Did you know that more people die from caterpillars than sharks, lions, and bears combined every year? Coyote, Mario, Trent and Jim venture deep into the Costa Rican wilderness again to illustrate just how strong the stinging bristles from these tiny creatures can be. In this episode, Coyote debuts the brand new CATERPILLAR STING PAIN INDEX! You know what that means, Coyote Pack... This may be the first caterpillar sting, but it won't be the last 👀
Special thanks to Jim Cordoba finding this caterpillar, inspiring the caterpillar sting pain index, and sharing his knowledge about moths and caterpillars for this episode! yes hes immortal he can take any sting
YAY🎉
But is he okay though?
Think it is a bad idea to run the ad right at the start of the vid. Just saying.
"I’m not feeling anything yet…. Gnaga gagougnaarharhar a" Famous last words

9:56 why do people reference a point in the video without a timestamp, may i never understand
Last male in bloodline proceeds to encounter dangerous species of animals lol
The random words that come out of your mouth when stung by a caterpillar: "Hot Diggity dog it's caterpillar sunday!" Ummm..??????
@@AidenHaigh-nf7zi Thats like the time I saw a spider in my room and as I was squishing it I go "IS THAT HOW HOT YOU LIKE IT DROPPED"
He’s no feline sir
@@xBHxannihilated7562 ? ? ?
As soon as he said "he was the last remaining male" in his family I immediately thought maybe they were all up to similar activities lol
I would absolutely wear a shirt that says "Hot diggity dog, it's Caterpillar Sunday"
Same lmao
So glad I wasn't the only one thinking that 😂
"Time flies when you're in pain" He must be the first person to ever say that
😂😂😂
HAHSHSHSJS
i was thinking the same thing .
maybe he likes the pain 😭
Bee: *Stings Coyote*
Coyote: *laughing*
Dude's got a really high pain tolerance lol.
I would die if a bee stung me lol
Fr dude
I swear he is sadisticly enjoying it at this point, cos that is some wild reaction ! :D
bee stings...sting but they are not the worst, they are a little less burny than mud wasps.
They don't show the medic who is standing beside the well-stocked ambulance.
“I gotta go punch the dirt or something” is such a meta statement
Hullo, big lepidoptera enthusiast here. You referred to this species as simply the "silkmoth caterpillar" but there's a bunch of silkmoths. The one we farm for silk is Bombyx mori, the domesticated silkmoth, but the Lonomia electra in this video belongs to the family Saturniidae, or the "giant silkmoths" family, which includes iconic moths like the luna moth. Most Saturniid moths aren't venomous as caterpillars, such as the luna moth, cecropia moth, polyphemus moth, emperor moth, imperial moth, etc which are all completely harmless. Even the "hickory horned devil," the regal moth caterpillar which is covered in dangerous looking spines, is completely harmless. However, Saturniids in the genuses Lonomia and Automeris do tend to be venomous.
I have lepidopteraphobia
just wanted to add that in my personal experience you can develop a reaction to the secretions of silk moth caterpillars even if they aren't venomous so they should be handled in moderation. I raised calleta moths for a while and from the little orbs on the caterpillars they secrete this liquid that I assume is to deter predators. I now can’t touch the caterpillars without gloves or I get a rash :( c'est la vie I supposed but it sucks
I think I love you
Thanks for making these points. I grew up with Automeris io caterpillars around, and they smart pretty good.
Did you actually watch the video? He talks to an expert that identifies the species exactly.
Coyote Peterson never misses when it comes to the sting zone🔥
9:57 bro went crazy😂
Fr man
Bro speaks fluent chihuahua
goblin mode
Bro's immune system at this point will never let him know the meaning of feeling ill again💀
that would be amazing but sadly thats not how our bodies work :s
technically with every sting, his chances of reacting even to one he had an absolute benign "reaction" to previously could be worse if taken again, plus ontop of that being normalized to venom doesnt mean your body can grab viruses n bacteria by the collar and feed em into the biological woodchipper, they still gotta fight for our lives full force no buffs or benefits (maybe besides a better fear/stress response but thats more you conscious choice not molecular level automatic)
12/10 though i really wish it worked that way
My 8 yr old daughter has recently found your videos and absolutely loves them. She says she likes to watch it but feels bad for you because of all the stings and bites. She wanted me to write a comment asking you if you would consider getting stung by a white marked tussock moth caterpillar.
Thank you for creating awesome content for kids and adults.
Your 8 year old knows what a white mark tussock moth caterpillar is??
I wondered the same... i truly think shes/hes asking for a friend... 😮@@by.the.sea.pisces
@@by.the.sea.piscesyes she knows what most critters are down here in florida.
Finally some moth representation in the Sting Series. I love those lil guys, easily my favorite bug
Hot diggity dog its caterpillar Sunday had me dying 😂. Love your videos Coyote you always educate and entertain 🩵
Coyote when he gets shot by a bullet: mmm I don't feel anything
Legend has it that Coyote is still going like "aaaaarrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhgggg", his agony can still be heard every midnight over the Northern hemisphere.
Welcome back to the tribe, Coyote! 2:25
This man Coyote Peterson might be Colossus because he has balls of steel
Honestly Jim needs to be a constant on this show if he has time, love how passionate the dude is about bugs!
"time flies when you're in pain" said only one man ever...
Coyote: Im not feeling anything yet
The lil silkmoth fren: *wait for it~*
“It’s caterpillar Sunday.” 😂
If Coyote ever achieves Sainthood, I sure hope his day is christened Caterpillar Sunday.
Feels like electricity, from what I remember lol. It looked fuzzy so of course I gave it a good petting
We’re starting a new era and I’m here for it
“Hot diggity dog, it’s caterpillar sundae!” One of my favorites limes from you’re chanel
Hah man that LAUGH, sounded like he's getting a high from all the stings he's taken
There is a certain rush when you get stung and you can feel it moving up your arm or whatever, I get it
I'm Jewish myself, but you getting results as Ashkenazi Jewish is so hilarious to me
“Ohyayaayajajajajajajoomolaa” - coyote Peterson
“Hot diggity dog its caterpillar Sunday” I petition you post all caterpillar videos on Sunday and are required to say that right before contact. 😂
Coyote’s DNA is made of pure savagery! This guy and Mark have taken more stings from sketchy creatures on purpose than most humans entire family tree have in a lifetime!
Tbh I feel like Coyote is immune to pain by now. I'm Polish and Austrian in case anyone was curious.
I took an Ancestry DNA TEST for my birthday, I was blown away by the results. It took a month for the results but it was worth the wait and it even isolates the regions of which country your ancestors were. I would recommend it to a friend.

@@shakya8783thank you, I became a member the day Coyote got his first tattoo, during the live I got to ask him questions that I’ve had since the very beginning of the channel. I am proud to be a member and to hopefully one day meet him or to become as inspiring as he is in saving our planet
I may be mistaken, but one of the reasons that the Brazilian caterpillar is deadly is that it lives in groups, and when a person puts a hand on one, it is never just one, it is dozens of them, magnifying the amount of venom injection. They did have people dying from them, but the symptoms were so like some snakebites that physicians kept saying these people encountered a fer-de-lance or a bushmaster. But no, the people that were stung were saying there was no snake involved. The riddle was solved when one girl came in from a citrus grove and they asked if a snake had bitten her, and she said no, and said the Spanish name for the caterpillar. the night something. The light was on. Do not touch an entire pad of these caterpillars. However, you can separate out one, and that might give a much less deadly envenomation. Plus showing what these deadly critters look like so they can be avoided. Here in the US we have IO moth caterpillars and puss moth caterpillars. Both of those are good candidates for the sting insect. Also do handle the harmless but beautiful zebra longwing caterpillar and the gulf fritillary caterpillar, so that people are less frightened of them. They live here in Florida, and people are certain they are poisonous because of their black spines; they are not.
I was not expecting that💀 3:31
same 😭
This has to be the most lazy chilled caterpillar ever it does not move a single time😂
The coyote lives!
SOO GLAD TOO SEE COYOTE BACK
Next 3: Saddleback caterpillar, Buck moth caterpillar, and Io Moth caterpillar.
Next Sting: The Very Hungry Caterpillar
You're gonna be feeling that for a few months, of and on! I crushed a different type, from the south, between a tree and my stomach... felt like I got shot.
FINALLY THE MAN WEVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR
I was under a tree with a friend and a caterpillar fell from the tree onto her arm before hitting the ground. The stinging feeling was super intense and left a red welt in the exact shape of the caterpillar.
I hope you never seriously get hurt or have to use the epinephrine pen. What I hope, is that you continue informing us with your ever expanding knowledge on the animal and plant kingdom.
Am I hearing 1000s+ stungs for coyote to venture. Let's see more videos 😂
6:07 I love the Wooly bear. This old farmer I grew up with always called them woolypillers. So my kids now do too. They love finding them in the fall
Crazy I got tagged by Buck Moth caterpillar for the first time yesterday fishing the snake river didn’t know anything about them, and the next day this video pops up.
Coyote got big on us💯💯
As a man who tends to get injured a lot, I definitely believe Coyote can handle pain. Like a champ.
I Really like that we get to See Mark and coyote BOTH, they are super Knowledgeable and bring their own Flair to the videos what Makes it Really enjoyable plus its always a Bit different 👍
YESSIR. It's been 1 year since I watched Brave Wilderness and I'm so gonna make this a regular thing.
HES BACK!!! THE GREATEST TO EVER DO IT. YIPPPIEEEEEE!!!
internet says that is the most poisonous one.. so not sure where you can go from this one lol
Not only do I have to watch ads by RUclips every few minutes but I have to watch a 5k minute long ad made by coyote in the video also. Wonderful
SOOOOOO excited for your Caterpillar journey!!!!
I would love to see any caterpillar! It's amazing how many species there are! Keep making videos with Jim, he has more insects to show us.
What I hope, is that you continue informing us with your ever expanding knowledge on the animal and plant kingdom. thank you .

Coyote: hello baby
BDSM: hello hehe
One caterpillar near where I live would be great to try.
The saddleback caterpillar is said to be decently painful.
Other than that the only one that comes to mind is the puss caterpillar.
I second this. Both are found here in Florida too though I’ve only ever seen the saddleback and on only one occasion. Both pillars are said to be mad painful.
Never thought I'd see a video about a caterpillar
Coyote did so many crazy things, and he's still alive. Entertaining video as usual!
I was moving a leaf on one of my castor bean plants, got stung by a saddleback caterpillar, burned quite a bit, if I remember correctly. You could try that one.
We all gotta love Coyote
He's brave, he's funny, he's entertaining
Hi coyote love your videos keep up the good work
Nice coyote is back and doing his signature pain index
Jeez, I just realized how much dedication he puts in to not swear in all these videos.
Saddleback from the southeastern US. We have them here in Kentucky. Green with barbs on their back and a little "saddle" looking design on their back.
It’s good to see ya Coyote with another sting. 😂
so glad to see you back coyote!!!
Congratulations for doing your second caterpillar interaction! Love your videos!
Yesss coyoteee
the background music gives me john wick vibe
This brings back so much nostalgia .
Thank You Brave Wilderness!
One thing you sometimes forget to add is the 24/48 hour aftermath. Please do not forget about it
“OH YAYA YO YAYA!” 😂
We miss you man! Original brave wilderness warrior!
Glad he still posts his crazy videos 🙂👍
I just imagine the caterpillar being slightly annoyed by this giant man rubbing its back against his arm for no apparent reason.
Saddleback Caterpillar!
Last year a friend of mine was stung by an Io moth caterpillar. It latched on to her leg and she was stung multiple times. She had an allergic reaction to it and when she went to the emergency room, they had no clue that caterpillars could sting.
coyote dna test results be like 73% bug venom
I saw a bright white stinging caterpillar In my creek the other day!!! I took a wet stick and rubbed it on the caterpillar and the end of the stick turned bright white from the stinging hairs on it!!! 😱
Most just give you a rash. Pretty much like this did.
He's Back!!😃😃😃
Bro. I haven’t visited your channel in about 5 years. The nostalgia. Love it 🥲
Love the content!! Excited to see more pain scaling!

9:44 the sting
Wow. I had no idea that there were caterpillars so toxic that they can kill people. I’ve been stung by the puss caterpillar - southern flannel moth, I believe, or what we called asps back in the 1970s - and that was HORRIBLE. That was just painful. I can’t imagine having to worry about uncontrollable hemorrhaging from just brushing up against a caterpillar.
Antarctica just keeps looking better and better for avoiding creatures that sting, bite, and barb you. Of course, I imagine we’ll see mosquitoes in Antarctica in the not-so-distant future…
Yay coyote is back
