    Really good review and comparison to other products. You clearly know what you are talking about and good description about the wrist issue you were experiencing. I realized I was having it too lately and that sent me hunting for a handle bar with a more natural sweep. I'll try out the Salsa based on your recommendation, thanks!

      Thanks for the feedback! Good luck in your hunt for wrist issue resolution. Mine comes back every now and then but usually only after a really chunky ride. There may be only so much I can do in my case but at least it has gotten better! Take care and good luck!

    I tried 12 degree backsweep to alleviate severe thumb pain when on my mtb. That wasn't enough so now I'm on a 20/20 bar with better results and I just bought a 30 degree backsweep/20mm rise bar for my folding flatbike 812 mtb for traveling. Egon grips are helping with wrist pain. It sure is a lot of trial and error, but before bigger backsweep degrees, my thumbs felt like they were being ripped off when I was riding. Rise is helping me feel less scared on descents (I'm low-intermediate), but I'm still on my brakes keeping speed down most of the time. It sure is a lot more fun to ride without hand pain.

      Yup, me too. Went to a 12 degree, then 16 degree, and now on a 24 degree backsweep bar with 4" rise (Moonmen Riser bar). Numbing hands are gone. Wrists are getting better. And now I'm just having more fun. Able to sit up more and enjoy the scenery too now. No need for me to be in bent over "race position" anymore. Just taking a more laid-back approach to my riding these days.

      @@thewayofthemountains2450 Glad you are finding a solution to have more fun and less pain! 4" rise seems crazy high to me though, I picture a banana bike from the 70s. Did you go retro? :) We are old enough to where my husband had a banana bike. How does that kind of rise work for climbing?

      @@mountaingal5555 It's not that high. It reminds me of a BMX bike. It's definitely more upright but it doesn't impact my climbing much at all. I've got pretty long chainstays now so that also helps to keep the front end down on steep climbs.

    I built a custom salsa mukluk full carbon even the rims and I’m not like that. I had a 50mm Thompson 35mm stem race face atlas bar and I wasn’t impressed. I switched to a salsa 31.8 rustler bar and 60mm salsa stem and it totally transformed the ride in such a positive way. For trail riding a 31.8 combo flexes perfectly like you stated in your video.

    Great review. Thanks. What stem are you using?

      Damn, I've been through so many stems it's hard to say but around that time probably a Renthal Duo at 40mm length.

    Did these bars ever end up fully resolving your wrist pains?

      I'm currently going with more backsweep these days still trying to resolve my issues. I do think the Rustler, or any bar that has an 11 or 12 degree backsweep, is a good transition for those used to 8 and 9 degree backsweep bars though.

      @@thewayofthemountains2450What bars are you riding that have more backsweep? Do you also run a longer stem?

    • @thewayofthemountains2450
      @thewayofthemountains2450  Год назад

      @@SugarIslander I'm running some Moonmen Ti 2-piece riser bars with 24 degrees back sweep. Which seems like a lot at first but I've grown accustomed to them. I did go from a 40mm stem to a 50mm to accommodate the increased back sweep.
