- Luke Holland, 21 years old! I'm from Peoria, Arizona. This is one of those songs I first heard & instantly thought to myself, "I have to cover this song." I haven't done a remix in awhile, hope you guys enjoy it!

Matt Chase I cant listen to anything but his cover of the songs like for Ain't it Fun, Where are you now, or Bittersweet. It's amazing with the drums. I'm in love. I want this on Itunes.

Don't get me wrong, Luke is a GREAT metal drummer, but I think covers like this are his best work. He's good in a metal band, but I think if he was a drummer for a pop/punk, pop, or alternative band, he'd be the best ever. If he was in a Blink-182 type band, we'd be saying, "Travis who?" Call me crazy, say it's below his talent level if you want, but I think his natural ability to write and play these grooves and set the rhythm with more than just blast beats and paradiddles that get hidden behind overpowering guitars and vocals is just superior to anything he'll ever do where he's at.

I would agree. But I feel Luke isn't in a metal band that would make use of his skill. If he were in a band like TesseracT or Periphery or some type of progressive band his skill would be more shown off. Where as his stuff in The Word Alive isn't bad. It just seems like He is Downplaying so he doesn't out shine the group. Honestly He is an amazing Drummer period. And if he enjoys Playing with TWA and writing with them who are we to say anything. Though i feel if he joined a type of band that you suggested people wouldn't appreciate it.
I would like to concur, I love seeing him do these. he'd rocket to fame if he were in a Blink 182 style band, or even a Linkin Park type band.
Couldn't agree more. I always said TWA isn't where he belongs, although their music is great. Luke is such a versatile drummer, and that's an understatement. The metal/hardcore genre doesn't show people what Luke is capable of.
agreed. TWA limits him, but i feel like he has a lot more potential in TWA as well.

i'm usually one of the viewers that just sits around waiting for something in the AAL/TesseracT etc. realm of covers, but this video is one of my all time favorites. the drumming is perfect for the song without going too over the top, and it's done flawlessly

Luke's sleeve is looking sick. The mix on this remix is probably one of the best on an Ellie Goulding drum remix.
The playing in this one feels so much more grown up in a way. Its not just outrageous linear fills and double kick bursts, its just pocket and groove all the way through. This one really felt like a good cover as well as sounding great!
I love seeing how your style has been moving away from stick tricks and has been focused on rudiments and complex rhythms. It definitely shows how much your looking to check out and try new things and not just play metal like how some critics stereotype you.

Thus far, this is your best remix to date. The drum sound is there (undoubtedly due to better heads and Cameron's studio work), the creativity is there, the dynamics are there. Everything that makes a creative remix of a song is simply there. Great job, Luke Holland. Keep it up. I can't wait to see the next round of videos.
