Yep. Or could be a bad cam sensor. Take it to a shop to get the timing fixed. Or you can do it yourself with a few special tools. I know your comment is 5 months old but i'm sure someone else might find it useful.
Hello. What was the issue and solution here in the end? I have the same issue with a Hyundai i30 (1.4 with gas/benzin motor). I have changed all the 4 spaark plugs, but it didnt solve the issue
sounds like your valves are raddleing to me try checking the play in the rocker arms if there isnt exess play in them its going to be the valve guides are worn sorry about the spelling
LOL! Cash for clunkers is for reducing O2 emissions. It's not about your car still running. Besides, I don't even have a new car. I have a 91 240SX with an SR20 swap. 22mpg city/30mpg highway. Couldnt ask for a better daily driver.

Try the PCV valve! I have this issue due to too much crank case pressure
