I had an octatrak 1, I found it intuitive and got a really nice flow, I could visualise everything I wanted to do with it, which steps to lock, parameter changes, parts, alternative parts with the cross fader, and with the parts chaining, then I sold it and went 'in the box' with reason, I got a Roland MC 101 and couldn't make head nor tail of it...

Back before I discovered that I prefer triggering all of my cells with my own hands instead of using sequencers if ever possible, I had thought on occasion about getting such a dream machine as this Elektron model showcased here (or a Clavia ddrum model). There was something appealing about having a drum machine with modeled drum tones on it instead of just a module like the Novation Drum Station. That changed when I discovered not only that I don’t like sequencing any longer but also that somebody needs to model the Simmons drum line as well as the Roland beatbox wine.
I still love the OT. It's weird as hell but it's incredibly rewarding. To this day the most glaring omission on this unit is the 6 parameter knobs---as in there should be 8--so that I can pull up a mixer screen that gives me levels on all 8 tracks. But this isn't possible. The "mixer" screen is more for input and output levels and mutes but no dedicated level knobs for individual track levels.
if you really use your octatrack you will understand that the volumes are useless.. when you create the part you have an encoder specifically for as many as you want... if you then want mixing functions like dub.. buy a midi controller

😀😀😀
Omg, he did it! Will watch and probably comment again lol
I have two co workers wanting to buy this, I have walked them through positives and negatives, but neither really understand when I tell them the learning curve is extreme.
Also push3 standalone should be next
Great suggestion, thank you!!!
Merry Christmas! Thanks!
It's called the Octatrack, because it takes 8 times as long to make music with it. ;)
🤣
UFO95 is a magician.
❤ the visuals on your last jam
Finally!!
❤️❤️❤️
Had one for a while, I sold it and this video proved i made a good choice
😀😀😀
I owned three Octatracks, I sold all three, never again!!
One is already a pain in the ass, so why 3?
I feel you!
Wow, those jams man... Awesome!!
Thanks!!!
Uh oh
Nothing personal, Jon;)
@@AudioPilz do the Tonverk next and we’re even
I have a friend who got so totally frustrated by it that the machine ended her life smashed against the wall. Yep, some gear do make you feel that way and some feeling that way may well go all the way!
Destroying an OT is insane but also completely understandable.
I would call that a rather drastic measure...
That Spring Reverb sounded nothing like a reverb, let alone a spring. And flashcards……….. in 2024?
That spring is quite controversial indeed
That second jam really cooked! Gotta admit, the final number kinda had me hearing "All your base (base base) All your base are belong to us" in my head.
The worst thing about Elektron is not the gear, but their owners relentlessly trying to convince you (and themselves) how good it is 🤣
Agreed, it comes off very cultish at times.
Guilty;)
@@dadwax but it is though
@@dadwax I don't try and convince people though words, I try and convince them through actions. I've owned an impossible amount of gear and I can confirm, it is the best gear (for me anyway 😃)
The physical revulsion I felt when I first pressed the mechanical keyboard clicky clack buttons on the digitakt (I think that's what it was) put me off them forever.
Learning the MPC X was hard enough, but at least you can see what you are doing.
Merry bloody christmas 😀
True that! Hope you had a great one too
Been to Fucking. Also driven through Wank in (or near) Bavaria.
That's what I call tourism...
Wow. It’s not often that people publicly ‘own’ being a Sex Tourist, like this …
They did change the name - to Fugging - in 2021, didn’t they?
FINALLY!!!! The ULTIMATE Christmas present! This one for the show’s HISTORY😆
❤️❤️❤️Merry Christmas!!!❤️❤️❤️
Octatrack.... they made a gear that make you wanna use DAW and VSTs again.... instead of being created for the opposite.
🤣🤣🤣
