Excellent series!! fun & inspiring, thank you very much... :-) You should definitely revive this series... suggestions? ...erm... just give your people the right drugs... :-P
SOUNDIN GREAT ! Would love to see: lofi sample-based beats, drone, sound design-heavy richard devine alien stuff, layered arps like dan deacon etc. just spitballin here !
Stacking full voiced synth patches has always been how the most badass sounds were created. In both mix environments and sound design. Peace 🎶🎶🎶🎶👽❤️✌️✌🏻😉👍🤪🛸🤣Christo
Holy shit. I've been dreaming(literally!) the last few days about how to fill a 54 hp case. What I want out of it is a quirky unique sound source but also a strong effect processing so I can send other synths through it if I want to beef them up. I was thinking About the intellijel rainmaker at its heart but it takes up 36 hp! It begs for loads of modulation sources So I was trying to imagine how to make the most use of the tiles, but I'm so inexperienced with eurorack its really difficult to figure out. Love Baseck! What a badass. Keep em coming!
Check out this tile for modulation, it can be used as an LFO or envelope www.perfectcircuitaudio.com/pulp-logic-cyclic-skew-variable-shape-lfo-envelope-tile-12-hp.html
Well the Troika is 32hp so you would only have 22hp left for the rest of the synth, but you could probably fit a VCF, VCA and two envelopes in there and make a Minimoog style synth.
As someone just learning about modular, I loved this and look forward to seeing more in the series. For me, it would be even better if you actually explained the use of the different modules and the patching. Putting it on Modular Grid too would be nice. I would also like to see some beginner/budget-friendly systems in the future.
The only thing I can think of that I might ask you to do for this series, is something centered on signal processing. Something that might let you do the stuff that Stockhausen did on the Mikrophonie pieces or Mantra, or like what Brian Eno did in the 70's, when he was sometimes credited on other people's records with "treatments" (ie processing the other musicians' performances through his EMS Synthi A). I would imagine such a case would have to have a state variable filter, a ring modulator, some type of reverb, delay, etc. What do you think?
Well. Maybe it's already done. But a gabber set up, would be cool (it would probably just be this set up through a noisy mixer or put an dist to it. Or a some kind of acid electro set up would've been nice. Or maybe like more experimental?
Thanks for the suggestion, there are a few good distortion and saturation modules we are planning on trying out in future 54HP case videos for some dirtier sounds.
I love everything except the pico stuff . Erica and I broke up after they did not deliver my black modular system and I was forced to get other stuff. Maybe a full voice modular module instead! With a dedicated drum voice like the dfam. Yeah! That’s the ticket! Peace Christo 👽❤️🎶🤪✌🏻😉👍✌️👍🤣🛸
I'd like to see a 54hp drum machine system, and a system with only effects paired with a module like the intellijel audio interface that you run external synths through.
future bass grunge vapor noir do it do it since it appears y'all are taking requests. haha great work i love your music thank you for the upload. awesome gear too
Hi im really new to modular synths and so on and i was wondering what that 54HP stand for? Only thing i found was horizontal pitch? But im not sure what they mean with this.. could someone help explain? Thanks in regards.
You could add the Midi interface of the sequencer, would it work sideways? Maybe a effect 54hp, granular + sampling( without clouds). Some more unknown modules, like Japanese modules. Sum up prices too. Good job :)
So, Baseck is finally getting back to trackers like LSDj? ;) Looks like a really fun sequencer for this kind of noodling. What module is playing the Alpha Juno hoover sample?
I think you'd need more than 54 hp to do an EMS impression. The oscillators alone would take up a lot of real estate, then you need a Synthi style filter, the trapezoid generator, ring modulator, spring reverb, and if you want that chaotic "not quite what I wanted" aspect, you need some type of patch matrix that allows signal bleeding (is there such a thing as a patch matrix that doesn't have signal bleed?).
Kohntarkosz Yep, I can see the truth in that. I think it would most definitely be a challenge and wasn’t really envisioning a full spec synthi in 54hp though the future sound systems MTX9 Pin Matrix would be a cool addition.
What are the 1U modules? I've had my eye on an Intellijel case.... Edit: Never mind. Apparently, only 1U intellijel modules work in an Intellijel case for whatever reason.
Yes, unfortunately Intellijel 1U modules and other 1U modules are not compatible. These 1U modules are from Pulp Logic, here is a link to them www.perfectcircuitaudio.com/pulp-logic
Nice! Pulp Logic has loads of 1U modules. Setting all the utilities aside in a little zone is a nice idea. In theory. Kinda like the Dreadbox 168 case with the MIDI, Mixer, Mult, LFO at the bottom.

Ah TRACKER STYLE!!!!! Love it
Baseck always puts a smile on my face 🤘🏽😊
This is awesome. I love the explanation at the end.
INSTANT LOVE< THIS IS WHAT LOVE FEELS LIKE!
Coolness! I was just planning out a 42HP glitch-drum-sampling system earlier today. Nice to see your take on the small modular system concept.
Excellent series!! fun & inspiring, thank you very much... :-)
You should definitely revive this series... suggestions? ...erm... just give your people the right drugs... :-P
This is the kind of portable Eurorack setup I want to build in the future!
54HP ambient!
Some sort of breackcore system!
Ambient/drone machine with 2-3 voices and long form audio... In fact, I’m gonna try it now and then compare with what you come up with!
SOUNDIN GREAT ! Would love to see: lofi sample-based beats, drone, sound design-heavy richard devine alien stuff, layered arps like dan deacon etc. just spitballin here !
Thanks for all of the ideas there we will try out at least one of them!
Perfect Circuit Audio AWESOME ! The idea of super contained modular lunchboxes is the coolest imo !!!
Awesome!😎
54HP AMBIENT BOI
Stacking full voiced synth patches has always been how the most badass sounds were created. In both mix environments and sound design. Peace 🎶🎶🎶🎶👽❤️✌️✌🏻😉👍🤪🛸🤣Christo
Good tip on stacking voices, thanks for the suggestions!

Want to see: budget machines of all sorts (~$800 module budget), generative beats, techno, ambient & drones.
Thanks for the suggestions, we will try to keep the budget lower on some of these cases as well!
Awesome! How about something a little more experimental/west coast-ish?
I really like these kind of compact systems...
Thanks for the suggestion, we can give a west coast 54HP system a shot!
+1 I'd love to see a Buchla Easel clone!
I like it! Can you pull it off with a Troika? Thanks to Eric Synth Pico we can probably do anything!
Well the Troika is 32hp so you would only have 22hp left for the rest of the synth, but you could probably fit a VCF, VCA and two envelopes in there and make a Minimoog style synth.

EPIC!!!!!
Or a neutron and a dfam with those modular effects! Yeah! Another alternative! Peace Christo
Something with the 0-coast mounted in it? Might be a challenge given that the 0-Coast's 45hp, it's just the only modular-ish thing I own.
Well. Maybe it's already done. But a gabber set up, would be cool (it would probably just be this set up through a noisy mixer or put an dist to it. Or a some kind of acid electro set up would've been nice. Or maybe like more experimental?

check out surgeon's live modular rig. It's very compact but he also uses it in combination with an Octatrack. Amazing what he can do with it.
like it!
Would like to see you do a case like mine in (same PL 54 hp case) with clouds, morphagene, PNW and disting.
knew that was Baseck straight away!
Didn't know Mitch Hedberg was still alive doing eurorack presentations! :D
Would love a 54hp oldskool jungle vid
Do an Acid n Bass, kinda death grippy drum sequencer with crazy amen break drum samples
👍
Hey kid didn't think I'd see you here
I'd like to see a 54hp drum machine system, and a system with only effects paired with a module like the intellijel audio interface that you run external synths through.
We like both of those ideas!
west coast?
future bass grunge vapor noir do it do it since it appears y'all are taking requests. haha great work i love your music thank you for the upload. awesome gear too
nice!
Hi im really new to modular synths and so on and i was wondering what that 54HP stand for? Only thing i found was horizontal pitch? But im not sure what they mean with this.. could someone help explain? Thanks in regards.
do 1 with only analogue modules pls, from engineering pov all those dacs are pointless when they're just getting mixed together
All analog is a good idea, thanks!
You could add the Midi interface of the sequencer, would it work sideways?
Maybe a effect 54hp, granular + sampling( without clouds). Some more unknown modules, like Japanese modules. Sum up prices too. Good job :)
Maybe i should make a 1U Midi Expander for it :)
Which unknown Japanese modules would you suggest? I guess we don't know about them yet.
well this was fucking awesome
ambient workstation: lots o lfos, voices, reverbs
Thanks for the suggestion, a few people have asked for ambient or drone cases, so we will try to build one in an upcoming episode!
thx i need
So, Baseck is finally getting back to trackers like LSDj? ;)
Looks like a really fun sequencer for this kind of noodling.
What module is playing the Alpha Juno hoover sample?
The hoover sample is coming from the NerdSeq, it has two sample playback tracks and outputs.
Awesome
nice and compact... but so pricey!! Behringer have just helped us out on that side of things ;-)
Sounds sooo much better than rave music!
How about a 54hp EMS Synthi????
Sounds interesting, but it would be a tight squeeze, maybe parts of a Synthi would fit in though.

How much would all this gear cost? Been looking to put together a similar lunchbox modular portable setup.
The case runs $250, 1U Pulp Logic modules are only $20-45 each and the regular modules in this particular case add up to about $1500.
Build a compact monster funk machine! Or a Einstürzende Neubauten case :D
purplepapers einstürzende neubauten would be really great
Acid. Gonna give you Acid.
so how much would a rig like this set me back?
List price adds up to $1754 without the 1U tiles, but if you bought all of this stuff at once you could get a better deal if you contact us.

Fukk-its a beauty
anyone know what kind of case that is?
It's one of these Pulp Logic cases www.perfectcircuit.com/pulp-logic-lunchbox-lbz54.html
this bares resemblence to Renard - YOU GOT CURVES, SHE GOT CURVES that I cannot explain
"Hi, this is Baseck. I am playing this simple jam with a 4-slice toaster and a pair of rubber bands attached to some pocket fuzz. I hope you enjoy!"
And it still sounds FUCKING AWESOME!
How much does this total out to? Looking to start a modular synth soon :)
Edit: haha I'm a dunce I didn't see the links in the description
damn I wish the nerdseq was cheaper, I've wanted one for so long but just can't afford dropping almost $700 on a module.
I preffer an ipad app over this case, not too much tweak-ability
54 HP... plus a row full of 1U items 😂😂😂 why aren’t the 1U items listed in the description?
54HP Ambient/Generative
The HP wars continue...
proto-techno + jazz?
an all Noise Eng 54hp setup
I'm the one and only Dominator! Wanna kiss myself! XD
give is 54hp of FM wonderment
Good Idea, we might try through zero FM.
Better with Plaits
Plaits looks great, but we shot this video before Plaits was a thing, and the uBraids is still fun.
!!!
This is super cool, but $1615? It's like people who sell/make modular gear live in a different world.
Yes, we do. The door is open... come in for some tea.
Wasted too much time with trackers in ‘99 no thanks! Otherwise rad box.
