  • Timothy Piazza’s parents, Jim and Evelyn, and his brother, Mike, sit down with TODAY’s Matt Lauer for an emotional interview about the 19-year-old Penn State student’s tragic death, apparently due to a fraternity hazing incident. “They basically treated our son as road kill and a rag doll,” Jim Piazza says.

How hard is it to pick up the phone and dial 911, 3 year olds have even done it.

As a former Penn State graduate, I'm utterly disappointed, disgusted, and appalled of how the university officials handled this case. I'm so deeply sorry for this tragedy and for the family that has to go through this pain. Perhaps, Mr. Baron should shut all of the fraternities and sororities at Penn State. The Penn State Greek community nurtured an environment so permissive of excessive drinking and hazing that it emboldened its members to repeatedly act with reckless disregard to human life.

Um, that boy drank all on his own. Nobody forced alcohol down his throat. How about personal responsibility? Im assuming he was underage, and knew that underage drinkingnis illegal, and that drinking too much regardless of age can be dangerous. If he was too stupid to know better, maybe he shouldnt have been at that college to begin with. No sympathy

I think any organization that gets one count of proven hazing, that organization should be immediately and completely banned from campus. One single hazing incident. Zero tolerance. Hazing doesn’t just happen in fraternities and sororities, so just banning them won’t stop hazing. But universities just want that sweet, sweet dollar. They don’t care about the students, so they don’t do anything until someone dies, then they do the bare minimum.

@@daniellebenfield95 I agree that the boy should've known better and should've not been so careless but I think the blame should be shared with both the boy and the people who did the hazing. This type of excessive hazing needs to stop and the boy should've been more wary.

It was supposed to be "hazing and alcohol free paternity" tired of lies fed to people by these types. It's disgusting. And the poor family that has to live without their son! They were negligent for leaving him there for 12 hours. I'm angry 😡 for this family!

This shows the mentality of some athletes when they go from high school to college-throw the book at them because obviously their parents never did!

Im not against greek life. I myself want to be part of it when I get to college next year. Hearing about this makes me more aware of how dangerous it can be to drink to much. I feel like parents should have a conversation with their kids about partying and drinking because its sadly something that happens. Fraternities are more likely to have incidents like this because there is no rule on wether they are allowed to party or not. Sororities on the other hand do have a "no party" rule.

My heart goes out to him and his family. But he should of known what he was getting himself into. If I was in his shoe's I would of said no and walked out and never spoke to them ever again. You should never have to drink four big cups of liquor to feel excepted. That's nonsense. R.I.P to him.
