UCI Mesa Court Towers Tour

Hello! Sorry for the delay in the vlogs. I finally caught up and uploaded all 4 today! I'm taking a short break from the usual vlogs and doing a tour of the Mesa Towers. I showed a little overview of the actual room, bathroom, hallway, common spaces, as well as the fresh amenities here in Mesa Court. I hope you enjoy seeing and getting a feel of what Tower living is like! In addition, I would love to do a couple vlogs on life as a UCI student in specific majors. Vlog takeovers?!?! That would be pretty cool. See you in the next vlog!

I’ll try to make this short.
I graduated from UCI in 2000.
I first stepped foot on campus in the fall of 1995. And it was into Mariposa 1.0, then located at the outer edges of Mesa Court.
A few years after I graduated I learned that Mariposa 1.0 had been torn down and replaced with new buildings, but those new buildings did not keep the old names (Mariposa, Caballo, Playa).
Later, I found out that the old eating commons were being torn down and three towers were to be built.
Today, my wife (whom I met that very first day at Mariposa 1.0) and our kids, met up with some old college friends on campus.
We walked over to Mesa Court to check out the towers. As we walked over, I glanced at one of the Mesa Court maps and I immediately spotted the name “Mariposa.” I was a little confused because I thought it no longer existed. So I’m reading the map trying to orient myself and find where this building labeled “Mariposa” is located. To my great surprise, it’s one of the towers!
It’s beautiful! I’m glad Mesa Court honored those dorms they had torn down years ago, especially Mariposa.
Since we were unable to enter the tower, i wanted to learn more online. That’s how I came across your vlog.
Thank you for doing it. Even though it’s a completely new building, it brought back so many good memories of Mariposa 1.0, Mesa Court, and our college days in general.

Thank you so much for the tour! I've been looking for something more comprehensive like this :) So excited to be attending this fall, fingers crossed for getting towers! If possible, could you explain the different "halls" or "themes" of the towers?
Tysm! Towers are in the "general interest," theme There are three towers each with its unique color: blue, green, and orange. If you're into different themed halls, the Mesa Court classics have more holistic offerings. Super excited for you! :)

Such an amazing and modern residential area!!!! I really hope I get into UCI, UCLA or USC because I love Los Angeles and I’m from Missouri which sucks so I want to live in LA. Plus I love the dodgers.

Hi Josiah, really helpful video! I will be attending UCI this fall and I have 1 questions they are pretty important for me to decide which dorm I would choose
The problem is that I saw that mesa doesn't have an air conditioner. Is the room temp cool in mesa? Cuz I really need nice and cool nighttime. Thx if u can reply to me, thumbs up!

Great video been looking for more on Mesa towers! Was it really that difficult to get the towers because I don’t know any other people that are going to Uci but I really want to live in the towers??
Glad you liked it! 3 out of the 16 rooms in my hall, including mine, are comprised of random so there's still a chance! However, a lot of my high school friends didn't get their initial request of Towers. I would recommend forming your quad through Facebook. Hope this helps! :)

Yes! There should be a Facebook class of 2024 page in which many prospective freshmen post looking for roommates. Congrats on getting into UCI! :)
Are mini fridges allowed in the towers?

Wow the towers look so modern and nice! I just got accepted to UCI a few days ago and i was wondering how hard it is to get a spot in one of the towers?? Like is submitting the housing form early gonna better your chances?
Sahil Tanna Hey Sahil! Yes In addition to having your group of 4 down on the form and your roommates mutually putting you down as well. I know this year Middle Earth Towers had a decent amount of second years so Mesa will also give you a better shot. Congrats on getting to UCI and hope you get it man! :)
Awesome video! Does the office notify you if you receive mail or should you check by yourself?
Ty! Yep the mailroom uses a system that automatically emails you once a package has been processed in
does each tower have the same wardrobe and drawer space, because on the FB page someone posted measurement of everything, but they included some drawers under the bed and don't have the two spaces above the wardrobe?
hi! yeah everyone room has the same storage. I forgot to include that there are drawers under the bed. The two spaces above the wardrobe are limited to the ones near the door. The ones on the opposite end don't have the two spaces and instead have the outlets.
hello! i was told it was hard for incoming freshmen to get towers housing! do you know anyways to heighten your chances for ME or MC towers?
Hello Kayla! Sorry for late reply. As long as you requested your set of roommates, you have a really good chance to get in. Hope you're able to get it!!
Does forming your quad, get you a better chance of getting the Mesa tower? I really want to dorm in a quad.
Towers are high in demand so forming a quad definitely increases your chances!
Josiah Wong did you have a formed quad?
Do you know which dorm has a yoga room or a mirror room nearby? I’m a dancer so it would be really helpful if I lived at a location where a studio or aerobics room was accessible. Thank you!
Hey man! None of the dorms specifically had dance rooms but I know that the older ones had common spaces with mirrored walls. Some of my friends who are dancers go to the ARC (the gym at UCI) and reserve mirrored rooms for practice! Moreover, a few of my hallmates used the reflections from the glass windows in the towers. Hope this helps.
is there a separate rec center for the mesa court dorms aside from the towers?
hello! the fitness center on the bottom floor is the only one for mesa court. however, there is the main rec center all the way in east campus called the ARC that many UCI students frequent
What is the skateboard rules on campus, is it allowed to get to classes and stuff?
hello! based on what i know, transportation has banned use of skateboards in the campus core. UCIPD sometimes enforces these rules on ring road. Cheers!
what are the difference between the three towers? or are they all the same with different color themes
hello! yes they're all the same themed halls just different colors :)
How big are the wardrobes in length, height, and width?
I dont live in the towers anymore so I cant specify but the wardrobes are definately sufficient in storage.
Do you happen to remember which floors have the laundry rooms?
Floors 2,4, & 6

@@miriammunoz6300 6th floor was definitely a lil hot in comparison with the 2nd. However, it should be all good once Daylight savings ends. Excited for u! :)

I can't decide between middle earth and mesa towers 😭
Hey what did you end up picking and what are your thoughts so far?
@@crooshed69420 middle earth, it’s nice being close to my classes. Additionally Im also close to the Anteater Recreational Center and also to the ACC apartments. I walk to those places almost daily and I can’t imagine walking from Mesa 💀 Also Brandywine gives you more food options than Anteatery so that’s a plus! I personally know a stem major who shifted from Mesa to Middle because their classes were too far dor them and I also know of a pol sci major who moved to Middle Earth because it was close to Brandywine, ARC, and the ACC apartments. Honestly no matter where you live, your experience will depend entirely on how you decide to make it. A supporting point for Mesa is that it’s closer to UTC than Middle but not by much.
@@SushiMuncher Is the Anteater Recreational Center the new gym that was built near/for middle earth? Also how do the bathrooms work for middle earth because I heard that mesa people had like their own bathrooms and supposedly that their dorms were a bit bigger.
@@crooshed69420Na that's pippins, it's mid so I go to the ARC which is a 15 min walk from ME. bathroom situation kinda messed up everywhere ngl, mesa court classics have those blurry windows for showers which I absolutely despise 🤮, middle earth classics have curtains.
@@crooshed69420 only people in towers have somewhat of their own bathroom, 8 people share 2 bathrooms whereas in classics your entire floor shares however many stalls you have (usually 3) honestly the stall per person is kinda the same
