My father was a butcher in a local grocery store. He made the sausage that the store sold. He always made a special batch that would burn the fire out of your mouth. That batch would always sell out first. He also made a deviled ham salad. I would give a year of my life if I could have that ham and sausage that my father made. The crap they make today should be illegal. :)
Made me think of the corner store where I grew up some fifty plus years ago and the owner also the butcher that him and I would make small batches of sausage that had that special kick ummm
I need to share this story with my husband! He and his dad plant some HOT peppers every season. No one in the family can eat them but my husband and his dad!
Great story! My husband and I are both laughing. Which is a good thing since he’s been fussing and fuming tinkering with his ‘63 tractor all day. Thanks! ❤😊
This was a great story! My mom was born in a log cabin in Kentucky in1929 and although both parents passed away when she and her siblings were little, she had a few stories similar to something like this.
JD what a fantastic funny story. You really had me laughing out loud. Laughter is so good for the soul and your general well being. I loved this one. You have quite the best imagination ever! I’m so surprised the children could contain their laughter Thank you.
This morning's story has me grinning from ear to ear, JD, poor old Pa! I like my peppers crying hot too, friend. Take care and I'll see ya on the next one!
The green beans dried on a string, took me back to my younger days. I had them prepared in Virginia when I was visiting. Dried beans with the dry hulls cooked up like soup beans. It sounded awful to me but to my surprise I loved them! So I went on to put them up myself after that.
This reminds me of sausages that my grandparents obtained. I was about 10. The sausages were homemade and my grandmother served them with soft boiled eggs. Those sausages were the best I had ever eaten. I am 62 now. To this day I havent eaten that good of sausages. Such a good memory.
Thank you, JD. I needed a good laugh. This story reminded me of the time daddy had my oldest sister helping him plant watermelon seeds.she grew tired of working in the hot sun ,so she poured the rest of the seeds in an old stumphole near the end of the garden ,needless to say it didn't take daddy long to figure out why there were only a few watermelon plants that came up in the field. God bless.
Hi JD! What a hilarious story, got a good laugh from it. If we had done something like that when we were kids, we wouldn’t have been able to sit for a week. Thanks for the funny story, I really enjoyed it. Have a blessed day!
Poor Fella😂. The Good Lord must of known how angry he was, cause as the story goes, he wasn’t cursing and kicking’ up dirt😂😂. Another good one JD. Thanks
OMG!!!! Spot ON! My Mom's garden 2023..Jalapeño's MILD AF(forgive the vulgarity)! Father planted them this year,Yep a mild tempered feller. She,Mom, even sent him to the store to buy peppers, for Salsa...=Mild AF? Walmart he went. Sent to Kroger's too. Even Piggly Wiggly, Kena,WV area...all MILD AF? Charleston, West Virginia...Ripley,West Virginia...Spencer, too! 🤣🤣 ALL JALAPENOS were mild af? MANDELA Effect????? 🤣🤣 Yep...Pa is a Mellow Feller...but this was weird AF😍😍AF= Appalachian Fathers
@@theappalachiachannel pepper buying lolo all he found were same.beyond mild. Green Bell pepper were warmer than the Jalapeños I showed her this...we are gonna get em this year😍😍🤣🤣
I'm just sitting here, lmao. Thinking of my inability to grow good peppers lately. Perhaps I need that Witch Woman's advice. I'll go after I start laughing. 😂❤
My dad came up with a garden plan one year that involved each one of us planting seeds when we got home from work or school. We laid the rows out at one time and he laid the seeds out. We could choose whatever we wanted to mess with. It didn't matter what because the plan was that there was a brick to mark your stopping point and the next person started from there. He kept saying, "Make sure you move that brick." As time passed and things were coming up, neighbors would stop to check on the garden as neighbors do and everything looked good until you got to a place near the center. There was about half a row where plants were all jumbled up. People would ask each of us what we planted and we would show them and tell them about the garden plan. Then they would ask who planted that mess in the center and we would tell them---daddy and that is soup. He hadn't moved the brick.
i remember grandpa telling me that if you plant peppers when you are mad they will be hot. i didnt beleive him till i plant sweet banana peppers when i was mad and they came out hot.
My Granddad was born high in the mountains of Yancey County in a log cabin inn1900. He was a quiet man...I guess that was why my spitfire of a Mamaw always planted the pepper plants😂😂
Oh the memories.... My daddy and his brothers would slaughter a hog every winter and use my daddy's home grown peppers to season the sausage. It was just hot enough to burn but not so hot that you couldn't eat it. Haven't had that sausage in years but in my mind I can still see mama standing at the stove cooking that fresh sausage and smell it cooking. The sausage we put up was good but nothing comes close to that fresh, just ground and cased up/ pattied sausage. Thanks for posting this story.
One of the things that my uncles and father liked was to take fresh hot peppers and fry them in olive oil (I’m Puerto Rican) and how those men love it I would only eat the first fried and it was not fully ripe, and to eat with cheese . The oil was saved and any left over peppers used as hot sauce.
That was a cute story,,, Every year I grow jalapeno peppers they start out green then become a blue black.Pretty soon they all turn red and have a sugar in the flesh. I cut the green end off and split them, dry them and then smoke them. After that I make a hot sauce and grind the rest of them and stick them in jars.My friends just love them and if they are too hot I just cut them with paprika.
Man ol man, I sure hope my wife doesn't watch this video, LMAO!! Thanks for sharing JD, i love all your videos. By the way ,im Bobby from Lafayette TN. Keep those videos coming. !!

I know pa's pain. My neighbor and I both planted habenaros from the same seed pack. His were bright and fire hot, mine not so much.😅

JD hello good morning
Hello 👋

Then they would ask who planted that mess in the center and we would tell them---daddy and that is soup. He hadn't moved the brick.
Now that's as tall a tale as I've ever heard.😄😄😄😄
