Danny Berry i don't like dishonest reviewer where they often hide issue & never expose it due to the vendor sponsorship. e.g. look at jayztwocents promoted NZXT cam s/w but that dude never use it to over-clock. ok u can said he used to monitoring temperature but then y still using MSI:AB to monitor & said will conflict with other apps. that prick also said don't dl from GURU3D & should grab from MSI official website for MSI:AB. if those pro so good y can't detect 3.5 GB VRAM on GTX 970 at the 1st place & y need took so long after particular "someone" mentioned then those prick only started to fiasco thang??? yes he's good in water cooling but not great. i personally prefer barnacules is legit & upright. jayztwocents is such a douchebag & cocky guys. no offense paul h/w fans seriously PC build guide is damn stupid & useless.

Virtually all GTX 1070's with after market coolers will stay under 65C on load by setting a manual fan curve with very little impact to acrostic. "Out of the box" cooling performance should largely be ignored, yes some coolers are a little better better than others but all of them easily do the job.

  • @SpudsMcHaggis
    @SpudsMcHaggis 8 лет назад +1

Paul you also forgot one of the most important factors you need to consider, what resolution is the monitor you are using?
There is no point getting a GTX 1060 if you are playing at 4K or on the flip side, getting a GTX 1080 if you are playing at 1080p since that is a big waste of money.

I still wish they sold for the actual MSRP NVIDIA first talked about, but since they all OC within the same range just go for the less expensive options. ASUS and MSI have blower fan options for $410 right now (meh though), there's 4 at $430 (Gigabyte Zotac ASUS EVGA), of those I actually think I like the Zotac AMP best aesthetically (unless you're doing an orange build, then go Gigabyte). The ASUS Dual is nice too. The Zotac is the only one at that price with RGB LED too, if that's your thing.

Another important aspect is your monitor's refresh rate... if it's 60 Hz and your card already gives you at least that (60 fps) without toning down many settings, it's somewhat pointless to upgrade to a stronger card as you won't see it any smoother. Unless you want certain features your card doesn't have, like Freesync or even GSync despite GSync monitors cost ~$100 more for the same result...
i.e. I've got an R9 280, not exactly a powerhouse, but I don't go below 50-60 fps ever, some games reach 100, OCd somewhat. I was toying with the idea of an RX 480 or 1060, even a Fury or 1070, but have to clam myself down and realize I wouldn't gain much at all on a 60 Hz monitor. A way better upgrade for me would be a better monitor - 80-100 Hz, with Freesync. Now that would be a really noticeable upgrade. But a bit expensive at the same time. I just mean many people must be in the same shoes, having a balanced system, and a GPU upgrade may be tempting but pointless on its own, and throwing a monitor in the equation ends up being costly. At any rate, consider your monitor's refresh rate.

Why are prices in USA always 15-20% cheaper than in Europe, for the same things? And that includes cars, tehnical equipment, electronics, and basically everything else, even for food (for the same brands)?
And I'm not talking only about american brands (cause that would be understandable), but also for Asian and even European ones.
And salaries are double of those in Europe, at average, in USA.

So, I'm going to upgrade my PC during the Black Friday here in Brazil... Due to import taxes and MORE taxes, lols, the price difference between even a RX480 and a GTX1060 is huge (like, the first is around R$1500,00 and the other is R$2000,00 or sth like that!). And I AM getting a FreeSync monitor (34UM68-P) for gaming/video content... The problem is: I have to go with AMD but I just wish that by Black Friday there's an option to match the GTX1070 at least... For upgradability and scaling and all that good stuff... Hope Vega arrives soon.

Ok so heres what you should do,
explain memory frequencies with a 256bit bus vs a 384 or 512bit bus.
When you talk about pixel fillrate, texture fillrate, memory bandwidth across different architectures
THEN YOU WILL HAVE MADE A VIDEO EXPLAINING WHAT GPU A PERSON NEEDS.
I mean yea, Nvidia pays all you guys (I know you say Nvidia doesnt pay you but I also know that if CNN can be fake news then so can you), so of course choosing the most expensive brand is going to be your go-to decision for other people.
Some people choose Iphone over Android and both are Unix based operating systems that
Linus Torvalds intended to be free, yet Apple charges you extra just like Nvidia or Intel.
So basically its still up to US what gpu to choose, and for me I like 360gbps of memory bandwidth or more - if you took the time to explain to these people about GPU specs then they would know why I like more memory bandwidth as opposed to less.

You are the first ever that I came across that clearly mentions the importance of ASIC and "luck of the draw" over all the bells and whistles that are supposed to provide higher overclocks.
ASIC doesn't only account for the potential of overclocking and non-overclocked boostspeeds, but also for efficiency. Temperatures and power limit headroom are better.
THANK YOU! (for not letting people think they should have 300 power phases and 4 8-pin connectors, buy 480mm rads with pump speed and fan speed permanently stuck to 100% for better overclocks)

I built my 1st Gaming PC 2 months ago with a GTX 1060 and finished my 1080p gaming setup shortly after. And I'm already wanting to upgrade to a GTX 1070 with 1440p monitors. PC gaming is addicting.

For the time being I'm actually running a pc with sub 1080p monitors, but one is mirrored to a 1080 tv for couch gaming. For this reason and the fact that I was lucky enough to get a 1060 6G for MSRP through EVGA at launch, I'm happy to say that this card is perfect for me, even counting in the inevitable 4K monitor upgrade a year or two down the road (playing games in 1080p on a 4K monitor will be perfect and won't blur any text)

Well to the people thinking about buying MSI or Gigabyte GPUs: I sincerely hope you never have to RMA them, their customer service is slow and horrid. It takes a bloody month from start to finish.
If you care any little thing about customer service then you got 2 choices: EVGA for Nvidia and Sapphire for AMD.

Why am I watching this? I already have a G1 Gaming 1070... maybe I'll get a second one... I'll definitely need to upgrade my monitor first, 1080 60hz is a little underkill (is that a word) for 2 1070s

This is how i choose the best card for me, which ever of the two brands that fit within a Corsair AIR240. Im glad corsair took the time to think about people who use cards that are not reference size...oh wait they didnt with this case.
I can only get EVGA or Gigabyte cards but lately EVGA has started making their cards to big, so soon im going to just have to ditch this case that i love because of its huge design flaw.

I would have started this conversation with "What will the native resolution of the monitor you will be using with this graphics card be?" and "Will you be using a single monitor, or a multi-monitor setup?" Ultimately the answer to those questions will determine what level of graphics performance you will require. You don't need a GTX 1070 if your just going to game on a single 1080p monitor.

Hi Paul, Hmmmmm am just wondering these two company Amd and Nvidia gpu's I've been thinking to get Nvidia for a next year! Yes I heard the nvidia is the fastest gpu by far. But I've got the and 7970 gpu with in before I use to have geforce by nvidia but it doesn't play avi files on windows media player with windows 7. But with the new gtx 10 series dose it play avi files on windows media player ? Or is it still the same problem but with the amd gpu it will play avi and mkv and dvix files on my windows media player windows 7 64 bit cheers paul

The cost of 'mid range' graphics cards seems to have permanently gone up from £150 / $150 to £200 / $200. Is this down more to the increase in VRAM, or is it just price inflation due to production and demand?

  • @NicksDomain101
    @NicksDomain101 8 лет назад

Getting a binned card is simply dumb, you get something like 5-10 fps at best for wayy more money, and this 5-10 fps on high end gpu's is something like 144fps vs 148fps so you couldn't tell the difference anyway.

it fabolous. The CPU may be the brain of your PC, but when it comes to gaming, the
graphics card is the beating heart that pumps pixels out of your obelisk
of a tower and into your monitor. A graphics card consists of dedicated
video memory and a graphics processing unit (GPU) that handles all
sorts of calculations, like mapping textures and rendering millions of
    polygons. www.evetech.co.za/

Can I ask for your help with something? So I've never built a PC before and I'm currently planning to build a mid-range gaming PC. It's going to be a while before I can afford all the parts so I was thinking of temporarily upgrading my current computer to run games until I can afford to build my new one. I'm thinking of buying a really nice GPU now and then transferring it to my build once I'm working on that and I need to know; Do all GPU's work with all motherboards? Will I have to be sure to buy one that will work on my new motherboard? Or will I be unable to find one that will work on both?

HI Paul...good information here. I often felt it would be a good idea for someone in hardware reviews to have a basic "baseline" graphics card that does equal processing as the Intel HD graphics built into the CPU. Why? Lots of folks simply ignore the Intel HD graphics feature and buy a discrete video card and often do not gain anything, if not lowering their GPU processing that came with the CPU. So, it would be interesting for a hardware review that would show the performance of the Intel HD Graphics in comparison to some of the video cards that perform equally or less than Intel.
Why? To eliminate any confusion where to begin looking in performance levels with graphic cards and the price factor associated with them.

As for cpu's there are so many I need a cpu lodged in my head just to get the right one! I think a i5 will be more than enough, but I'm not wanting to upgrade every year so I'm thinking i7. All I will say is I like rgb lighting if it done decently!

One thing I'm likely to take away from this video is that, unlike a while back (and I'm talking several years) when you had to decide if you wanted a video card for gaming versus non-gaming apps - it sounds like that's no longer a consideration. Clearly it's been years since I worried very much about anything other than having what was essentially a competent video card - when the All-in-Wonder series bridged the gap between the two schools of use. With the raw power available in just about any video card these days, any card would be applicable for any use. Right?

Keep in mind that if you really don't like the stock backplate design, you can always look into getting a custom backplate for it from companies like V1tech. They attach magnetically so they don't compromise performance and are only like $30-40, which is reasonable for something custom made in my opinion
