    • @christopherblair3667

      I second his statement. 2.4 GHz band of 5 GHz band are completely separate technologies. 2.4 GHz is an older standard. And the 5 gigahertz some more modern standard. If you have 2.4 and 5 gigahertz enabled the same time you're introducing unnecessary latency. A lot of people myself included like to use only one band at a time. I e 5 gigahertz for maximum speed.

    My question is: I have a TP Link Archer 5400 Triband. I bought one of these new TP link AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 Routers to use as a WIFI extender for my basement level as the TP Link Range Extenders work until the power goes off, then they need to be reset. How do I set this router up to the Archer as wireless repeater? Thank you.

    • @LamarMK
      @LamarMK  3 года назад

      I’ve never had to do that before, since I use a mesh system from TP-Link. You can try to reset the WiFi 6 router and go through the setup process again to see if there’s a repeater mode to choose during the setup process. 👍💪

    I also like this product very much. I "standardized" on TP-Link products several years ago. Netgear just seemed to lose it's edge and none of the other routers I tried were very satisfactory. Range is good and WiFi6 is speedy. My only disappointment is the USB port isn't 3.0, but I'm not sure what throughput would have been over WiFi so maybe it's no big deal. I'm adding another upstairs at the other end of my house to make a "mesh". I live in BFE and my awesome local ISP offers 11 down and 1.5 up. Too bad WiFi6 won't fix that. Skynet...I mean Starlink is ordered! Hurry up Elon!

      If the base speed you pay for is 40Mbps from your Internet service provider, then that's the Max speed you're going to get out of your router. You would need to upgrade to a higher speed plan to get faster speeds than the 40Mbps you're paying for.
