    Awareness is shinning through, effortlessly, choicelessly transmuting into all the experiencing that floats through it, as it...only known by all the forms it takes... including: attending, seeking, frustration, body-image, stillness, silence (all that it used to confuse itself as itself...) moment by moment by moment...
    So grateful for the ever-so simple distillation of such a liberating teaching. Namaste.

    I am interested, does anyone else hear the Wittgensteinen logic in Rupert's words? I almost never hear anyone relate Wittgenstein to spirituality, but he was the most influential philosopher in the 20th century and he tried to bring the logic from the eastern traditions into the western it seems to me, almost serving both equally, which his peers didn't like. Then again, we all just use different metaphors. I really love the accessible logic from both Rupert and Wittgenstein. Very beautiful. Reducing the resistance into nothing, since it never was there. It was never an object.
    The torch example you gave, in my mind it behaved like this ways: First it would center it self and just stand as a light in the middle, but that wouldn't illuminate everything Or nothing. Then it would try to illuminate everything. There was not enough power. But when it tried to illuminate nothing since nothing is not an object, it would illuminate everything, since if there is nothing to illuminate, "everything" is the logical(?) step after nothing, and it would spread evenly across the room and everything would be visible. It almost feels like a bug for me. When you focus at nothing, everything comes into focus. It's quite entertaining and terrible, sickening, exhaustively beautiful.

      I read 1/4th of Wittgenstein's PI before getting on this path, and it primed me super hard. It very clear with PI that language is a miracle and merely an approximation - it points to nothing substantial. These ideas only happen to work (insofar as they do)... so what really is there?

      If you're anything like me, I really ended up needing deeper explanations than what I could get from this kind of neutral meditative explorative approach.
      The essence-energies distinction found in Christian Orthodoxy has helped me out a ton.

    How is it possible to be aware of being aware?
    I mean the sensation of the body is unescapable so how can you be aware of being aware when the feeling of body is an object that cant be ignored? It automatically arises with the feeling of I...
    Even if I can be aware of it as something within awareness the sensation of the body cant be shut off.
    So how can awareness watch itself without being objectless?

    • @robmaric
      @robmaric 5 лет назад

      Jake Lerms objects are objects. Thoughts, sounds, inner body sensations, they are all just objects. Rupert sometimes points out there is no line between your “inner” body and the outside world. We are only interested in awareness. The nature of the object bodily or not makes no difference and upon closer inspection this becomes more obvious

I’m noticing that after being in a space of awareness, there’s this jump up into the mind, and it feels really scary. Is this a normal reaction of the ego? Wondered how I can ease this intense reaction and discomfort. Thank you 😊

    It’s hard to comprehend the idea of sinking into the “directionalist point of awareness” when you were born in the hustle culture mind frame of USofA and you were intravenously fed the mandate that, here, we, know our direction and should be actively walking towards it.

      The idea here is to eliminate the Abrahamic or Judeo-Christian idea of a separate God whom we may only Atone with. The fall of man or original sin etc. An idea like...God is not in nature, man, God, nature are absolute different things.

    • @robmaric

      You have to keep doing it. Notice the sensation of the headache. Are you aware of it? Notice the sensation of your neck. Are you aware of it? Notice outside sounds. Are you aware of them? Notice the common factor they all share: awareness. Keep going back to that feeling of awareness over and over. ATTENTION = Awareness + Object. When the attention sinks to the heart of our being the object dissolves like a moth on fire. Because consciousness has two qualities 1. It shines objects at a distance.
    2. It destroys objects (thoughts) on CONTACT.
