So amazing is the flow coming thru you - your willingness & ability to give it voice. So very glad you are speaking out - a fresh breeze midst the off-ness put out by so many. Sure, I scratch my head often enough when taking you in - you offer some really great mind-pretzels that keep that bad boy off to the side, chewing away, enabling oneness with Jane, if you will. Crazy stuff, Rupert! Sheerest deLight! :-D

MC, thank you. Dispassion, yes! It's as tho my secluded, silent, beloved house had been a husband who I've divorced. Now, I can barely breathe in it and the silence screams. Am so glad you've overcome anxiety. Me too, thanks to Rupert. Do you know how your dispassion dissolved? Thanks again.

Albeit, these teachings come to level that there cannot be valid answers anymore and by valid I mean mind is unable to graspe it because of its finite entity.

  • @hgracern

Yes, profound question and, profound as always, answer. Can anyone shed light on why I feel called home increasingly painfully whenever I'm in my house? Seems only since I discovered the teachings, 3yrs ago. V hard to be 'l am' in that once beautiful house. Could it be similar to the loss of engagement with friends? The body's reactions verge on panic just thinking about returning. To move or press on?
Thank you for reading this. Any thoughts v v welcome.

Then what part does prayer play if infinite does not know of our suffering ?

    • @shammiforall
      @shammiforall 11 месяцев назад +1

The prayer is not for the infinite to acknowledge the finite and it's suffering. Rather It is to remove the ignorance in the finite mind with the grace of the infinite thus being in bliss.

So many contradictions in this. How could something infinite which has no limits and all knowing not be able to be aware of the finite which is limited and also born out of its own existence? Another point: on one hand he says infinite consciousness is not aware of the suffering of finite mind, on the other God cares deeply about our suffering and calling us back. He is not answering her questions too

    • @kevinpersia5201
      @kevinpersia5201 4 года назад

There can't be any answer when you ask deeper questions, the peoper answer to this is simply silence, we're finite we camnot understand it by our finite mind but we can access it when we want.

  • @jjjos

Umm this is not a very satisfactory answer, also as much as I value Rupert and his clarity of the teachings, when he talks it is through the finite mind (obviously), and he is talking and saying that the finite mind cannot know the infinite and vice versa, but that contradicts his statement, how would he know then? How would his finite mind know that the infinite mind cannot know the finite mind if his finite mind can’t know the infinite and vice versa, it’s a complete contradiction

    • @jjjos
      @jjjos 5 лет назад +3

Loren Jordan I understand this a lot more now. Any objective knowing is the finite mind. It’s why these teachers can’t describe the infinite as it has no qualities that words can use to describe it. So ‘awareness’ ‘consciousness’ etc are used but these are the finite knowing the finite, as at the point a label is used the infinite has been collapsed into a finite object. The infinite knowing can be known by the simple contemplation of ‘am I aware?’ or ‘what is this me feeling I know so well as me?’ that is eternity and it can be known but not by the finite mind, that is the infinite knowing itself and therefore the finite mind can not describe it, but it also can’t deny it, it just doesn’t know anything about it as it can’t go there. But it is known, that can’t be denied either.

@@jjjos Wait could you explain it to me? I'm a little confused. So I'm infinite awareness that can not know the finite? But I know my finite experience though right?
That being perceptions which has objective. Only can be known by perceiving and it is what makes perceptions. Sound can only be known if heard and sound is just hearing. Doesn't perception experience take place in infinite awareness? Maybe it's infinite knowing itself and not what appears in it? The finite knows itself. But the finite is the same awareness as the infinite just limited, so it can't know it? But then how do....wait I'm just really confused now.

    • @jjjos

MakaniiStorm hi, I think this is a bit unnecessarily confusing. Non duality is not an intellectual exercise and a conceptual understanding is not required, but may help to appease the mind to allow the seeing to take place. My take on it is that infinite consciousness (sometimes called absolute consciousness), is without any objective qualities. Our individual minds can only think of objects, so stands to reason our minds cannot connect directly, we can only talk dualistically with concepts such as ‘space like’ ‘infinite potential’ etc, it’s not possible to describe, so the finite cannot know the infinite, try if you can, to imagine anything that has no qualities, it’s impossible. So all knowing of anything is really the infinite knowing itself, but it is knowing itself through the agency of a limited mind, so infinite consciousness knows itself by itself (deep sleep), and knows itself as an object knowing other objects (everyday finite experience), but never the twain shall meet. But really, all this is a bit intellectually indulgent, and being able to talk conceptually about advaita will not help to actually know it.
I think the best easiest way to get a feel for the infinite is to abide in that essence you call ‘me’. Think of ‘me’, there is only one thing in the world you call ‘me’, you don’t call anyone else ‘me’, you know it’s ‘me’ don’t you, there is an intimate knowing of ‘me’, it’s always the same ‘me’, you remember when you were 10 or 20 or this or that, but that ‘me’ is always the same, that is the infinite, you can’t describe it, as soon as you try you’ve lost it, if that makes any sense, how can you describe that ‘me’ essence, it’s impossible

@@jjjos It could be I am thinking it intellectually. But I don't feel secure, that's why I'm still at it.
If what Rupert's teaching is reality and it will bring happiness and peace, then I'm taking it.
It slips out my mind and I need to research again cause then I'll start feeling like a separate self.
      But thank you.

    • @jjjos

MakaniiStorm yeah tell me about it! All seekers are seeking peace, I find these non dual videos in and of themselves peaceful to watch. The slightly detached awareness does provide a space of peace no doubt about it, a reduction in personal involvement, less reactive, a different perspective, and true glimpses of this peace bring hope. Rupert provides the best clarity, I feel, but is an intellectual. Mooji provides a different angle, but they are all talking about the same thing, the same reality. Stick with it, if you find yourself drawn to this then there is a reason you resonate with it. Check out other teachers too, Tolle, frances Lucille etc to find a match for you, some click better than others. Good luck. Reddit has a sub reddit spirituality forum that may help if you have questions etc, good luck 😉
Remember in essence this is simple stuff, you pay attention to now, that’s it. You stay present, aware of your thoughts, sensations, perceptions, you notice when you drift into thought, if your thoughts are painful you stay with them, present, you watch them, you don’t run from them, you don’t get lost in them, the game is to stay present as much as possible, eventually you can’t deny that you are that presence, that is your true self, the awareness, simple stuff, basically mindfulness, but mindful of everything that arises, thoughts, memories, images, always now, always present.

  • @Zee-pv3hn

Yes infinite can’t know finite, that’s why it assumes finite mind to know finite. So now infinite ignoring its infinite is working on the basis of it being finite and yes it knows the finite as finite but not finite as infinite.

Beautiful discussion Rupert. I thought you (and your followers) may like the poem I wrote about this same subject matter. Perhaps each may reflect on it with your words for some benefit on the journey:
    Finite vs. Infinite
    Beautiful sights
    My eyes love to see
    Vistas and jungles
    And birds flying free
    The flavors I've tasted
    Some bitter, some sweet
    And ears hearing music
    That lifts me to feet
    The loving caresses
    My skin loves to feel
    Which touches and rushes
    And makes this head reel
    Each sense transient
    Not one, long does stay
I find my mind pleading
    "Please don't go away"
    The more I hold on
    Each pleasure slips out
    Shakes up my comfort
    As hear my own shout
    Reminded I am

    For how could it be
    From finite to seek,
An Infinity

Say awareness sees through its manifestation, the character Rupert, a child cut its finger, Rupert would naturally hasten to apply a bandage. Say awareness sees, through its manifested medium Rupert, a human being caught in identification with the imagined separate me, asking for some guidance, in this case, awareness, by means of Rupert, would naturally point to Being (itself). Whilst attending to these matters, the undefined consciousness would still be present. I don't get the point that the undefined awareness has to forget itself for being in the position to assist. Awareness does not need to forget itself to see the dream as a dream, in fact it can only see duality as a dream as awakened consciousness. The dream is seen and 'known' as a dream. 'Awake' Awareness is not incapable of dealing with the dream or even to develop further tools to handle aspects of the dream by means of formulating additional concepts, manifesting skills or advanced relative insights in all areas of science. Please correct me if I miss something.

      Hi Dietrich!
What I understand (and surely it´s a limited understanding) is that one (awareness) can experience oneself as the empty, conscious space of nothing in which everything happens. BUT awareness experiences itself in us, in this finite plane. There´s a light of the infinite in the finite world. There´s a clear vision of truth in this illusory world of objects, that can change the quality in which we experience ourselves, perceive, relate, and move in it, but we still are in this illusory realm, with it´s laws and it´s construction. I think that while we are in this finite plane, even when there´s a light of what we truly are, we are not in the infinite realm. If we were there, there would be nothing to perceive, any suffering, any object. It´s like the room that knows it´s space, and logically guesses that the other rooms are space too, but there are still walls that prevent the room feeling itself as totally, infinite space without any wall... So it can go deep into that quality of space, but with the limitations of the house in which it appears.
Does it make sense for you?
