I start my day, every day, with a dose of Tuba Skinny. It makes me happy. I am so very glad I discovered this fabulous band of over the top musicians. I have been telling friends around the country ,and in England, and in Amsterdam about them.

I LOVE YOUR PASSION. That drive that makes you play in the street, with a simple box to invite contributions (therefore not having any idea or care about revenue). I appreciate and enjoy your deep power to ENTERTAIN. I salute your camaraderie, that has kept you together for these years.

What a treat and privilege to have such a amazing street band in your country. In Johannesburg South Africa, we had a few in the 1960's, but all disappeared. Love your style, repertoire and dress code. Perfectly matched. Would love to hear you first hand. Thumbs up!!

Tuba Skinny does relatively obscure early jazz, much 1920s, much New
Orleans.....and they do it VERY well....I mean, they really transport
you to the 1920s
There was a ton of sheet music written, and scads of "by ear" jazz played. It wasn't obscure then! It's perceived as obscure now because we only hear about a couple of dozen tunes now, played as background, movies, etc...in 50 yrs there'll be obscure "rap."
Jazz will live on probably forever, but rap "crap" will be forgotten in less than fifty years. No one will pine for it, or happily remark on some lost soul attempting to spark an interest in it! Jazz has talent running so deep as to challenge the chasms of the oceans, while rap is nothing more than a dank, stinky pond soon to dry up to nothing.
Nothing obscure here. It's "natural" music. People nowadays are used to "muzak" produced by electronics, or music sounding like construction machines. If you eat caviar or goose liver patê for the first time, you will find it somewhat strange, too.

The qaulity of the musicians here is astonishing. And the music deserves it.

This music, along with Bib Band and Western Swing, is what I listened to half the night on the radio more than 70 years ago. I wanted to move to New Orleans and play it night and day. I didn't get to do that.
It truly baffles me how so many people can walk past this performing group of exceptional musicians without so much as a curious glance.
They might feel obliged to tip if they tarry.
I've heard many Dixieland bands , some famous, that don't come close to this!!!!! the gal on trumpet can do no wrong and the gal that sings and drums really knows her stuff!!! 5* from Maine!!!

Do you know how much time and dedication it takes to be able to play one of those brass and wind instruments like they do?
Robin is a fine percussionist, if you watch enough of the videos showing him playing drums. No doubt, but it took a lot of time and effort to get as good as he is.

Do you know how much time it takes to play the clarinet like this? Just for an example. I didn´t say that he was a bad musician, it only bugs me when the attention is focussed on the washboard guy.

I gotta say (I'm a fan BTW) this track from 8 years ago sounds so much fresher, crisper, newer and more enthusiastic than the stuff they're putting out today! Look at how Shayne and Erika are dancing around in place! They're just on it!
I agree. I think the changing line up helped to keep them thinking and trying new things.
Also, a slim Erika wearing her drum and dancing adds some energy to it

Inspiring playing. One of my favourite tunes since hearing Bunk's recording. But so few bands will admit to knowing it! I suppose you need a good cornet! Tuba Skinny has that in spades. Time they got to England.

I swear that right leg of Shay's never stops with a beat, playing or not. It's like a mechanical metronome. It's amazing the right isn't twice the size of the left. Probably delivers one hell of a kick though. Great jazz guys. Love it.

I'm a middle aged English bloke who normally listens to AC/DC and Led Zeppelin but I find Tuba Skinny addictive! Are you guys planning to tour the UK? I could listen / watch you guys all day. Erika the singer is superb but you all play so well.
