I swear, Cooley, the way you make Automotive Tech info. accessible to the general public, is INCREDIBLE. Bravo.
If our government was filled with people like him (instead of AOCCP) we would be in paradise ... comparatively speaking.
I feel so much wiser every time I watch Cooler explains car things.
Ken S Water-cooley Talk
Trust Cooley to take a relatively simple issue such an auto window up or down to a WHOLE new level.
Window regulations are a pane.
John Capozzi Clearly has its ups and downs. Closed case.
John Capozzi I see what you did there. 👍🏾
Tremendous
Can Cooley to the old format of car reviews and longer segment. This guy is awesome
I've always like the manner in which Cooley presents material. He makes it interesting to listen to and easy to understand.
"No vegetables were harmed in the making of this video"
They were harmed.
I never realized this was a luxury of my 2013 Jetta, but I do REALLY appreciate it on al my windows!
Loving all of these Cooley videos lately
Poor Carrot/Cucumber RIP
LOL
How would that even be possible?
You'd have to stick it right near the top, which would be almost side-ways.
Now if it was from the outside, thats another story...
Ahmed360 when there's a will....
Don' worry. They were eaten
Reminds me of the classic 3D guillotine demonstration, found right here on the pages of RUclips. That thing's gotta be going on ten years old now.
Cooley is one in a million! Not only he express clearly his expressions make it stick in your brain!
My car has all 4 auto express and with fob. Super nice in the right now. Cools down the car instantly before you get in. Don’t think I’ll be able to live without it in the future!
Just when I thought I knew everything about cars Cooley goes and teaches me something I've wondered about but never put enough thought in to ask.
I have one more possible reason: One touch up/down can be more difficult to use when you’re not trying to open or close the window all the way. My passengers very often unintentionally activate this feature in my car. I have to tell them to push or pull lightly if they want the window to stop when they release the switch. Granted it could be a design issue on my car where the engineers didn’t put enough resistance before activating the express function, but it is one more thing to modulate on the user’s part.
LOL I put express up and down in both my windows 2003 SVT Focus, I got three express down modules from 80's Taurus and wired them in for auto up and down. The car is a stick shift and it's one of the best mods I've ever done.
I don't see $6 worth of electronic components in each module I had to wire in, especially at a bulk wholesale price a car maker would get.
THIS VIDEO ANSWERS SOOOOO MANY QUESTIONS!!!!!
My man Cooley, back at it again.. 😎👍
On my ‘14 Jetta I have auto windows and I love it
I don't see how you only have 130k subscribers!? Excellent videos!
Not sure how much of a luxury feature this is considered but I know the Ford Escape SE 2014 has this on every window and every window switch. You also did not mention that the hardware in the switch is also necessary. Auto windows have 2 positions so you can still operate them normally. You’ll feel it if you move slower.
Wow! Incredible video! Informative, concise and well thought out. Keep it up! I sort of had that same question lingering in the back of my mind when I was reviewing certain new vehicles, too.
$18...!!! They can add $50 to the msrp and most will be blissfully unaware and think they got a free upgrade.
$18 for the cost of making a car thats alot of cost for manufacturer
@@salem99099 But the cost is being passed on to the consumer.
I'd happily pay an extra amount of money for that feature.
If car manufacturers added every $18 feature, the price would go up by hundreds, or even thousands.
Cooley...do the full car reviews please.
I remember some cars had half-n -half solution for window automatization in cars, like front windows automatic and manual on rear doors. In many circumstances you needed to open opposite windows for quick up-downs for traffic stops.
My car - a 2003 VW Passat Sedan, doesn't have auto up on the back windows nor window actuation via keyfob, but if I hold the key in the lock position on the driver's side door it will shut all of the windows for me :)
These people are asking great questions! wow!
My car has express down on my drivers window, but not up which is really annoying. Especially since I drive a manual
You don't need ARS on the way down, as you can imagine.
It also takes a whole different button, not just programming...
Some of the window motors have fragile plastic bushings in the gears though. Theyre meant to break if anything was in the way of the window.
That would mean having to take the door apart to replace the bushings in case of an accident.
A couple cents of plastic wasted is better than the alternative.
Always wondered. Thank you for clearing that out!
Outstanding explanation Brian👍
To heck with the windows..What I want is a rain sensing sunroof so when I forget to close mine it will automatically do so when parked. I don't know how much power that would take but it would be worth it.
Luke Ziolkowski there are some cars that have such a function. My Mercedes W212 for example does this exact thing and it's pretty nice to have.
It's an option in VWs since around the Golf 5 era, if your car is fitted with rain-sensing wipers.
I think all current models VW have auto up.
I think segmentation is the main reason for this. I've actually never even had an express-up window, only express-down windows. No safety concern there
Wow. For the longest time, I have been wondering why the window switches in my parent's 2012 Impala are different than the window switches in my 2006 Impala. Everything else about them is identical. That safety regulation was probably implemented halfway through the model's production cycle.
My windows don’t work but it was too hot so I just took out the driver side window haha. Still a great video.
Thats Cooley, telling it like it is, thats why he's the best in the buisness
VW have all 4 window auto up and down
Simon Zhao and standard on all models
Must be a Euro thing! My base 2008 Rabbit had it!
True! My Passat have it. Also used an OBD port device made specifically for VW/Audi cars to program windows and sunroof to close/open via remote.
Mine too. Also the ten-year old Saabs that I’ve been test driving.
Simon Zhao
Boy, that sucks.
My e12 corolla 2003 has it on all windows. Luxury car xD
You are the most knowledgeable person in car 🚗 s 👍 I like your way
i totally didn't know about ARS, so does that mean if i stick my finger and auto up my window, the window won't crush my finger too hard and auto down? From the look of that tomato it seems to be that way at least.
Hey Mr Cooley have u look into the New Vetts it's capability and pricing along with current vetts and what will it do to the pricing market wars of rear driven cars???
OBD11 app represent! Love that thing on my Golf R - being able to raise/lower all the windows with the key fob should be a standard feature here in North America, not have to be enabled later.
Spinal2111 remember the topic of regulations are different depending on the country. So the car is capable of doing it but for the US market it might not be approved. Some with your center console not opening.
#Cooley 2020!.
You have my vote already Cooley!!
Run for POTUS!!!
All my windows are auto up and down in my Canadian Mk7 Golf, not sure if this is different in the US
I have a 2015 Jetta se and all 4 windows are express up and it was the only vehicle in it's class where that was available
I drive a car with 2 doors and it has express up on both and with remote operation on the key fob (only up, not down) I am not sure but I think that the 4 doors versions of the same car also have express up if the driver operates then from their seat (maby not if operated by the passengers on the back seat) and all can be remotely closed so I assume they must have ARS on all 4
Really? The United Nations regulates if automatic windows stop and reverse or not?
really?... out of curiosity, what is the moon made of?? do you know about the moon?
But people play like 200$ extra just for plastic mud flaps hahaha
Pie 4life well yeah rally armor is an expensive brand, but there’s plenty of no-name brands that are cheap as plastic cutting boards
They had to machine a $30,000 injection mold to make those mudflaps for the 500 or so people who will actually option them. Have to be profitable to actually do it.
Bean counters are the anti-thesis to car enthusiasts and engineers
It's also clearly hardware dependant as well. A 5 position switch costs more than 3 position, plus wiring and control circuitry.
Lots of Fords I've been in have express up and down all the way around, even in non high-end trims.
regulations right? well... actually we may have to thank them and laywers(go figure!) for having car doors and power windows that DOESN'T chop hands and fingers... xD because I think is not out of the corporation's good will...
thanks for the Cool-ey info Brian! xD
cheers!
Double express down in my '94 for the driver controls. Absolutely irritated by windows in newer cars where you cannot control a window to put it exactly where you want it without tripping express and over running.
Cooley seriously rules
My base model Golf has all auto windows.
Yeah. That's cuz they took the money they spent on those away from things under the hood.
yeah those VW engines are soooo bad...
@@JakeRoot It's not the engines so much, but rather all the cheap plastic parts around it.
2WhiteAndNerdy -- pretty much in-line with the rest of auto manufacturers.
also my ford focus
Great response!
My c350 has automatic roll up and roll down windows with one click on all 4 can’t live without them !!
My 2016 base model Jetta has it for all windows
Yeah but as the driver I also have controls to roll up or down all 4 windows. So ur saying I should turn around and keep an eye on the rear windows as i roll them up while driving? (Mind you since they dont have Express up that I would chop off any fingers in the way since I was holding the up button) This is simply planned obsolescence.
Daaaaaaaamn... Jedy Master Cooley...
I always wondered this as well. Luckily my 09 Infiniti G37 has full express on all 4 windows and sunroof
The 2014 Toyota Sienna minivan i drive ( a base model) has 4 auto up and auto down windows.
My 86 has Express Up/Down for both windows :)
What happened to the full half hour show?
I have express up on both the driver and passenger side (front) windows. Porsche cayenne 2008
yo if having all automatic windows in an economy car is important to you, the vw jetta does it
sounds a little petty but this is a on my check list for my next vehicle. Drives me ba ShlT crazy whenI get in a 2017-18 car that does not have auto windows for all 4
Hey Cooley. When i pump gas. Why does it say not to top off. What happens exactly when people top off too much. I see many people topping off even when the gas automatically clicks. Are you really able to fill more gas?
I do it too sometimes, but topping up can cause spillage that then becomes a fire hazard.
If you live in cold climates and top off then put your car in a warm garage, the fuel will expand and spill out.
Sirfman Gasoline will soak your coal cartridge that's inside your gas tank and you'll need to replace it.
Yep, can screw up your evap system. By brothers got so messed up in his hyundai, it would click off every 2 seconds when fueling causing him a pita repair
You also get the worst mpg if you care about that stuff.
Im guilty of cramming the tank full up til the nosel. Actually to the point of leaving my truck running so itll suck up the neck fuel. I had long drives and was lazy. Also wanted a flat number like $60.00 not $59.98. I get better traction/ride with a full tank. Doesnt beat me to death on bad roads.
I often wondered about that
Every Ford, PSA and VAG products have global automatic windows in the UK
Why does every Brit watch American TV for the sole purpose of pointing out how it doesnt apply to them and how great everything is in the UK
stickloaf I can assure it's not everyone who's British, and I watched the video because I like cars, I work in the motor industry and I think Cooley is a great presenter. I'm not pointing out anything wrong and I'm not saying that everything is better in the UK, I'm simply stating what I want which is the whole point of the comment section
I know the 2013- current Ford c max's come with it (even in the us)
+Derek Hood That's the awesome side of having more car functions relying on something like a BCM. Don't like the way the local version of your car does something? Update the computer's coding to suit your preferences.
Even my econobox Chevy Meriva had it
My Ford Fusion has fully automatic windows
Does Cooley even do anymore full episodes?
My Kia forte has auto up and down, heated and cooled seat, heated steering wheel, back-up. camera, killer stereo, and was far cheaper than any other small car, from any manufacturer, now I've ordered a new stinger, the car that's kicking everybody's ass.
I have a base model 2013 VW Passat that has ALL four windows fully automatic. Just depends on the brand. They aren’t just for the rich lol
Good info
The 370z doesn't have the automatic reversal system. I really wish it did when I closed my finger in there a few months back. Big ole blood blister under my nail and it was numb for about a week.
Brian Thomas Didnt take a hot needle to go through popping that sucker? Done that a few times when wacking the crap out of my finger..
My e46 has all automatic windows, and I think it’s standard on all models cuz my friend has a 325i and it also has all automatic windows
oh that's why VW turned off lowering and raising the windows with the key fob but they have in Europe.
Basically all Camry’s have 4 automatic windows since 2007
Haha my car has it and it’s an Toyota Venza. Even the base version of the venza have all 4 auto up and down.
Some good points about express up but he failed to talk about express down.... not nearly as much risk with express down...
I would argue: bring back manual window for the driver door! Reason1: Driver can not reach the other 3 doors, but can always reach his own window! Reason2: open and close without having the key in the ignition; Reason3: driver door window is used most often, manual is cheaper to fix!
cooley the goat
I drive an 05 Acura TL and both my windows up front have auto up and down
My sister in laws 2015 Toyota Venza has all four windows express up and down.
My 2014 FIAT has four express windows.
PUT COOLEY ON CAR REVIEWS
Is "Marshall" really Sofyan Bey from Redline Reviews? lol
Just give us auto down for every window at least :p
My 2012 Prius had all auto up down windows....
They are in my car lol. Passat
When a gang of smart people scam you. Just stand there and scratch your head
Some cars have done so, Toyota Avalon has automatic down and up window
I have crank windows on an 81 year old Ford. They still work.
My c-max is the base model and all windows are auto up and down for some reason
How does a automatic reversal system work?
Faizan ali siddiqui Mohammed Its a preassure/resistance switch like a garage door. Its programed to stop at a point, if the sensor is set off in that given limit it told to reverse the cycle.
Glad my 20 year old VW is so advanced an luxurious it has auto on all 4 Windows 😁
Yeah, I somehow have a feeling if express windows were an $18 option, people might go for it.
HunterShows $18 for the manufacture. $1500 for the consumer..
God, those "express up/down" windows are a PITA. How many times do I want to crack a window...and it shoots past the mark...and then shoots back past the mark, when I correct.
I'd pay more for a car that DIDN'T have them.
