Great video. What about the USB port? Can you put a Hard Disk USB Portable Drive? Will you then be able to read files and save them to the Network? How safe is it to prevent outside access? Please explain, thank you.
If the base speed you pay for is 40Mbps from your Internet service provider, then that's the Max speed you're going to get out of your router. You would need to upgrade to a higher speed plan to get faster speeds than the 40Mbps you're paying for.
If you have a separate WiFi router you need to disconnect it from your modem and plug this new one in. If your router is built into your modem as an all in one, then just plug this router into it and use the WiFi network from this new router and stop using the old one. 👍💪

Awesome review there mate! I’m planning to get this model since I’ve had many routers and all of them didn’t fulfill my signal range issue as I live in a long flat , so can I know as an estimate how far were you from the router in each scene ?

AX1800 is good, but if you have the budget the AX3000 is better. 👍💪
Cat5e cable speed limit is 200mbs?
Does the router need to always be connected to my main router or can I move it to another room?
The router should always be connected to your modem. If you want the router in another room you can run a longer Ethernet cable from your modem to the room of choice.
Waah gwaan bro, can the router work in a different room from the modem after setup?
Waa gwaan Bredda! It has to remain connected to the modem at all times. If you want it in another room you can run an Ethernet cable from the modem to that room and connect the router in that room.
Hy, i dont know anything about routers, so i just want to ask. Compared to the tp link ac1750, which one is better?
Hey there! This is a better router. 👍💪
I'm wanting to have the best chance I can at streaming PCVR to my quest 2. I have very similar download and upload speeds as you but my router is not wifi 6. You think this router or similar would help with latency ?
It could. Which router do you have now?
@@LamarMK some generic crappy router that came with my internet provider 3 years ago lol
@@LamarMK but its always been "fine" for streaming videos to the TV for chromecast and using it to play PC games and playing online on the quest natively. But it really struggles with latency and jitteryness if I try to do PCVR wirelessly
@@WhiteRaven___ Got you lol. Well ISP routers are not known to be the best things out there lol. I think this should perform better than your ISP router though. 👍💪
Thanks for the video bro
You’re welcome! Glad you appreciate it. 👍💪
I think they removed the USB from the latest hardware version. Why?
weird and noob question but does a router (third party one) in any way increase ethernet speed? thank u
In some cases it gives you better overall performance than your regular ISP router. 👍💪
is this the same as the ax 1500 ?
No, this is AX1800. 👍💪
Would you kindly tell me which SPEED TEST APP you are using at this review ? Appreciate much.
Speedtest by Ookla.
@@LamarMK THX A LOT!
@@Nice328 You’re welcome. 👍💪
Hi, i'm wondering, if you download a game such as let's say Fortnite, what is your download speed then? and when playing how much fps and ping do you get?
All that is gonna depend on your device and internet speed from your service provider. 👍💪
@@LamarMK Alright thank you
I’ve been stuck on sky q router 6mbps tops so hopefully when i get this in 2 weeks or so I can finally experience good download speed i also struggle to play game atm cause I had a Ethernet connection to a repeater gave me good 60 ping but with how close my room is to the router when I install I shouldn’t need it
How’s your guys experience with it
Hopefully, it works out for you.
Awesome Video, Thanks
You're welcome! 👍💪
Question. This tp link same with Archer AX1800 Dual band wifi 6 router price of $99?
As long as it says AX21, it should be the same thing. It might just be more expensive in your region.
If this is a Wi-Fi-6 router. Why does it only go up to 5ghz? I purchased this because people said that wifi6 is much fast than wifi5.
I’m super new to this so please excuse if that’s a really dumb question
5Ghz is only the frequency band don't get it confused with WiFi 5 and WiFi 6. 👍💪
Curious what speed test app you use/recommend?
I use the Speedtest app by Ookla. 👍
I appreciate the video you made it was really helpful. But when I finished the setup i got a message saying that I was connected to 2 routers or something and that would affect gaming and streaming what do I do?
Thanks, glad you appreciate it. If you have another router in your house go to your WiFi settings and forget that network.
What is your internet speed? Are you connecting at AX, AC or N? This way I can get a better understanding. Thanks
200/10. AC. 👍💪
So do you have to plug it into the back of ur modem or can i just put it anywhere and itll work if so idm having int downstairs instead of beside me i can take the loss of a few mb
It needs to be plugged into the modem. If you can get an Ethernet cable from your modem to wherever you want the router it will work that way as well.
@@LamarMK ok thanks thatll work
@@Colin.... Your welcome!
Informative video! ... Many thanks for helping me make a more informed decision on purchasing!
Glad you found it helpful. You’re welcome. 👍
Great video. What about the USB port? Can you put a Hard Disk USB Portable Drive? Will you then be able to read files and save them to the Network? How safe is it to prevent outside access? Please explain, thank you.
Thank you! For more information on that you can check this guide: www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2385/

Thank you 😇 👍
i got CenturyLink 40mbps, i bought this router and hooked it up and everything but still get around 40mbps. how do i get it to improve? please respond
If the base speed you pay for is 40Mbps from your Internet service provider, then that's the Max speed you're going to get out of your router. You would need to upgrade to a higher speed plan to get faster speeds than the 40Mbps you're paying for.
Hopefully this router helps, I’m on a 1gb* Wi-Fi plan and the router that I have keeps dropping when I’m playing games
Is it working great for you?
Hi does this need to be connected to a modem or is it plug and play
modem
Do I have to connect this directly to my WiFi box or can I not just set it up in my room to my PS4
If you have a separate WiFi router you need to disconnect it from your modem and plug this new one in. If your router is built into your modem as an all in one, then just plug this router into it and use the WiFi network from this new router and stop using the old one. 👍💪
@@LamarMK thanks for replying means a lot great vid btw
My room is a dead zone on the second floor of my house the WiFi is on the ground floor you think this will help ?
@@acea7004 You’re welcome, glad you appreciate the video, I’m always happy to help out. This router setup would help you out better then. ruclips.net/video/lXjRY56q4ww/видео.html 👍💪
Why are your download speed is much higher than your upload speed are you using a fiber connection?
Download speeds are normally higher than upload speeds. No.
I see. Thank you 🥰
Does it have a sim port?
No.
So what would the wifi speeds be if you have a gigabit isp package?
Up to 1.8 Gbps Speeds.

@@LamarMK cool, thanks. i got a refurb from ebay for $40. It's just funny that this video is testing a router that can handle way higher speeds than his own isp is able to. weird way to benchmark. backwards.

It doesn't have a fiber port@LamarMK
This video is 3 years old. I need to see something more current. I'm looking for something that's compatible . I'm looking for a compatible outdoor mesh with IP 67 or an access point that is weatherproof IP 67 please list all units for access points that are compatible. With the AX 3000 or any of the other high-end routers that are compatible.
They have updated routers with the same name.
Is this good enough to go through 30cm solid concrete wall to next room ?
Can I connect this to my modem wirelessly?
No, a router needs a direct connection to the modem. 👍💪
I have wifi 6 router , I don't have a phone Or computer that support wifi 6 router , can I solve this issue by using a wifi extender ??
Your devices should still work with the WiFi 6 router, most routers are backward compatible to work with older non WiFi 6 devices. 👍💪
Where do u get the other part to connect my router?
What part?
I definitely see the time and effort behind the videos. Love it! 👌👌👌
Thanks for showing your appreciation! So much time and effort goes into these videos. If only people knew, they wouldn’t dislike the videos lol. 👍💪
Why is the upload speed so less
Because that's the max speed of the plan from my internet service provider. 👍💪
I need to know these things
1. antenna power gain in dbi? i.e. 5dbi or 6dbi
2. total Sq.ft coverage i.e. 2000 or 300 sq.ft
3. What's the MU-MIMO technology used in this router? 2x2 or 4x4 or higher?
4. And lastly, the Heating issue is present like AX50 or not? Any long term review/suggestion to the prospective buyers like me?
On the bottom of the page you can find all the specifications. www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/wifi-router/archer-ax21/
In my testing, it’s cooler than the AX50. I’m using a Mesh System currently, but this is a great router that I’d recommend if you don’t wanna go with a Mesh system. 👍💪
@@LamarMK already checked that specifications page before commenting n watching videos here. Those questions ain't addressed there in specs page otherwise don't have to watch n ask those questions here.
@@sm_003 Ok, didn’t know you already read the info there. If the information you’re looking for isn’t provided on the specs page you can always Google the model router + manual and look at an online manual to find more detailed specs. If you can’t find the info you want there, then reach out to their support team. 👍💪
Awesome review there mate! I’m planning to get this model since I’ve had many routers and all of them didn’t fulfill my signal range issue as I live in a long flat , so can I know as an estimate how far were you from the router in each scene ?
Thank you! Glad you appreciate it. The furthest test outside was maybe 200-250ft from the router. 👍💪
Does this router work in hot environments such as Iraq in summer, the temperature reaches 50 degrees Celsius?
As long as you have the router in the open and not enclosed in anything or on top of any other electronics and it’s getting proper airflow it should be good. It’s almost all vents on this router to provide better cooling. 👍💪
I just put a laptop exhaust fan base on the bottom of router... So far it help improvement a bit for air flow..
Does this help lowering ping
That depends on your ISP I think.
Do you think this AX1800 router would have better range when compare w Netgear X6S AC3000 Tri-Band WiFi Router (simply because the AX1800 is WiFi 6 and the X6S AC3000 is not)? Thoughts? Thanks!
In general WiFi 6 is supposed to have better range than WiFi 5, so I assume it should have better range. 👍💪
can you use this without a modem?
No, you need a modem in order to have an internet connection.
can i use this for my mobile hotspot data to connect
Is this a wifi booster or wifi alone
Just a regular WiFi router.
@@LamarMK so you don’t have to have another modem
@@theonlyaroy Yes, you just use it with the existing modem you already have. 👍💪
@@LamarMK Unless you dont need a modem like FTTP connection in aus :)

Is it worth get AX1800 router do not have any devices that are wifi6 I have mesh w2400 router better than mesh w2400
If you’re not having issues with your Mesh system then there’s no reason to upgrade. If you get WiFi 6 devices and wanted to future proof then you could get the AX1800.

isn't ax50 for 65€ better deal?
If you can find it for that price then go with it. In the U.S it’s still more expensive than this one. 👍💪
Lamar MK -- You are a very professional video producer. Very well done. QUESTION: Overall reviews are good for the TP-Link AX21, but I read a few user reviews that complained about the AX21 getting very hot and then throttling back ... which reduces Internet speed. HAVE YOU NOTICED IF THE AX21 GETS TOO HOT?
Thank You Christina, I appreciate that. In my testing of the router, I didn’t notice any extreme heat, this new design is supposed to be an improvement to the AX50 for better airflow to operate cooler. 👍💪
