the white album was what made me realize these guys were NOT just the fab 4. but as close to musical gods as humans can be.
This is why I have a strong and clear opinion about The Beatles - they are the best band in music history. Probably not the most records seller band but definitely their creativeness, the way they made music, put them on the top of all time, at least in my top. How lucky we were those 4 genius made a band

Almost every other band would have a constant drum pattern, but not The Beatles. That's exactly why I've always liked them. They know how to wring every emotion perfectly.
George Harrison has been quoted as saying he wrote this song as an expression of happiness for finding God.
You know I thought of God's reply to George: 'George why don't you get off those drugs and find happpiness with your self instead of attempting to spend your life trying to find yourself when you are not there due to always being else where on junk thinking you lost me when really it was yourself who you lost'.
I was 12 yrs old it was Christmas morning 1968 when I first heard this song.
The ending of 'Long, Long, Long' was a fortuitous accident, as George Martin's assistant Chris Thomas later recalled. There's a sound near the end of the song which is a bottle of Blue Nun wine rattling away on top of a Leslie speaker cabinet. It just happened. Paul hit a certain note and the bottle started vibrating.

No one explored song dynamics like the Fab 4. You could never say the Beatles sounded redundant. 200+ written pieces of music and they were all unique. They were a true phenomenon.

Lennon isn't on this track. Just George, Paul, and Ringo. No sitar either - that's just acoustic guitar. I thought it was mellotron also but apparently it was a Hammond organ pumped through a Leslie speaker, which creates such an eerie sound. One of my favorites of theirs.

Like you I've only recently discovered much of the Beatles' output, having grown up only with the hits that made it onto the radio in the 1960's. I've been amazed by Harrison's contributions in their later years. His spiritual awakening in 1967/8 seems to have raised him to a higher level, which continued into his solo work. Long, Long, Long is profound - it is now one of my favourites.

The song that you reacted to is the 2009 Remastered version which you can hear the hissing sound from the master tapes very clearly! The original one sounds almost quiet (I mean the hissing sounds, lol). There's also a 2018 version but sound it's a little more higher than expected, two editions were released : Deluxe and Super Deluxe Edition!
I got the White Album when I was just stationed at Ellsworth AFB So. Dak. Dec. 1968. Rocky Raccoon singing about "Black Mountain Hills of Dakota" when I could look out the barracks window and see them. I was 19.

Many years ago, I was listening to Long Long Long with friends in one of their attic bedrooms. Not gonna lie. We were totally mashed on grass and lying around on the floor. His dad came into the room just as the wail started. He looked around at the desolation of his son's friend group, shook his head sadly, turned and walked out.

When I was a child in the 70s I wasn't too impressed by the song and considered it a let down but since then it has grown on me.
George Harrison said that rattle was made by a paper cup that was left sitting on top of a monitor and started vibrating. They decided to leave it in. I miss those guys so much.
