In the mean streets of 1940s Los Angeles, a war veteran played by Denzel Washington finds himself caught in a web of deceit and danger when he accepts a job from a complete stranger to find a mysterious missing woman played by Jennifer Beals. Being that he recently lost his job and has mortgage to pay he accepts the job of finding a mysterious woman. He encounters dangerous situations and powerful influential people.
