One of GnRs most underrated songs
It's pretty well rated, Bruz. It's just they have so many slammin' 11/10 Rock songs that they all can't be he number 1 chart singles at once..! Think of how many killer tracks that came out a the same time, from UYI 1+2.
*Knockin on Heaven's Door, You Could Be Mine, Don't Cry, Live and Let Die, November Rain, Estranged, Garden of Eden, Pretty Tied Up...*
And then the non-single Belters... *Coma, Get In The Ring, Dust & Bones, Don't Damn Me, Locomotive, Perfect Crime...*
With a line-up like that, with still more up the sleeve...Civil War had to be that good in order to stand out. And it was and it did! I always rated Civil War - the way Slash got those chuggin' riffs to bend and be all fluid blew my 13 yr old Strat copy chugging, metalzone stomping young mind!

Nah I'd have to say it's definitely not underrated. It's infamous actually. Talk to most guitarist and they'll tell you depending on their age that one of their first full songs was civil war. It's become a permant staple on music history.
Since I heard this song live it’s been my favourite song they’ve done!
But for sure less people know about this one..
No man, this song is recognized and deserved to be, most underrated song by GnR must be, just must be ESTRANGED. just because its to long to be on radio, but i just adore it

What even was that hand press?
Its called "neck bend" its kinda normal bend but not exactly.. You need to do move like Niko did but try to do this with feeling because you can break a neck if you push to hard.. Effect wchich you want is same as in bending but its kinda different sound. I know that Slash once broke his neck in that Way So be careful

At 1:39, why is a neck bend preferred over a string bend? I've heard from one of Slash's audio engineers that he once snapped the neck of a les paul when he did a neck bend on stage.
