Jamie is quick to admit his revisions. One of the reasons he doesn't like his older books is because of the amount of things he thinks differently on these days.

@@stevepace-first8617 I prefer that old mantra we lived by "never discuss religion and politics". It's got us all so fractured when we could be using that mental energy to enhance the brotherhood we share in the one activity we all love that binds us.
@@carvedouttastone sure, but as I say, I saw it as a fairly hefty aspect of what Lewis was attempting. @@stevepace-first8617 yes well said and I agree with you. @@carvedouttastone Yeah its sickening. The whole armwrestling event with the buildup to the arm break is totally worth watching imo: ruclips.net/video/HAxqLsJPXrE/видео.htmlsi=wWoEsh4HKjJY6wbk&t=725

@carvedouttastone honestly I've been really curious about hyperplasia. How it's developed and what you and jaime think about that as a more broad topic.
Another entertaining and enlightening episode. I suspose in bodybuilding there is always the tension between the Appollian physique and the Herculean type physique. Frank Zane definitely veers towards the Appollian whereas Mentzer was more Herculean.I think each bodybuilder is generally has qualities of both ideals. Nevertheless I felt each influenced each other. After Zane's 79 win he sought greater size and trained in Doug Young's gym. Doug Young is a revered powerlifting legend. Also Mentzer looked to come in ripped to deal with Zane's conditioning. Came close to death in doing so. Which also explains his eventual departure from competitive bodybuilding. Unfortunately the Arnold freight train loaded with vested interests derailed their plans. I believe that Zane is sincere in his beliefs and pursuit of eastern philosophies. I like the concept of bodybuilding as the western equivalent of yoga.He is definitely a strange guy and not one of the regular guys. As you said in a video always danced to the beat of his own drum. The Big Red Machine would make a great interview.
The influence of the Apollonian physique on the Herculean and vice versa is very astute and great connection made there between Zane and Mentzer feeding each other's improvement cycles. Is Doug Young, The Big Red Machine? Apart from pictures, I've never really learned too much about him before
Just to clear up the misunderstanding which is entirely my fault. Doug is a God among powerlifters especially as he hit a recordbreaking total with three broken ribs. It appeals to that machismo culture, but hey I'm impressed too. I used Big Red Machine to refer to Ken Waller. I heard It once and I didn't realise it was obscure. My apologies.
Oh yeah I knew Big Red was Waller, I thought maybe someone else had a similar moniker. Yeah would've loved to have interviewed him, but our boy Nerd Worm on that other channel poisoned the well after his interview with Waller - Ken was pissed and is no longer doing anymore interviews.
He seems to have a habit of rubbing his interviewees the wrong way. Tom Platz pulled out, but I guess he wanted to be paid. I know he is avoiding interviews while writing a book. When Platz does a book tour then you may be able to get on board. Perhaps if you got Robbie Robinson on then Waller would follow. You have trained arms with the old master. You are a genuine fan, historian, practitioner and immensely knowledgeable and produce the goods when it comes to interviewing. Your interest is in the art not in the business. I hope they recognise that.
Yeah I appreciate that. I would love to be able to cover the costs of running the channel (all these little extras add up with the programs,.editors and Photoshop etc) and hopefully build a coaching business eventually, but I'm not doing this for you the fame or mega ad revenue dollars. You won't see supplements being shilled here, but I like to promote others hard work to keep this industry alive. Thanks always for your support Stind both as a patron and commenter!
If Jamie Lewis (or anyone really) had exact same views as he did 10 years ago, it would be proof that he learned nothing. It’s called learning and evolving.

I've always been in 2 minds about Jamie. He was/is a strong/jacked dude but as is always the case, what they say should never be taken as gospel. I remember thinking his 300-400g protein recommendations 10+ years ago were absurd. Many in the field who were familiar with the research at the time (2010 onwards), knew 1g/lb was what was needed AT MOST. Then you had his insistence on the debunked carb/insulin model of obesity and preaching how carbs were fattening. For a guy who was a self professed researcher, it seems he got an awful lot wrong, despite overwhelming scientific evidence contradicting his claims

Never thought I would hear Lewis saying 1.6 g per kilo, I remember him banging on about 400g daily....but good he said it.
