I love that you are helping someone else, even though your home isn’t always spotless. A good reminder to me that I don’t need to wait until my house is perfect to help others in need!
My cousin comes over and has helped me several times to declutter, organize a paint,. She doesn't judge because she really enjoys helping me. She also helps her daughter in law. I need her motivation and decisions about organizing. I appreciate her soooo much.
Today I ate 2 healthy meals so far, showered, did the shopping and cleaned my kitchen. Now I’m resting and going to paint 🎨 I don’t normally ask for prayers but I have called a meeting with my health care providers because I’m not getting the care I need. I’ve come up with my own recovery protocol and I am praying they are willing to help me with it because I’m really overwhelmed doing it alone.
@@LeafLikeOnATree thanks so much 😊 It’s so hard to admit I have needs 😬 I love your videos, they are so realistic and I often clean along with you! Blessings 💜
I stand up the foil and cling wrap rolls in a bin on the floor of the pantry. It accommodates the flat sheet boxes of wax paper and parchment paper, too. I’ve found it fast and easy to keep neat that way. You did a great job on that pantry and “bosom buddies” cracked me up 😂
I think one of the biggest reasons I tend to not let people help me clean when my house gets overwhelming, is that if I do, all the feelings of shame and guilt are just amplified. It’s like every negative feeling you have about your current state of living just gets magnified to the nth degree. And I don’t want to feel those feelings as it is, much less multiply it when someone is there seeing it all up close. So I’d always much rather do it myself. But when I see another person’s mess and someone like you with a good heart, helping them, I feel nothing but joy. I never ever judge anyone for any mess they’re dealing with, but I judge myself harshly. It weird how that works.
The most satisfying part is watching you write the labels. You have such pretty handwriting! Thanks to you and your loved one for this video! Great job!
I love love love your RUclips videos!!! I laughed when all the foil & plastic wrap came tumbling down. 😂 you are so fun!! I would love to meet you in person! Have a beautiful day! ❤
For me the hard part about accepting help is the lack of control. I am terrible at delegating. Something that I really want to work on because it's a vicious cycle. I feel overwhelmed by the amount on my plate. But then the thought of handing something off to another person makes me feel overwhelmed too. So I don't and then my plate just stays too full.
Your question about asking for help...I just don't like people to think I am weak or can't handle something. As I get older (almost 40 with 7 kiddos ) I do find it easier to let go of that and ask for help so I am not so overwhelmed.
I've done organization in pantries for two friends. I love it. So satisfying. I have asked for help, but the people I've asked weren't willing. Everyone is so busy and not many really understand my need to pare down as I get older. There are also a lot of areas where no one is really going to understand what I do and don't need, so the decisions have to be made by me.
It's always more fun to organize other people's stuff than our own. 😂 I was over at my friend's house and I did one of our cabinets and she's like we should do a whole kitchen I was like yeah that would be awesome but I haven't gotten back over there yet. 😂 She too is a chronic overthinker. It was good times. I basically just consolidated things together. Nothing groundbreaking. Sometimes a fresh pair of non jugmental eyes makes a big difference. ❤
I keep wrap and ziplocks in a drawer. I love it. I gallon size ones don't fit I just shove those on my crockpot which is stored on a lazy Susan next to it.
Beautiful job! Embarrassment is my excuse for asking for help. People think of me as a 70 year old energizer bunny. But there are times I can't think how is best to organize something or I physically run out of gas. My daughter is my go to. ❤
I just found your channel. New subscriber 🥰 I love not only your solutions but you also address the psychological mindset that people may be experiencing! Well done! ❤
I don’t think I’ve ever taken everything out. Well I have done it with larger items in closets etc. but in those cases I went in with a plan from the beginning. We’re apparently decluttering our shed tomorrow 🙀 it’s going to be great to use that space the way we want and need, it’s sort of a dump at the moment. You did a great job with your loved ones party, well done! Love your sense of humour!
Looks great! Always more fun to work on a project with a friend! Everyone should do it. And for anyone who is thinking about doing it always come to somebody's space without any judgment with you. It's really hard for people who are naturally messy to have someone in their space. Chances are that person is already beating up their self enough. And for those of you who want to ask for help help that friend that isn't it judgmental person that says all kinds of nice things about everybody. Someone who will. Be a cheerleader for you.
The nuts and rice etc could be put into used jars with lids that have been washed. You could have some nice looking baskets on the bottom to store your vinegars and other heavy larger products
For our foil and saran wrap, I bought two cardboard file holders from the Dollar tree and attach them to the inside of two of my cabinet doors. It works out perfectly! And I have my gallon Ziploc bags down there and just rip off a side so I can pull the bags out the side. It's held up for almost 2 years now.
To your friend thanks for letting her film! Great video! I am excited for her to have it function better for her!!!! Wish I could have joined the pantry party in person but this will have to do!
Fantastic job!!!! I bet your loved one is thrilled! I love the no mess method. I’m overwelmed easily so it’s definitely a no go to pull everything out. Today I’m painting the ceiling in my bedroom so I can put the new light up and set up my new bed. Figured I wouldn’t be able to move the new bed by myself so better to paint now. (Ugh I hate painting. Ask me how long I’ve been putting this off!) Enjoy your visit time. So happy you are feeling better!!! Love that sweet smile of yours! Hugs em ❤❤❤❤❤
Please keep my youngest daughter in your prayers. She is 33 and just diagnosed with diverticulitis. She hasn't been able to eat anything with gluten since having Covid. She has 3 little boys, 2 of which are autistic. I need you to come organize my pantry lol. Great job!
I put my foil, press & seal, and parchment paper rolls on circular plastic dowels In my pantry that way I don't have to open a box, waste a drawer or wonder how much inventory I have... next to my inventory I have a pair of scissors on a command hook so that I can grab the amount I need. Hi Shannon! You are awesome! I am sure she really appreciated your help on the pantry. You look very happy. :) When I've asked for help in the past, they have kinda shamed me for even needing help, so I don't ask anymore. Now my pantry looks nice. I'm retired so I have the time to organize it myself. Thanks for sharing her pantry with us! 💜💜💜
@@LeafLikeOnATree The only ones tjhat helped and didn't say anything about the stuff was my realtor when I sold my place and before I moved out. they took many loads away.
Hi Shannon..I would love for you to be praying for us. My husband has been serving as interim pastor for a year and the board will be presenting him to the church on Sept 10 to be their full time regular pastor. We have been praying for a church since he graduated from Liberty University in 2008.
When my dad moved in his current home I kind of put things where they fit and made „kind of sence“, and sure enough they stayed this way over the last years 😂 I learned a lot since then, and just last week I decluttered and moved around everything. He would like to have a new kitchen and now I know what he has and feel ready to plan it for him. I love him a lot and am so very happy to be able to care and make his life a little nicer and easier this way ☺️ And sure, my own place would need this too 😂 But I totally agree that it’s way easier to do some work for someone else. I like doing it anyways to take the experience and momentum over to my own stuff 😃 Works! But ideally one should have a little group of people and move around each others homes to complete tasks 😂 So Shannon, if you ever come to Germany, feel free to contact me 😬 Here is a kitchen that needs some attention, and a basement too. Sure you can film both! And if life ever brings me to the United States I’ll give you a sign, and maybe the playroom or homeschool area is waiting for me 😃 I guess I’ll take my funny thoughts as motivation and go down to the basement and find something to throw out or give away immediately. Thanks for the motivation girl 💜
Well done! And, yes, it looked like fun! I have so much organizing to do. Each thing I tackle just makes me feel so very good! Old costume jewelry and sock drawers, top of my list!
The pantry looks great! What a fulfilling way to spend some time - tackling a project along with laughs and good conversation. Your videos are always inspiring! I'm sure your loved will think fondly of you each time she uses her pantry. :)
I watched this almost right after you posted it, then I went around and tidied my house then I went into my kitchen and started on the top shelf of my pantry. Now it's all much better organized just using what we had. I just need to find a better spot for my empty airtight dry food storage containers after they come out of the dishwasher. The pantry floor was apparently a terrible idea. 😂
I love your videos and reading through the comments of your viewers. Everyone is so positive and has some great ideas or just uplifting things to say. It’s nice to know there are such kind people out there somewhere. 😊 this made me reconsider organizing my own pantry. I need to NOT pull everything out and get paralyzed like you mentioned and do it this way. Thank you for the different approach. ❤
I put my foil etc. In a magazine folder, the one that is higher on one side than the other and is long and skinny enough to put two boxes side by side.
I have my plastic bags and rolls of foil, plastic wrap and wax paper ( tell me you're old without telling me your age, lol) in a drawer. I cut the cardboard container down a little to fit in the drawer nicely. I then put 2 rubber bands around the box so the bags don't slide out. Works for me. It's so great to see you doing well. Glad you were able to spend time with a friend who makes you laugh! Take care, Linda 🦋
Great question! I think sometimes when I’m down and struggling it’s easy to believe I’m not worthy of a friend’s help because maybe I haven’t been that good of a friend , keeping in touch, checking in on them, so why should they do that for me suddenly?
This weekend I'm rearranging my bedroom because it was super messy this past weekend, but I knew where everything was. Then my cleaning service came in and decided to put everything away in their own version of organizing (without permission). I appreciate the effort, but now I don't know where anything is. It took me two days to find my shoes. 🤦♀ So this weekend will be spent pulling everything back out and putting it away where it's actually supposed to go.
Hi Shannon funnily enough I have been doing exactly that cleaning and organising my dear friends kitchen . I am their cleaner and am luckily enough to be house sitting for them, they have a lot on their plates she is suffering from dementia and he is her carer so he never gets time to do the extra chores, you are so right it is awesome doing for someone else, so rewarding. Love your videos.❤
I still clean if people say they are coming over, unless immediate family. Of course friends or others are invited in if they knock even if it's not as tidy as I'd like. I figure they'll just see me "keeping it real". I often won't ask for help for fear of judgement or comparison from others. As a mum I think it's tough not to compare even if we say nothing. Awesome job with the pantry. So lovely for you to help them. It's so much easier to know what you have. Bless you xx
This was so satisfying to watch !! Love it very much ,this will be my next thing to do when we will have our new kitchen instal in a month or so .have a nice day !!
Oh my word! So so satisfying! I loved loved loved the after - a job well done! Thank you to your loved one for allowing us all in to see the organisation. No, this is not the worst we've seen, yes, we've mostly all been there - I certainly have. I call it the wearing from the washing basket phase - where you only wear what goes into the basket and gets washed, because you can't deal with your actual wardrobe without everything falling down on you and being overwhelmed. This is just the same with a pantry where you go out and buy what you plan to eat from the supermarket that day, because you look into the pantry and honestly can't figure out what's in there. A friend and I agree, that the best way to keep a valuable item from being stolen if you have a robbery, is to have it strewn about with another pile of stuff - because it just disappears - you don't see the soups or the baking items - you just see an amorphous mess of things and it's so much easier to go to the store - I have been there - and ended up with the five of this and six of that. Thank you again for allowing us to all share 😊
One of my suggestions for those who struggle with pots and pans in their cabinets, get an over t he door hook thing, like for coats, but strong. You can hang them up on the back of a door and easily get to them. :D
Starting my morning during a heatwave watching this and YES, IT IS VERY SATISFYING!!! You did a great job. To switch things up I recently swapped things around in my kitchen and it is very helpful and uplifting. Makes me actually want to do the things I have dreaded beginning in the past. I highly recommend Dana K White's approach for anyone with an abundance of things and people and a shortage of time. It is a good approach when you cannot just take a week off and send everyone on vacation while you stay and do the manual lifting.
You did a fantastic job on that pantry, especially without pulling everything out and making a big project bigger. I like the labels, so everyone knows where to put things back. I’ve used similar labels, but they would fall off, so finally I put a piece of tape on the back to hold the clip in place. Shannon, you are the best, sorry the go-pro was a fail, but it was funny. I am bigger than I’d like to be, and I am not sure I would be so brave, or even know where the thing was pointing. You are the best. You always make me feel good watching. 🌻🌻🌻
VERY satisfying!! It was also fun watching you write out the labels. You got all the letters centered and spelled correctly the first time! Great job👏🏻😘😘
Way to go Shannon. It looks awesome. I can see why she was so happy with the results. You got me motivated. Hope i can keep it up and actually get something done today. Good fo see you having a good day. Will pray for many, many more. God Bless!
In case you want to know what I have done to get to this point that I am at with one roll each of plastic wrap, foil, and parchment paper and a dwindling supply of gallon sized freezer baggies: I found zero waste which limits using plastic, then minimizing down to what I imagined I would use helped, using a container (like that magazine holder) helps keeping it available and usable and budget limitations actually help since I just don't buy any of those things (except maybe a box of aluminum foil in the last 10 years). Your mileage may vary. To make these changes I figured out first that I valued the planet and then decided I would do what I could to demonstrate that. That naturally led to reducing my consumption and using up or Giving Away what I had accumulated to that point. Once you know better, try to do better being the motto here. In the intervening years, I have replaced broken or undesirable plastic with glass then stainless steel and a few silicone bags and a silicone baking mat. I also modified my diet towards more frozen and fresh items and less prepackaged and mixes. Nothing says you have to do it that way, but it worked for me.
I laughed out loud when the tower of food wraps fell over, and again when you found the storage rack for it! I. keep my frequently used baggies foil and plastic wrap in a drawer. I keep freezer bags and freezer paper and less frequently used items in the corner of my pantry.
This week has been a bit rough. Hubby needs to fix my car and I didn't achieve as much as I wanted to here and one kid is feeling sick so hopefully that is not a bad one and passes quickly and doesn't spread.
I did this for a family I work for. However, they don't keep it like I had it. It frustrates me each time I open it to prepare food for the 3 kids but I've come to the realization that it is theirs, not mine to keep organized.
Oh my... I wish I had a pantry. Thats why I love watching these videos! I live in Europe and in our house we have tge most important stuff in various small cabinets and the vast majority is in the basement in a makeshift shelf. If I need Pasta, I have to go downstairs. Any canned goods? Not in the kitchen. It is so annoying and if I ever get to plan a brand new kitchen I will make sure to change this. Maybe it works if you're alone, but with a family? Oh no. And of course the food in the kutchen takes the space I would desperately need for bowls or pots. Anything extra? Basement, in a humid room not fit to hold groceries. I really like your mutual aid, you help with the pantry and your loved one helps your channel. That's how we all should do it everyone has something to offer ❤ greetings from Luxembourg 🇱🇺
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I’d appreciate prayers for my health. Was extremely ill a couple months ago, lung function needs to improve and my voice still isn’t the same as before.
We have eliminated all foils and wraps from our household. For baking we use silicon baking mats and we store our leftovers in glass containers with plastic lids. This way we can see what's in the fridge and that has massively reduced food waste because now everything gets eaten. I haven't bought any of those rolls in about 6 years and have not been missing them at all! You never run out of them and save a lot of money - it's a total win win situation!
My zip locks are also in a drawer. I've looked at those organizers but im not sure they'll fit in the drawer I'm using so i haven't tried to buy them yet.

We use a magazine file holder to store foil, and other wraps. Then they stand upright in a base cabinet.
I also prefer to store them that way.
That’s such a great idea! I need to try that. 😊
I use an IKEA magazine older laid on its side so the packages are stacked. I don’t have any tall cabinets.

Its nice to clean other peoples homes sometimes. Its more fun to come along side and help others. Giving really is the real gift.
Absolutely, that was satisfying. DK White's 'no mess' method is great for bigger spaces like that and you did a great job.
Whatever your video I’m here for it ❤
I put my foils and plasticbags in a magazine holder 😅
So satisfying! I love watching your videos. Thank you for doing what you do and sharing your journey. Appreciate you!
So good! Love it! Got some inspiration for my pantry.
This was so satisfying to watch !! Love it very much ,this will be my next thing to do when we will have our new kitchen instal in a month or so .have a nice day !!
Adore those tags
Thanks Shannon. Looks great.
Oooo mama i am in California and you can help me out anytime....lol...mama of 5 and we have real messes😊...it might be your highest video of shock lol
You crack me up… I was dying at “bosom buddy” 😂 Thanks for the organizing inspiration!
I Don’t even know how I did that 😂 it usually takes a few takes
Way to go Shannon. It looks awesome. I can see why she was so happy with the results. You got me motivated. Hope i can keep it up and actually get something done today. Good fo see you having a good day. Will pray for many, many more. God Bless!
Hi Gorgeous!
❤
You're so sweet and funny, I love you!
😄
You’re such a sweet soul! 🥰
Great laugh!
I have a big pantry. Loving it. It's all organized
It does look amazing, great job shannon.
What a gift of love you gave your loved one. Well done!
Thank you loved one for letting us see your pantry get organized 🎉
I dont have siran wrap or foil only unbleached parchment ppr in a wood box otherwise use reuseable bags or covers, saves money & space.
Love your bosom buddy 😅
Looks great and i would much rather clean and organize someone elses house ❤
I laughed out loud when the tower of food wraps fell over, and again when you found the storage rack for it! I. keep my frequently used baggies foil and plastic wrap in a drawer. I keep freezer bags and freezer paper and less frequently used items in the corner of my pantry.
This week has been a bit rough. Hubby needs to fix my car and I didn't achieve as much as I wanted to here and one kid is feeling sick so hopefully that is not a bad one and passes quickly and doesn't spread.
Prayers for you and your family!
I did this for a family I work for. However, they don't keep it like I had it. It frustrates me each time I open it to prepare food for the 3 kids but I've come to the realization that it is theirs, not mine to keep organized.
That’s how I feel about my children’s rooms 😂
You did a great job
LOVE THIS!
You've done a fantastic job
Great job Shannon 🎉🎉🎉
Looks amazing Shannon! ❤
I love Dena, Kaye, Weitz, and her books! They are awesome.
Dana
Great result ❤
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I’d appreciate prayers for my health.
