That band is so incredibly tight.. bar none.. Every single one of them. From Lennys sax playing to Chris Parker’s great drumming.. and the great horn section...
William Hurt, Kevin Kline, Christopher Reeve, Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Sigourney Weaver, Robin Williams, etc. The last class of trained, dedicated, disciplined, talented actors. Compare them to today's celebutards. RIP Mr. Hurt, Mr Reeve, Mr. Williams.
He’s still working. He won a third Tony Award in 2017 for Present Laughter on Broadway and pops up in films here and there. Then again, he’s also in his 70s, famous, wealthy and deserving of a rest.
Mr. Leon Pendarvis he's the Musical Director of SNL like G.E Smith and Lenny Pickett. Leon is the best organist from the Blues Brothers and Saturday Night Live Band

@@erichirsch583 The show is BORING now, I love the SNL band though. They were better with GE Smith though. The band GOT a lot more air time back then too.
@@kellyomalley1873 I agree GE Smith and SNL band were great I use to get excited after they say LIVE FROM NEW YORK IT'S SATURDAY NIGHT and GE Smith and the SNL band would start the music up man I miss those times...

Back when people still gave a shit
Teapot's ready! 0:41
Does anybody know what song the band is playing at the end of the clip?
@@ryanloftis1125 don’t really know Ryan...
We need to get back to having a real band and not whatever the third-rate "musical guest" brings with them.
The transition from Master Thespian to Tommy Flanagan was surprising, but still smooth !
"you fooled me! acting! genius! thank you!"
Lovitz just kills it every time!🤣👌👍🏻
At times, I can hear Otto in his voice; at others, Dave. I'm probably forgetting some others - what a range of characterizations!
That thespian guy looks like he is dressed for a party at playboy mansion.
It just occurred to me that SNL was better during this era because the guest hosts could act well in front of a live audience.
This era had the occasional dud host. The real reason it was generally better was the cast and writers were a lot stronger.
and they weren't just picking the latest flash in the pan, youtube celeb.
Not DeNiro
And the cool smiling blond guitarist.
@@sallymjmj750 G.E. Smith! That's right! He was great.
that hair!!!
0:27 Go, Kevin, go!!!
The guy is a great actor, and a great piano player. The good old days of SNL, along with the band's great moments, from back then.
Lovitz man, great! (or is he just acting?)

This was back when the host's job was to entertain the audience, not plug their latest movie or song.
"ACTING!!"
Huey Lewis he aint. But 10 out of 10 for effort and heart.
I low-key didn't want them to start the monologue because I just kind of wanted them to let the band keep on going! lol
Lovitz =🐐
Emperor Todd is awesome.
How come we don’t see him anymore

He's also Mr. Fischoeder on Bob's Burgers, so you don't really see him. More like hear him
Interesting. Good to hear a bit of what he is up to.
He's also the very model of a modern major general and SNL was the very model of a modern network TV show
Or was that Matthew Perry
Who's the organ player?!

Best band!???! This racket at the beginning annoys me more than anything else. Stopped watching.
They are a GREAT band, maybe Lenny's saxaphone playing bothered you.
