Flashback is a terrific game. If I hadn't spent $70 for the Jaguar cartridge I would pick up the Delphine cart. Another World is too tough for me and the two point and click adventure titles would be better suited with keyboard and maus
Quite an eclectic selection but glad to see a couple of games from The Home Computer Heroes Collection make a showing. For me the Team 17 Collection games Project X, the Alien Breed games and funnily enough Body Blows would certainly make my top 10. Also Piko Interactive 3 games 40 Winks, Zero Tolerance and of course Sword of Sodan would also be in there. Piko Arcade 1 games, Steel Force, The Legend of Silkroad and maybe even Diver Boy would get a mention. Finally I would have to add at least one off the C64 Collection 2 and that's Pitstop II which is so good that I even modified my Kempston style joystick to work with it properly :-) Keep up the awesome work!
A very different look at games for sure. There really is no right or wrong answers here. Even if I think Sword of Sodan is rubbish, you clearly enjoy it and that's the main thing.
Definitely took a while to narrow my top 10 down but mine would be. 1- Duke Nukem 1 2- Full Void 3- Sword of Ianna 4- Goodboy Galaxy 5- Flashback 6- Duke Nukem 2 7- Tapeworm Disco 8- Sydney Hunter and the caverns of death 9- The Legend of Silkroad 10- Rogue 64. Eyra the crow maiden gets an honourable mention :). So many other games I enjoyed as well but those are definitely my top 10. Bloody good year for evercade it was :)
Interesting list. Even Rogue 64 making it. What a cool game that we got free. This title might be better than 90% of the games on the actual c64 collections.
@@CrazyBurger That's what I like about these top 5 or 10 lists. It gives us all different opinions on the same thing we love :). Oh I was pleasantly surprised how good the game was. It might be very easy and can be beaten within 30 mins each time but it's so much fun. It definitely should of been on the Indie home computer heroes but as a free game it's brilliant.
I can't name 10 games from this year off the top of my head that I would have played and liked a lot. But, I'd top my list with Duke 1 Remastered and Astebros. I've played both for several hours and to my surprised, I really prefer Duke 1 over Duke 2. The pizza delivery game on Piko 3 is another that I liked, and Toaplan 2 had Hellfire, but then I have trouble naming games that I've played or even tried. I'd place Rogue64 in the top-10, though.
Hahaha. How could it ever be anything different than that Duke game Crazy Burger! LOL!🤣. I think you have chosen the correct ones for this list. 👍. Have not played it. But not sure if it’s deserving to be at the very top of that list?! 🤔. Is it really that good?! Both GOOD BOY & FULL VOID seems like the effort has really been poured into them! 😊. I finished FV. It’s just GREAT! Very immersive! But some of those puzzles! 😤. Don’t get me started with that ridiculous memory-stretching floor piano puzzle! 😖. Besides the down points you mentioned about them though. It’s strange that a much older “retro” game supersedes them as BEST?! When they should seems to be bench marks for future Evercade releases?! 🤔. It’s a bit like that older Sci-Fi film: SOLDIER. Staring Kurt Russell. About this these genetically engineered Soldiers. Who have been created to replace the older natural born Soldiers. Who are just human. But had been hand picked for their natural aggressive, or fighting qualities and programmed to be the BEST! 🤔. Sorry for the extra there Crazy Burger, but come to think of it. It’s a nice Analogy, because Duke is like a Solder of sorts too! WOW! 😮. I didn’t see that one coming! LOL! 😂. Maybe you are wright after all?!… 🤔
You didn't like the music/sfx of Duke 1 and 2? They're among my favorite parts. The new remixes sound very period-appropriate, and take me back to that comforting MS-DOS midi era. 👌
What pulled down Steel Force for me was not being able to lock your direction of fire. I know you can't do that on some Alien Breed's either but the packing in this one would have really made this a good improvement. Citadel is starting to pull me towards the Indy Heroes collection even though I was disappointed to see free stuff like Farming Simulator on there. Would you say its worth it for this and Sword of Iana?
Good list and fun video as always. Steel Force is soooo good and such an excellent hidden gem. I can't quite get into the Alien Breed games but Steel Force is exactly my type of game. I need to give Flashback a longer try. I only recently got into Another World and I think that game is great and I'm sure I'll enjoy Flashback once I get the hang of it and get going.
Cheers... yeah once you figure out Flashback controls then the idea of the first level you'll master the rest of the game. It is very tough, so save state often!
I agree with your points about GBG. It is a wonderfully creative game with strong personality but frustrating in its "what am I supposed to do now" aspect. The whole, pass through a portal and cope without your ability thing gets a bit repetitious after a while.
Yeah, I got a bit fed up retracing my steps for the millionth time.. eventually I found where I was supposed to be. I think the game tends to rely on good memory. Which I definitely don't have..
that's just metroidvanias for you. but you have a task list in your menu at all times and theres a❕symbol on areas that has something you should be looking for in order to progress

@@ghostrunnerco6791 lol maybe. I think if I recall if you play this on a large TV you might experience lag. By that, I mean a delay in you pressing a button and that action happening on the TV. I'd always recommend playing on smaller tvs or a monitor
You do you, but I don't think that's a good long-term strategy. I actually ended up not watching most of it because there are no timestamps - sometimes people wanna skip over parts of the video they don't find interesting.
@@moonlander9012simply drag the video progress marker along the timeline to check ahead through the video. Not exactly a big deal without time stamps, is it? Or is that too much effort for your generation? ❄️

Goodboy Galaxy is the game of the year on Evercade for me: it has style, gameplay and personality. The biggest surprise also.
Just wish it would've been more clear where to go next. That frustrated me a bit.

Not a bad top 10, I'm not sure Duke Nukem 1 would be mine tbh.
Any of the top 4 could be best game really. Though Duke 1 I've played the most and enjoyed the most.

Goodboy Galaxy is #1 by a mile IMO
Tapeworm and also Flea! are top tier Evercade games.
Good Boy Galaxy is so good, but it does get frustrating figuring out where the game wants me to go next.
