    Went for the a7cii over the x100vi- once I let the initial hype for the fuji camera settle down a bit, I was able to make a cooler, objective decision (though, it hurt the wallet a bit more!)

      @@MiguelQuilesJr Yup! Going for it as I only use my cameras professionally, less than a hobby nowadays. I think Sony should really consider offering only stacked sensors with their A7 lineup for better readout, with A1 having the new 2-layer transistor tech and stacked that rivals A7SIII low light performance at high ISO.

    I feel like the people who compare the X100VI with an interchangeable lens camera don’t get why people love the X100VI. No offense is love your videos, but as some one who owns a Sony A7IV and a X100VI I don’t get the comparison. This feels more like a commercial for Sony.

      Believe it or not, I totally get why people buy it. If you put a chart together with those reasons, I think you'll find there is more overlap with this camera and it's more practical in the long run.

    • @riotrob
      @riotrob 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@MiguelQuilesJryes, more practical, but one important reason is “desire to use it to take photos” and sadly Sony is missing that. Like you said with the a6700: you’re not going to use it unless you’re forced to use it.

      Ricardo - you can get a small compact lens that will give you the same exact size. But way more beneficially, having the ability to grow with the camera and purchase over 100 types of lenses is by far a better choice

    • @ricardodurand422
      @ricardodurand422 6 месяцев назад

      But that’s the thing, most people who love the Fuji X100 series, are people who already have an interchangeable lens camera, that want a small compact camera that shoots great quality photos, but that they don’t have to think about what lens to grab, some of us even like the limitations having a fix lens because you have to get creative and you also have the ability to shoot in JPEG with out having to do much editing later on (because of the Fuji recipes) or shoot raw. It’s a completely different experience (at least for me).

    Yeah i can totally understand that. I gave the rx 1r2 for a every day carry a try and was disappointed. Most of the time i just put on the 24mm GM on my a7RV and i‘m good with it. But it could be just a bit smaller. I tryed the Leica Q3 and really liked it. But i didn’t wanted to pay the price. I checked some manual Lens options to bring the form factor down and that really helps a lot. With my Voigtländer 40mm F1.2 it is really small and beautiful. But you really need more time for your photos and and can‘t benefit from the great autofocus- for photos it‘s fun once in a while but i definitely prefer aufofocus for video. I came up with an idea, that i‘m going to try. I got the ZV-E1 for a budget price. I‘m using it only for my video work (Never had any overheating issues. I don‘t take long videos). As i‘m only using the EVF usually like 30% of the time. I think i could try this one for photos too. It‘s only got 12 megapixels similar to the a7SIII i used before it, but for a vacation or just to take it to the city could be enough.

      That is all part of photography in my opinion. You can shoot it simply by limiting yourself to a single lens or you can expand your collection and see what those new lenses bring. I like the video but I think you are comparing the wrong cameras with the X100VI with the exception of the A6700. First, the price on the RX1R2 is 3200 dollars. (Which is absurd considering the features today's cameras have.) The A6700 has good video specs but smaller MP's and you'd probably have to buy a 2.8 20mm lens to make it close to the X100VI's focal length and size. The A7CR is like 3000 bucks and you still have to buy a lens so that would make it 3400-3500 bucks. Personally, I feel what seriously gets overlooked more than anything is the SOOC jpeg features that Fuji has created over the years. The recipes for the simulations is another factor with a growing community of people want that look baked in look without processing.

    • @MiguelQuilesJr
      @MiguelQuilesJr  6 месяцев назад

      The recipes for the out of camera JPEGs is a cool feature, but for my workflow it's just as easy for me to apply a VSCO preset before uploading to social if I wanted a film look and it gives far more control. While the A7CR costs more, you're getting a full frame camera with more advanced features, better build quality, and the ability to use better lenses. There are some really nice compact lenses for the Sony system as well if you wanted to use a different focal length. I feel that for what you're getting, $1700 (at retail) plus tax is too much.

    I much rather use my Sony A7cII and Sony's small G lenses 24mm.f.2.8 and 40mm.f.2.5 than a Fuji X100V as the autofocus is extremely better than Fuji's autofocus and I can also change lenses and it is full frame.
    I sometimes also use my two Sony GM prime lenses 35mm.f.1.4 and 50mm.f.1.4 or my Sony G lens 20-70mm.f.4 instead of the Sony GM lens 50mm.f.1.4 depending on what I photographing. When I use these slightly larger lenses it is always with the small grip for the latest Sony A7C cameras.

    Hey Miguel, while watching this video, I had to chuckle. You mentioned the a6700 with a few nice shots and a great model--but then you managed to skip right over it and land with the Sony a7CR & extoll the many benefits of the latter full frame compact size cam. Regarding the plethora of many overheating comments by other reviewers of the a6700, I've noticed that you seem to not have had such problems even though you are based in sunny Florida. That's amazing because one of your fellow Floridians has very distinct comments about the uselessness of the said camera due to the high temps and high humidity of that southern coastal state. So, maybe I'm wondering the best way you've found to be tactful with Japan Inc. is simply to skip over that cam as much as possible--because maybe, just maybe, later on you've also had overheating problems when trying to shoot 4K video with that said cam. My personal way to deal with that whole problem has been in regards to video in apsc format was to just go for broke--the Sony FX30. So my question deals with that, "Why not just go for the one apsc--Super 35mm Sony camera if one wants to shoot video & never have the headaches of the a6700--simply invest in the Sony FX30?" 😎😎

    • @MiguelQuilesJr
      @MiguelQuilesJr  2 месяца назад +1

      When I originally purchased the a6700 the a7CR wasn't out. I'm a full-frame guy, so naturally when I can get an a6700-type camera with a full frame sensor then that's going to be more my fancy. As for overheating on the a6700, I use the camera as my webcam for livestreaming at my studio and have filmed several RUclips videos and never had an issue with overheating, even in Florida. I'm not saying it doesn't happen to others, but in the time I've owned it and the many hours I've put on it, it hasn't overheated once. Its likely that others are using different settings (such as sunny monitor) that causes that to happen, but as I have used it I haven't run into the issue. As for picking the FX30 over the a6700, it's two different cameras for two different use cases. If you want a hybrid camera that has a mechanical shutter with the more advanced focus system, then a6700 is a no-brainer to me. If you want a more video-focused camera that you might occasionally use to take a photo or two and the budget allows ($500 more) then that would be a good choice. This would be an entirely separate video though, as I wasn't talking about a walk-around camera for video, hence why I didn't mention all of that. The a7CR is my walk-around camera for stills mainly, and for video whenever I don't have one of my other cameras handy. Maybe I'll make an a6700 vs FX30 video in the near future.

    Very nice! I was pleasantly surprised by the A6400 to A6700 family. Originally purchased 4 years ago solely for video. Being able to shoot 4K with no overheating and no time-limit was an immediate winner. The facial rec and follow-me features blew me away. Over time, I found myself making it my EDC as well. Honestly didn't think I'd be back to an APS-C for photos, but when I used it for photography it did such a great job!
    My Sony A99-II's are my go-to's, for studio work and anything I'm being hired for. To your point, the suite of pro lenses do an amazing job, but they're heavy and large. Pairing the A6700 with a Sony Zeiss 16-70 E-Mount gives me the perfect -- small -- EDC. When I'm on personal travel, this is all I take now.
    Even though the A6700 isn't your EDC anymore, it's great to see others using smaller kits for EDCs -- thanks mate!

    After weeks of research I came to the same conclusion. Funny how I landed here hoping to find an alternative to spending $3-4k on a setup only to be led back to the same camera I want lol. Perfect for my style of shooting (heavy cropping, compact, and the option of using either ff or apsc lens is great). If I had a x100vi I’d probably just keep it because it hits a sweet spot for size/capabilities/value/style (and i need ibis/mp), but I found when traveling abroad with a x100v I don’t care about the film sims, and dont want to draw attention to a camera. When I show folks back home some far off land, I want to convey what it was like to be there, that these are real places with real people - not some nostalgia drenched cinematic film grain color filter. However, when traveling local I did enjoy the x100v film sims - it makes familiar places fun to look at again haha 😅
