation
Papa bue was DANISH..........🙄
Guten Abend, Heinz. That's the first jazz I heard end 1945 in Austria. Twiddling the shortwave knob - my future brother-in law connected our steam radio back up - I came upon an US Armed Forces radio station, located somewhere in Algiers, North Africa. They played Jazz for one hour 6 nights a week at 7pm. In those years only African Americans - they weren't called that at the time - played New Orleans style.
This music belongs to the people and not some corporation or marketing team.
Well spoken Sir!
It does
Thank our lucky star's on that ! Only my second time finding this great band and preservation of this style of music . July , 12 th , 2019 Keep On Keepin On.
We actually never ever thought about that. Take another hit awesome magic smoke wagon peace you got to give me some
Bullshit - it belongs to the musicians who bring it to life. The "people", whoever the fuck they are can fuck off.
Love the casual way Shaye leads this wonderful band. Great job girls and boys!
I've listened 7 times and can't get enough!
I love it, I am trying to find every video on RUclips by them, they are all heartwarming, inspiring and joyful.
Those six measure breaks at that tempo with that floating clarinet chair and Horn lineup Kills
I have to go and hear this people performing live. They are beyond extraordinary. All first rate musicians. Shaye is magical!
This band is priceless! So much talent and character! Love them! Look at the smiles on everyone’s face.
Great! And this blues brother with the Beatles t-shirt behind them so funny and happy
They’ve are all jazz professionals!
O Erica your vocals amazing !
Absolutely, positively, without a doubt, the best traditional jazz band in the world today. And absolutely, positively, without a doubt, the best Tuba Skinny video on RUclips. Not just my opinion. Just look at the view count.
+Junior Samples Thanks for your nice comment.
.
I am enjoying this as much as those ppl on the street. Thxs for sharing.
+Junior Samples I will say "Just A Closer Walk" is still my fav, but this is a close second. Tuba Skinny is the best Dixie Land band EVAH!
"Closer Walk" is one of my favorite trad jazz tunes and also one of my favorite Southern Gospel quartet tunes. I first heard it as a child done by many different Southern Gospel quartets, such as The Statesmen and The Florida Boys. I once asked a black jazz band in on a club in New Orleans to play it and they were reluctant because they only played it a funerals. A ten dollar bill in the tip jar changed their minds.
As much as I like Tuba Skinny I do not particularly like their version of it. Erika just doesn't quite get the feel of it to my ears.
realize that this is our future. thank you
I can't stop watching all their clips over and over!
well that's it I'm gonna be watching this all day.
Just love hearing this group real soul to play along too thank you 😊
Anyone notice that the clarinet player usually plays the sax and the sax player most often is seen playing the clarinet. These two are amazing!
And the singer plays trompet
This was my first time hearing and watching this toe-tappin,foot-stompin group. Fantastic!
Bet it’s not your last! 😁
Absolutely wonderful magnificent real talent, exquisite musicians, they blend so well and Erica Lewis is the icing on the cake, raw mean and moody" absolutely wonderful"
Pure raw energy...The swaying, smiling crowd makes this performance even more fun-filled.
The more I hear this band, the more I enjoy it. As a cornet player, I listen closely to Shaye Cohn, and I'm never disappointed. Such a mature style for a young person! A real team player, and an able musical director.
Love the energy the music generates with the bystanders
Yeah, a bunch of stiffs. Everyone should be doing Balboa.
Merci Tuba Skinney, Merci!
That was a lot! Washboard Man is the icing on the cake!
funny how you can plod along through life and then out pops something that leaves you thinking: "how the hell did that pass me by till now!"
I think I just found a new favourite band- need to do a lot more listening to what they've got!
Pretty Shaye's got everybody tapping and keeping count with their feet and Erika's singing is beautiful and got everybody excited
Shaye , such a star . All the band are brilliant . But she holds it all together .
New orleans is really a spice box. You've got french folks, American folks, Latinos, Asians, blacks and African natives all together when it comes to music. I love it.
There isn't a happier washboard player ever! Love how Robin gets into the music and he is dancing on his toes before his solo!
If I were walking through NO and heard this band I would have thought I'd died and gone to heaven.
love her voice sound so authentic like back in those days
These guys are true Scarecrows. . . . Outstanding in their field!!!!
BEST VINTAGE VOCAL EVER!!
In a packed field, one of the best TS performances of all time. Odious to pick out one artist, but Shaye is an astonishingly good cornet player, good enough to rank with the very very best.
... and it is her fourth instrument ... I think. Piano. Violin. Accordion. Then coronet.
The positivity and beauty of this literally got me all choked up.
What an amazing moment!
That little woman playing the coronet is FINE. Also has amazing talent. I could listen to her play all day.
Wow! Real music! There is nothing better. Absolutely the best ever.I have never felt more alive than when listening to Tuba Skinny's lively, living sounds.
Loved that break on the Washboard ! 😀😀😀😀😀😂
It is great to see so many have stopped to enjoy this fantastic music by the remarkable Tuba Skinny. I am a Japanese Canadian born in Vancouver. I grew up in Jazz music since age 13 and appreciated the history of Jazz as it was originated by the black musicians in the deep South at the end of the 1800s. Watching this video I am a little surprised not to see any African-Americans as New Orleans is the backbone of Jazz.
This is a real girl, Erica is fantastic... let her alone, she doesn't need to be famous, Guys like me love her the way she is! I found her on you tube, and cannot stop watching her.
Such a talented and diverse bunch. Ya gotta love um ! New Orleans should pay them.
Fantastic how this band can bring its ENERGY into the crowd.
Look at the man with the BEATLES - shirt and you know what I mean.
Chapeau - Tuba Skinny!
Love you're band! On my saddest days your music brings a smile to my face you will see tears also but of joy! Love her voice. You lady's n gents are awesome! Wish you could be in Cincy some day! Thank you.
Not just their great sound but the coolest looking band around!
I just think that the Saxophone player is not only cute, but plays so extremely well. I love listening to him.
She’s been singing for 4 already come on guysss
They’re all so effortlessly fantastic!
Fantastic, love to see 'em in the UK
these guys are amazing and holy cow the chick singing is awesome -
Shaye is just amazing. Brava!
When I get depressed this music helps bring me out of it!!! THANK YOU ALL so much! Every single one of you are so very talented!!!!
I live for the washboard solos!
Just ....wow! WOW!!!! Erika has a voice..... just reaches, without a mike.....
This is the music of a time when the world was struggling! And look how it stuck it’s finger to that struggle. Fucking fantastic!
Shaye and Erika two beautiful women with great cornet sound and beautiful voice with a totally great band great combination
Thanks gals and guys you are great, wish we were there 🤗☺️
Such a great song! Can't stop listening, and now I want to visit New Orleans as well.
