Candle clocks were actually a real thing. Long ones were set to burn at night with nails in them. When the candle burnt down to the nail the nail would be released and dropped onto a metal plate. Loud noise would work as an alarm clock

A fire clock is just a candle with the wick in a coil so it takes a long time to burn down and they used a mix of wax and fat to make the candle melt at the appropriate amount of time. Although they mainly used them like a timer rather than a clock unless they where kings or super rich cause the amount of fat and wax needed at the time was not cheap.

Intern buddy, a long case clock is a wall clock, just with the pendulum. Grandfather clocks are much larger and sit on the floor near the wall.
