D-35's are magic and Angela certainly does this one justice! Was fortunate to find 'that special' D-35 in a local shop a couple years back & traded a Twin Reverb and another guitar for it. No regrets!!
Always look forward to tuning in To Norms Rare Guitars of the Day when Angela tuned to open tuning the 1972 Martin D-35 it sounded great the bottom end voices opened right up with the top end Love Seagull Love ya Mama
Congratulations congratulations pretty lady congratulations Angela Petrelli thanks Jen and Norman, and Joe on the phone, nice touch praise Jesus Christ grace amen 🙏 thanks BigAl California
It's not a Gibson, but I have the 123rd built '72 Yamaha FG-160. '72 First year 160's. More importantly she sounds GLORIOUS, really, really good. Never needed or had the neck reset as well....
The first time I stummed my D35 I was startled by the vibration of my cat jumping onto my couch next to me. Then I remembered Oreo passed years ago, and realized it was the guitar vibrating all the way through me, to the couch.. My fav guitar from that day on. Oreo would agree...
Besides the 3 piece back and the binding, THEE thing that makes a D35 a D35 is the 1/4" bracing as opposed to the 5/16th that the other Martin Dreads (D18, D28, HD28, etc ) have. Makes it boom, vibrate more.
The second song she played “willin” - 12:23 at first I thought it was Peter Framptons “ Baby I love your way” . Very similar songs borrowing from the Beatles “Blackbird”.
I bought a 1966 Martin D45 from Norm in 1982 . Brazilian Rosewood back and sides . I sold that guitar a few years later for $1500 And made a profit . I wonder what happened to that guitar . It needed a neck reset and I had a couple of young guys by the name of Taylor do the work . They had a little workshop under the freeway in down town San Diego
The 70s D-35s transcend Martin's more negative reputation for that decade. And that's probably because of the lighter bracing. The large rosewood plate doesn't have that much of a negative hit on its tone, and what you're left with is a nearly fifty-year-old guitar that sounds other-worldly beautiful.
Wheres the vinyl? I Listen to The Voices on Spotify. I be likes it. Went to buy the vinyl EP on the ASAP, but it's not on the site. Sold out already perhaps?
I have a Japanese Aria, which was a kind of cheap copy of the D-35 built in 1978 - best fit to my budget in those days. Unfortunately, it does not sound as good, it is not even coming close, even if it has many things in common, e.g. a solid spruce top. What do I learn? Only a Martin is a Martin.
I miss vinyl LP records just for the Album Art. #AngelaPetrilli did a Kool #BionicWoman Album Cover Gotta Cickity Click just for the #CoverArt. The only thing more valuable than #Norm's #Warehouse #GuitarSecretStash is his cell phone address book of #RockStars. #HeyJoeBonamassa #MrBonamassa2U
Expect #EricClaptons #CrossroadsFestival to have a ton of guest performances, since LA is the center of the universe for dozens of #GuitarGods #Ridiculouness There should also be a massive tribute/jam in honor of the Legendary #JeffBeck
It’s always an honor to guest host Guitar of the Day. Thank you for all the love and support NRG Family ❤
🧡💚💜❤💙💛

So beautiful. I like the martin too 😊
I was fortunate enough to see Angela at the Mint in LA and the show was wonderful, after the show she was approachable to speak to and so kind.
Totally awesome 👏
Damn nice, clean sound. Thank you :)
Very, very cool. Love it. 🎶
Beautiful, I also have a 72 D35 but I can’t make it sound as Angela does.
Great songs, guitar.... and Angela has such pretty hair.

Sublime

We have to get a Norms guitar in Canada 🇨🇦
全てが最高に美しいです。
Cool! My guitar! 👍 🎶 My first Martin, a D-35, No. 295773, bought new in '72 ... 51 years now of my mojo, repairs, tweaks ... first in, last out. 😁
Thumbs up!

yep …. Important difference. the 35 is not just a 28 with a three piece back and bound fretboard. 35’s have their own sound.
Very nice!
The second song she played “willin” - 12:23 at first I thought it was Peter Framptons “ Baby I love your way” . Very similar songs borrowing from the Beatles “Blackbird”.
Always wanted to learn the intro to Willin.

Angela rips!!! 🎸🤘
Angela! ❤
Angela, you're my favorite
I've had a D35 for about 10 years and love it but don't play it near enough.
Love me some Little feat ....
Would love to know what strings are on the guitar?
You are cool Angela 😎
Might need a Martin D-35 just for the beautiful 3-piece backs. #JohnnyCash The #ManInBlack
Reminds me of how Mark Agnesi used to do it!
It's so cool to have Princess Kate's sister on GTD.

my next guitar i get will be a martin and i will name it angala.
‘72 was a huge year for cigarette smoking singer/songwriters. ‘23 is all about AP’s vinyl artistic triumph.
