- TobyMac is one of the most prolific Christian music artists in the industry with seven Grammy Awards and over 16 million unit sales. In 2019, he and his family suffered an immense tragedy when Toby’s first-born son Truett passed away from an accidental drug overdose soon after his first headline show.
Initially releasing 21 Years as a tribute to Truett, and then Promised Land and Help is on the Way as Toby documented his journey from pain to hope, culminating in his new album Life After Death.

Goodness wonderful song 🎶
God never promised happiness all the time, and he gave us tears so that we clean and wash our sight to see that he is there he gave you those for a reason
Just found this interview. What great questions! This was a real joy to watch.
Glad you enjoyed it!
My husband passed away a year ago. I don't know what it is like to lose a child, but hearing your music, has touched me through my grief journey. Thank you Toby and God bless you and your family.
Yes he is... he's an incredible person and shows his amazing faith to people through his music!!
My husband of 32 years, my best friend, my confidante, my financial advisor, my lover, my forever went to be with Jesus 6/29/22 I know the pain you speak of. I want to feel that “help is on the way” but right now I don’t. I 🙏 God shows me “something” like He did for you❤️✝️💔
So sorry for your loss! Praying for you now ❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I agree with you and that prayer
So sorry for your loss... I pray for you to feel God's love very soon. It is easy for us to get upset, angry, frustrated and have doubt because of our grief and loss. Please know that your husband is in a lot better place then where we are right now and that God does love you. I have been told to be quiet, look and listen to see God speaking to you. I usually hear it through songs on Klove, it is like God put those words in the songs on the radio at that exact moment so I could hear it. Sometimes it will be just background noise and I will hear one line of the song that catches my attention and I will instantly cry because so many times it is what I am going through and needed to hear before I gave up on life. Toby is truly a inspiration in his trust and faith, to remain so strong in worshiping Christ, after losing his son. Not sure a lot of us could do that.
Thank you Toby for this album. I needed to hear your heart. My husband of 50 years, my one & only passed May 2019 and the only way I have survived is by turning to a deeper relationship with God & Christian music. 2020 shutdown was a blessing cause it was just me, God, the dog & my google mini to listen to music 24/7. I'd journal through other artists lyrics bouncing my thoughts off their words. So thank you again. We will see them again. And I understand.
Love your music Toby Thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoy it!
Would ya see me in a different light! Wasthe line he was looking for!
Good interview and good interviewer, but she smiled at the wrong times. When talking about grief with someone, you shouldn't smile on the worst parts of their story. I'm sure she's unaware of it but maybe that's something she can work on. It was uncomfortable.
I think she was smiling because he was speaking of the great positives alongside the grieving moments
