I reckon that a drum focused modular beat system outworks and outpaces any dedicated drum machine by a fair few miles. I have a MFB drum machine, a vermona DRM 1 and a behringer rd-6 and an MPC X, granted, I am nowhere near as creative as you are, but when it comes to a modular set-up there's nothing else more inspiring. The ability to patch point X to point Y and get really crazy with it is what makes up the bigger picture.
All of this amazing gear in one convenient package for around $2,400! That may sound like a lot of dough, but it's so open to creative exploration! Amazing video! Thanks for sharing!
Damn, this is literally the most inspiring build I've ever seen and the sounds you're getting out of it are so good. I'm definitely gonna steal a couple of those module choices.
amens to glitch in less than 60sec, now this is my type of demo ^^ Amazing combo of modules! Never thought about getting into modular before, but you might just have inspired me to think about my own custom drum machine.
It's both incredibly wonderful and also a tiny bit frustrating (when you're struggling to move past 8-bar phrases yourself) to see people exude such amazing creativity. I've really liked your guitar music and production - but how you handle synths is just ... magical. And that setup is a beast! I love all of this. Also - pretty much my favorite contemporary electronic artist has been singing your praises quite a bit - and you know if you manage to impress Benn Jordan (both with music and being just such a cool person), you've already reached what I'd consider to be peak musicianship :D ... and now I really need to see you two live together. In Europe, maybe... ? hey ... a guy can dream.
Haha! Falling into voids can happen surprising often. There are worse places to be though. My attention is being slowly peaked by mudular, so it was very interesting to hear about your setup. Thank you.
I love my 62hp palette so much, same exact in black as well - having the tiny, focused case I can throw on my bed is SO nice and it really makes you think hard about what you're doing, break old barriers in your patches nice beats and setup
Cool lil system that sounds huge! I have a similar system but a jomox kick instead of the BIA. Haven’t bothered to load samples into the Rample yet because there is already plenty of cool stuff in there. Awesome as always!
Nice and neat solution! Can you please make some more videos about tiny setup ideas? For instance , guitar/synth fx setup, chords/textures setup. Palette is awesome, because it helps to stay focused
Looks like you have a bigger space to make your music in! CONGRATS!! FYI: when doing videos, more lights, more lights and then one or two more lights! lol OH! The rack has great drum possibilities!! WOW!
This is exactly what I've been looking for. I've been working exclusively with drones but hankering after some fucked up rhythms to pair with them. Now I just need the money!
Most people using the palette case will need to use the outputs though so a 1U Line Out module would be needed. Then may as well fill the remaining space with Steppy I would think ;)
Every time I see one of your modular synth videos, I feel I ought to point you towards Vile Electrodes, who are a UK band that have been doing (very atmospheric) modular synth stuff for years Keep up the good work. It was your guitar stuff that brought me to your channel but the synth stuff, the Electron Digitakt that kept me here (I seriously want one of those, just need to do enough gigs to pay for one, and those have been in short supply over the last 18 months)
You can use a passive mult for triggers/gates. The buffered is for CV/Audio signals. Nothing wrong with using it for triggers/gates, but the pallet case already has 2 buffered mults across the top. You could probably find something better to do with the 2hp. Or drop both the 2hp and the Diaz, use the zadar for modulating the BIA, and take the 6hp back for something else, like a second BIA. XD I dunno. It's a good kit.
Love the compact form factor. I took a totally different approach with mine. Pams is a bit fiddly and I wanted something hands-on, so I use a combination of Grids, branches, latching manual+CV switches and an antimatter launch codes for more immediate control of changes in pattern. Currently driving a BLCK_NOIR but the sounds on that are a bit vanilla so I'm adding a squarp rample, which is what lead me here. Tempted to ditch the BLCK for something more modulatable like a BIA or a taiko or something, but having a stereo out, aux in, filter and set of nice FX makes it hard to pass up on all that functionality.
mannnnnn! Sarah is so cool! Those sounds were sicccck! I love it I have a drum case similar to this, it definitely comes in handy, never know what band you are gonna play with
Awesome. This is, in the "DIY analog synth context" named as: "Military-grade quatum high tech engineering with cutting-edge advanced cuasi-alien technology". Expensive but powerfull. Gorgeous stuff!!!!!!!!
I feel this. I modded monotron delay , added two craves and zoned out completely. If i build modular synth, void will take me away. There are two big synths looking at me right now, and i’m struggling to start dig them.
@@wickeddubz I feel ya! I just bought my second Crave too - insane machine. Always wanted more Crave and it arrived today! And I have that Korg Nu tekt NTS1 Cheers!
I’m hearing a lot of people asking Behringer to make modules. They make some cool and very affordable semi modular synths to start out on. VCV rack is another suggestion. It’s free modular synth software. You can buy modules for very cheap (for the software of course) and they give you more than enough to play with off the bat. You do have to have a really good computer for it, preferably a pc. They also have all sorts of modules that are actual on the market. Good luck!
i just biult the rack on modular grid .. 1499 euro RRP plus another 300 for the case .. i dont agree with her comment on the workflow being better than a digitakt one bit ,elektron work flow is fast when you know it well ., but the sounds youd get from that little rig would be a nice option to have ..
@@ArkaHtun For me, it's not so much the workflow is faster, but modular is different. It makes you think about inputs and outputs in different ways and that is worth the price of admission, if you can afford it.
