As a child and into adulthood I have always loved the church bells. Makes me sad that most all are now recordings or no bells at all. Wonderful story JD! My Daddy would have loved these stories.
Your channel is a breath of fresh air...i grew up along the potomac...the names of all the roads...Mt Ephraim...zion...Mt nebo...with little churches sprinkled all around....keep this all alive...
Oh Happy Day indeed!! What a great story of Faith & tenacity! I haven’t heard those old songs for a long time. I volunteer at an assisted living facility here in my town. I sing Christian songs and talk about Jesus! Well done JD & Sarah!! Blessings always! 😊🙏✝️
I loved Revival, when I was a little girl. We always had it at night, so all the men could come, after supper, but also because SW Alabama is very warm, during the day. When the sun went down, though, it was cool enough to sit outside, till 10 PM, even sleep out in the barn. I don't believe Methodist's ever came, and I kept quiet that the songs were all the same, as were the sermons. At least, I never heard too much difference, Protestants seemed the same, to me. I never thought forward , as I walked through the silent graves, that one day, very soon, the people I thought would be with me until I was grown, would be lying there too.
Wonderful story JD! The music was fantastic! I could see it all happening in my mind. Thank you so much! I can’t wait until your book arrives! God bless you! From Canadice NY ❤
every time I see footage of Appalachia I love them trees.... the show Moonshiners the same I love those drone tree shots from about.... gives me hope seeing lots of different trees just growing.... please's he soul you might say.... we don't have that in Ireland any more... or that much of it maybe a better way of putting it.
Seeing all the people there reminded me of the old timey revivals where they may go on all day long. People didn’t set watching their time pieces then like they do now. Being seen by others at the revival and going home is all I see nowadays.
Some people never learned, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." Yes, there are bullies in Churches also. Bells, lights, and/or clocks in staples usually don't hold up well around here because of lighting. Some have installed speakers and play canned bells music. I was a small child when Daddy took my sister, brothers, and I to watch men installing a used staple on top of the Church of God in town (with the first crane we had ever seen). When the congregation grew too big for the building, a new building was built behind the old Walmart store. The old building was sold to the Hospital which turned it into the Cancer Treatment Center. I don't know when it was done; but, that secondhand staple is now on top of the Tabernacle. That's a good staple; because, I don't think lighting has ever hit it. I would have loved to have watched that staple being installed on top of its third church. Thank you for this wonderful story.
Maybe you should think about making a second channel to tell stories from all over. Not just Appalachian stories. Well this is just something I thought you would want to think about. Have a good day.
